I like T-Chinese too, but they stopped printing that in Mirrodin (2003) block. That's mostly the reason why I enjoy looking at the language - circles and hats. Actually many of the letters look similar to Hebrew too:

קובי is Koby in Hebrew, and here's some sample Korean: 모양을 본뜨고, with bold showing similiarity. It's a nice coincident that my last name is also Kory (but i'm white as sour cream).

I have a good friend in the Army stationed in Korea, so he helped me with 3 of them.

I usually go Japanese foil but in this case I had Korean reanimate, exhume, and 2 show and tell. Decided to go for Korean this time.

1 Korean show and tell on eBay now. =)

True that. There isn't much that is better than a beta playset of each dual land other than a complete set of 36 alpha duals, as alpha duals are ridiculous in terms of price and quite hard to find despite the lack of volcanic island.

Hey so I know this is unrelated but I was wondering how everyone sleeves their decks? As the value of my deck goes up, I want to keep my duals etc in good condition. I recently bought a pack of KMC Perfect Fits but found they DON'T fit into KMC Mats (pretty bad considering same brand). I'm assuming most of you pimp players double-sleeve and use the best sleeves out there so wondering what you all use.

I mainly play EDH so I purchased single copies of each dual land before the spike. However, the rest were purchased after the spike. To complete the set I sold a NM-M playset of revised duals and an unlimted Power 9 set. I sold Modern staples and extra Legacy ones and still had to add more. I did not think it would ever get done.

I had a signed Underground Sea and replaced it this week with an unsigned one this week. From what I have found, single signed copies are worth less than unsigned ones. I am sure signed playset would not follow the same trend.

The stuff in this thread is quite amazing. When i saw the full beta dual set my jaw dropped out of socket (which is actually not quite that unique, my jaw is fucked up). However! It's so sick, i started collecting legacy cards around worlds last year and i now have 33 revised dual lands and i'm really stoked at finishing my set ;D. But a beta set? Shiiiiiiet that's amazing :D!

So firstly, the GP was fucking amazing. Raymond Swanland is a fucking boss, RK post is pretty great, and Dan Scott is a super nice guy.

The Beta Draft went down Friday night with 6 people, and it was the most fun I've had playing Magic in a long time. We played Mana Burn, with ante cards, Chaos Orb having to flip, and cards played as written.

We had 7, but couldn't find an 8th. We went and asked Kibler if he wanted to Beta Draft, but I don't think he thought we were serious since he said he had to Avacyn Restored Draft. That's not even...anything.

I drafted R/G Beats with Scryb Sprite, Juggernaut, Two headed Giant, Fastbond, Winter Orb, Howling Mine, Regeration, Craw Wurm, etc. It was amazingly fun.

I played the R/G/x Mirror round one against my friend, were I narrowly squeaked out victory against my friend. Word to the wise: Rock Hydra is the tits, as is The Hive. Seriously.

Round 2, I played against Esper Control with Pestilence, Castle, Veteran bodyguard, Recall, Phantasmal Monster, Fat Moti, etc. I barely pulled out the victory. Fungusaur is the bomb against Pestilence. Chaos Orb mucked 5 of my permanents one time, though. Freaking Chaos Orb.

All in all, amazingly fun. I'm considering making another Cube with Beta to Antiquities just so there's a bit more variety/removal/options, since removal in Beta is SO limited and creatures are almost too good, plus there's a ton of chaff, like all the laces.

Then, a bunch of other people asked me to get cards signed. Markus, i've got all your cards.

The lineup for Raymond Swanland was an hour at all times, or more. I waited and when I got to the front to get my artist proofs for someone, he ran out of gold marker. So, I came back today and eventually ended up getting like almost 100 proofs. Some with sketches, some not.

The pic here is of some of the ones I got from Raymond. However, through much negotiating and begging, I was able to get three AP #1's, which Ray usually keeps for himself (exclusion being Vengevine, which he got offered too much money to pass up on, apparently).

Even though the two others are crap, #1's are decently hard to come by. I managed to get some #2's, but some I couldn't be picky about. There is a sketch on the back of the Silverheart, but the client has requested that it's just for him, so no scans for you.

Next, apparently they JUST got Planechase AP's in, and they just started doing the planes. I was one of the first to actually get the planes, and I was THE first person to ever have the Planes altered by Dan or RK.

I overpaid a bit based on condition, but the dealer and I couldn't agree on the price, so we rolled for it. I lost. I didn't care, I finished the fucking Beta set.

I'll take better pics when I've got natural light, but it's amazing. I've got about 100 Beta basic lands to get for it yet, but that's the easy part.

Played in the Legacy event, did some minor trading, etc. Overall, an awesome, but tiring, event.

Lost to RUG which should basically never ever happen. But he won the die roll and got the Delver Go -> Counter everything hand. Lost to Maverick in my opinion because of a sideboarding error on my part, not bringing in bridge #2 to craft a lock out Intuition pile. So after SCG Seattle, the group of us went to Five Guys Burgers (for you non-Americans, it's a burger place that serves juicy, cheap burgers of medium quality, but they're delicious...and very American).

They serve a spice mix on their fries, so we asked for it on the side.

I used to use the "Ho" deck from Pimp: the Backhanding (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/15064/pimp-the-backhanding) for all my token needs, until someone stole my Standard deck and that game was in the box with it. I'd shuffle it up and peel off however many I needed. It was hilarious. People especially hated being beaten with the underage ho or the tranny, though when I lost to a maindeck Moat last spring (with non-LED dredge) I found out that hos can't swim.

You can also use the "Pimp" deck for tokens, as the pimps have great flavor text. Like Bloody Mary; "Mary doesn't give a shit if you've never laid carpet before, you're hitting for both teams now."

That's awfully overpriced given you can buy them on Ebay right now for $200/bin, and the last playset of them sold on there for ~$700. I think you'd be pretty damn lucky to get over $1000 for a set, and anyone paying well beyond that is probably just desperate to find them.

Yeah, I need some better Paths as well. Maybe next time Dern throws a playset on eBay in the russians I'll grab them. I currently have 3 x crispy english legends and 1 Japanese 4th. At this point I just want to flip the Jap one for a fourth english legends. Now is not the time to be buying Korean Land Taxes. At the GP one vendor had them for $90, GamingETC has one for $60 and it sat there the whole event.

It's not like the booze I bought and turned into urine is now suddenly worth more money three months after I bought that drink.

Totally agree on this too, my love for new bordered cards only stretch to FNM and Judge foils, everything else seems more awesome in the old borders :D. The Swords of Light/Shadow and Fire/Ice were simply amazing as old bordered foils :D

I am not a big fan of promotional cards. I should add a DCI Vampiric Tutor and Enlighened Tutor. However, I doubt I will ever change the Beta cards. I really like the look of Beta cards alongside the foils.

They're "blank spots" on the printing sheet. As it says, they're supposed to be destroyed after the sheet is cut up, but a couple slip out every year. AFAIK they're pretty rare and worth something with some collectors.

to answer some of the comments asked :

markers: Why chose KMJ to alter some. Well, been over 1 year im trying to get a hold of some of the artist ( tons of emails, etc...) and, no one ever responded to any of them. (NO CLUE how you do it bud, you gotta be someone popular like : Brad Pitt / Tom Cruise or something to have ppl answer you back and sign all your stuff ! hehehe ). Well, KMJ was 1 of a few that answered back to my emails and, after 25++ emails, he agreed to do it even if it wasn't his artwork. I was happy because, i DO NOT WANT any random alterers, only a Magic the Gathering artist will alter them.

thats why some of them are done by KMJ. I just want to finish that damn End of WO_Orld project called out by the Mayan`s ( dec 2012 ). hehe, funny theme for a MTG deck ! haha

I love decks/collections like that. Every card has its own personality and history in the alters and signatures, in addition to just being tough to find chase japanese foils to begin with. Some people might not be a fan of alters (Ertai's Familiar alert) but I love seeing collections like yours.

Well, I like having all the artifacts with the same border, I think that this way the deck has a more compact style.
About the burning wishes, I've decided to use the judge over the judgement ones (lol) because in my opinion they look better when played with infernal tutors (all the tutors with the same border I think it's better). If I played vintage with vampiric tutor, demonic tutor, mystical tutor.. I would choose the judgement ones.

Everything is viable. It's vintage. The sideboard is a pile of Scryb Rangers and Trygon Predators :)

Interesting idea. As someone who HATES alters not done by the original artist/Richard Garfield I kind of like this idea...Getting a former MTG-Artist to do the alters...

Trust me it's a lot of work and requires a lot of connections (networking with other signed cards collectors) to get all the cards signed. And sometimes it's just pure luck (finding ebay auction of Daniel Gelon signed Beta cards for example).

I got a "blank" card once in a pack of Tenth (?, I think). The card has a black border and white in the border like this one.

@sdematt, I thought you were still in college. If so, can you please start a blog on making money and being rich because even with a decent job and salary I find myselfy degrading my flights to shitty airlines from the second class airports and supermarket purchases to the market brand stuff, even downgrading my beer to Kronenbourg to meet ends in the months when I purchase Magic cards, still I'm yet to own a Beta dual. I can't fathom what kind of personal economy can sustain that.

P.S. If you are getting sponsorship from your parents can you please tell us what they do, so I'll quit my job and pursue a career in that area.
