LOL... you're right, that's the best. I actively collect signed cards from all kinds of CCG's; one of my favorites is Vampire: the Eternal Struggle. Back in the day lots of artists used other artist, WotC employees, or spouses for vampire models - I have quite a few double signed VtES cards :wink:

I want to say I got that signed at a Gencon or Origins. It kind of looks like Dan Frazier, so I asked if it was a self portrait. He said no in fact it's Mike Something (I can't remember and the signature is a bit cryptic) and pointed 2 booths over ... and there was the Soldevi Simulacrum beard and parted hair and everything. I stormed over and got him to sign the card and never even got Frazier to sign it.

Does anyone else wait for the weekend to see what new cards Markers has added to his collection? I just find it exciting to see all these hard to find cards with signatures. I wouldn't have the money or patience to collect every card with artist's signature. :) Maybe one day I'll be good enough to do some art of my own for wizards. Might be the only way to get my hands on marker's collection. :laugh:

Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks for showing us your progress and the cards that you seem to receive each week.

really? when i met her she didnt mind signing at all, was even very friendly. but that was way before the times of standstill, around 1999 or 2000. i gave her a bunch of cards from that time to sign, and randy gallegos and rob alexander where there too.

Signing policy
To my friends in the Magic community – as some of you know, I do not enjoy signing cards. I like creating new art and spending time with my family much more than sitting alone, signing work from 15 years ago. But there are some quite nice people out there who would like their cards signed, so I now tentatively implement a new signing policy;

I will accept mail-in cards for signing at this time. There will be no fee for basic signing, but also no time limit for turn-around. Cards are sent at your own risk. Please include a self-addressed envelope and postage for their return.

No more than 12 cards should be sent at one time. The more cards you send, the less I will want to sign them and the longer they will sit untouched. No return postage? Generic cover note for use on multiple artists? Back in the basket they go! If you have a large number of cards and/or need them back in a timely manner, contact me to work something out.

Sketches and modifications are also available, price subject to negotiation. Contact me to discuss your project.

From a European perspective the German one has no considerable increase in value as there are plenty and the Japanese one is worth quite a bit as Japanese Portal 2 is rather rare - maybe $50ish.

Price usually depends on rarity, but not necessarily. It could also be aesthetic appeal. but yes, usually rarity dictates price, that's why Russian and Korean Foils are more than their English Counterparts, at least to non-Russian and Korean natives.

There's an ebay store by the name of goods-seller who usually has this kind of stuff. Did you check there? They're also good about having both non-foil and foil foreign stuff--which is cool, most places don't want to fuck around with non-foil. They also are a really good shop.

Ditto Boulder Magic, although their stock of foreign stuff is at least half German. Again, good people, good prices, free shipping; worth a shot.

It is .... For certain stuff he/she/it is pretty fast and the cards are post marked from Seattle. For other pre-orders they come from overseas. I've never had a problem with mtgmintcard or the eBay front for it goods-seller.

a lot of great stuff came in today, both from europe and overseas!

but such a strange and funny thing just happened to me!
i was at the customs office to pick up some overseas stuff, among it 2 boxes of russian 10th edition. i have been trying to finish russian 10th edition for quite a while. on ebay and mkm is it pretty much non existent, never had such trouble to complete an edition. even japanese foil onslaught was much easier.

well, an hour ago i was 33 cards short for the complete set in mint condition, so i started opening. the first box was pretty disappointing although it had 11 foils in it. it contained just 4 cards that i didnt have yet, with underground river and sculpting steel worth mentioning and one crap rare and one crap uncommon.

that means 29 more cards to go. all rares, with the last green uncommon i had all nonrare cards from the set.

and here is the strange thing: the 2nd box! i started opening:
1st booster: i did not have this rare yet, 28 to go
2nd booster: i did not have this rare yet, 27 to go
3rd booster: i did not have this rare yet, 26 to go

i wondered, what the fuck, first row of boosters opened and already as many new cards as the whole last display!

then:
4th booster: brushland, damn, i had this already ;-/ will never finish this set..,, so i continued with the 5th booster and BOOM, again a card i did not have, 25 to go.

then i opened the other boosters and each one contained a rare i did not have.
except brushland the first 30 (without brushland 29) boosters of the display did all have exactly those 29 cards missed.

then i opened the six left boosters but until then i already had finished the set.

notable cards from the 2nd display were wrath of god, shivan reef, battlefield forge, shivan dragon, reya dawnbringer, goblin king, birds of paradise, lord of the pit.

i consider myself pretty lucky and i am still speechless how this could happen.

i have finished a lot of russian sets until now and many other english and nonenglish sets, but i had never such an irregularity.

i have opened more than one foil in the same rarity slot, i have opened upside down cards, i have opened wrong sorted boosters with a different sequence. but this is just luck i think. it is just like exactly this booster box was produced to exactly finish my set and nothing else!

wish that will happen one daywith the russian foils from 10th i still need ;-)

I don't have a scanner/camera available, but here's a quick summary of what I bought at Ovino7:

- 1 foil Innocent Blood ( finishing my playset!)
- 1 foil Daze (finishing my playset!)
- 4 Risucchia Potere (Italian Mana Drains) between exc+ and nm- for the lovely price of 170 eur ( I'm no Vintage price expert but looking at ebay seems like a decent price)
- 1 foil nm Masques Dark Ritual ( for 15 eur I'll take it! :D)
- 1 NM Italian The Abyss!

There were at least 3-4 major european / non eu dealers with some impressive stock!

Absolutely, it can take a long time to track some of that stuff down. Lots of MOTL scouring, some lucky eBay bids, and the help of sdematt and his European friends (to make use of magiccardmarket.eu), and the Russian core is complete. Took about 4 months to track all that down (in reasonable condition at fair prices).

I'm not sure, I like T-Chinese cards; especially from the older sets (font is very boxy) but they don't show up very often on eBay (again the old stuff). If there is nobody really looking I'd imagine not much more than English wastelands (40-50). Korean wastelands show up all the time. I need to get rid of the Japanese ones as I really never use them. Also, there are no simplified chinese tempest cards ... simplified started with Invasion I think (maybe there was a small Urza Saga run also).

Stuff from tempest is tough to find, but I can fall back on Korean for that whole block. Urza's cycle T-Chinese can be hard to find also, I picked up a metric fucking ton of it when I was in Taiwan for a couple months last fall.

We call it "93-94", legal editions is alpha, beta, unlimited, arabian nights, antiquities, legends and the dark. It's philosopy is that these where the cards that was printed during this era (93-94) and to preserv the "old-school" feeling about it revised is not allowed. Fallen Empiers was printed in 94 but it could be bought during 95 and doesn't quite fit the "old-school" feeling, so it was cut.

So, going to an SCG Open next month and plan on dumping a ton of small stuff I have a lot of to them, as their buylist prices are at or higher than what i can reliably sell them at locally. Can't decide if I want to use it towards upgrading my FBB duals to Beta (only need a set of 10, since I only play EDH now) or just not worry about the upgrade. Other upgrades I plan on completing are English Eureka and The Abyss, and upping my Timetwister from UL. I might end up trading for a Capture and a Ravages from a guy I know while I am there as well. Looking forward to it.

Oh, and Markers, I am working on getting a quality pic/scan of the Drew Tucker proof thing I mentioned previously. It is pretty sweet, and I definitely want to share it.

I picked up a signed FoW the other day but it's not signed in Terese Nielsen's usual super scripty swooshy(?) manner. Has she been known to sign differently ever or is it just a fake?

i´d have to see it. there are always variations but u usually can tell.
for example on mkm there are also 2 fake extreme altered force of wills by seller pacofaco.

2 of the playset are real, 2 fake. they also dont appear on nielsens site and the signature looks really really off.

Unlikely you'll find a store that won't rape you by undervaluing the Revised and overvaluing the FBB. It'd be better just to trade with dealers or people.

I once bought a "good" condition FoW from MagicMadhouse and received a signed copy. Ebay currently has a "played" signed FoW for $65. So I think signed copies in less than NM condition aren't considered to be worth more. It might be different with M/NM ones though, they're obviously more pimp.

The one Powersink is pretty ballzy !!!

That deck is beast mode. Remember ... Power Sink used to be one of the best counterspells. Better than Counterspell in many cases. It couldn't be responded to except by other interrupts and thus could shut your opponent out on their turn as well as tap them out to allow you to resolve your spells.

Power Sink with it's old functionality (in the interrupt / batch rules) would be the best counter in legacy today.

I came across this recently. The odd thing is that the card above the Tundra is completely white except for the surrounding black edge (not the off-white of a white card, but actually plain white). Also, you cannot see any artist credit on the card above. And in addition, the top 1.5-2mm of the card is not glossy, while the rest of the card is glossy like a normal card (you can sort of see what I'm talking about in the second and last photos). I was talking to someone and he said he thought the card above the Tundra was a special test print card to check that the sheet was printing properly, and thus was matte white and lacking an artist credit. Does anybody have any info about this? I've never come across anything like this before and tried to find out something via Google but with no luck.

Well Tundra is in the top row of the rare sheet. There wouldn't be a card above it to misprint onto it.
