Now I know why there is no zendikar fetch lands on the market. Why the hell do you need more than 4 copies of each? This sentiment of greedy you have is one of the main reasons that is destroying older formats....

I wouldnt call it greedy. Foil Zen Fetches if you got them at a solid price not too long ago have been great investments. And I can see them continuing to go up as modern expands. Also what if he wants multiple decks? It is annoying to keep switching cards out between decks. I dont personally mind it, but im sure some people do. It is a bit rude to come in here and tell someone off for something like this.

My buddy was at out LGS recently and a guy said, "Do you want to trade for a foil Scalding Tarn?"
My friend said sure but he didnt have too much of value. The guy says I think the foils are around 40 because normal ones are 25. And this is how he ended up with a 100 dollar foil fetch land by trading 40 dollars of crappy EDH cards... I wish people would walk up to me and offer me bargain deals. He also got a 20 dollar foil deathrite shaman the same way...

My other friend traded a few bonfires for force of wills as well... I hate my luck.

I guess this was a bit off topic, but while we were talking about foil Zen fetches...

but making money with mtg is so much easier than on the stock market.
why didnt you pick up the fetches when they were still cheap? i did so, so i dont have any problems ith marvin hoarding a few fetches.
there are guys out there who do it in a much greater manner.
it´s up to every person what he or she does with his own cards.

Yeah I invest in the stock market. Each quarter I get an earnings report telling me how much money I made...that is not much fun. Winning with Magic is a lot of fun. My problem is I prefer to diversify. Once I obtained my foil play set of foil fetches I moved on to collecting something else. I would guess you view my collection as a complete waste....they are in an Ultra Pro album just for me to look at. I even have cards encased in acrylic slabs that are in a safety deposit box. I play mind you, but I tend to play with non foils. They will likely be reprinted in a few years. It's not like they have been out for over three years...so they have...where does the time go?

I have at least 12 of each nonfoil zen fetch land. I need more because I let other people borrow decks and it go too hard to switch back and forth from modern to modern and modern to legacy decks.

Its a couple hours drive by car and usually venues are in a hotel with cheap (30€ or so) rooms?

You do have a nice collection.. and I always thought about building the community here

pretty suprised that thanos's signed vampiric didnt go for more. wanted to do 400 but my damn phone lagged too hard...im pretty surr id have been outbid. and not too suprised about wasteland since its a 4-of, so i guess only collectors bid on it. wonder that a playset might fetch but we probably will never see one except when markers finishes one ;-)

I kinda like it, would like it better if it was an old frame foil like confidant but the art actually kinda fits the new frame IMO. Still I would prefer a non foil black bordered version but I guess I shouldn't hold my breath for that one XD.

I think the way they're doing judge foils now is to use the new frame if the card was originally in the old frame and vice versa.

When they change the judge promos to non-Foil old border Korean then I'm all in. If the promos are truly about providing value to the judeges who work for them (without having to issue 1099s) then I think that route is the way to go.

Imagine if you can ... old brown Sensei's Divining Top in Korean. Holy Eff ... it would be $500.

Honestly I wish they'd do a little bit both. Imagine a market where the judge promo for an event was non-foil for the lv1s & 2s , and foil for the lv3s or something similar. If we wanted the heights of pimp we could print them in the language of the events host country, maybe give the judge their choice of frames etc. That would make for some incredibly rare versions of cards.

Summer lands are 180-200 for Forest Mountain Plains, 230-250 for Swamp, and 300-375 for Island. It doesn't pop up on Ebay often, you basically just have to know people.

I've seen a ton of Summer cards over the last 5 pages or so, but I've never seen any on ebay. How much is something like a Summer basic or that Summer Wild Growth worth? Are there like super secret summer trading boards somewhere on the internet?

Saw a near mint Alpha/Beta (cannot remember, it was late) Mox Jet that was crimped at GP Denver. Also saw a Alpha/Beta Berserk that was 100% crimped (meaning the crimp was not hugging the border, but instead hanging on the bottom third of the card). I did not know how far pimp (or crimp, for that matter) could go, but my eyes definitely opened a little wider that night.Those were mine. There was also a crimped Beta Emerald, as well as about 70 other miscuts in that stack. My friend who was attending got them all signed for me. ;)

That is a nice stack of cards there Markers. Saw it and my jaw dropped. Like the dementia sliver a lot. But good job overall, those must've been hard to obtain.

yes, initially those cards come from richard, occam and keith (the misprint guy) acquired some of those UNL/AQ test prints from him.

The first one is from an unofficial set of cards. It's not particularly valuable or anything, just picked it up because it looked cool.

The last 3 cards are a bit more interesting, since they're not new. The copyright date at the bottom of those says 2008, so they were created 4-5 years ago, and they've never been mentioned before. To the best of my sketchy knowledge on this, they're just like the robot chicken cards -- created to be given to people, in this case, jgl and co. I really don't think any images have been posted before, and I've never read anything about these. They should probably be added to the library image pages at some point in time.

Nah that's another guy. He's posted on the source before. He deals with all kinds of misprints, whereas I typically don't bother with miscuts, crimps, random oddities. Mostly with summer/test prints. His collection is a lot more extensive as a result of diversity, though.

On the Duresses: I'll probably be rocking a set soon enough. Surprising that they get more airtime than a bgs 9.5 summer dual and some of the other stuff.

here are more players, we usually dont care about graded stuff. for me personally, i for instance actively dislike it.
plus the duresses are much cooler in my opinion. people love the textless stuff!

I hardly play physically, partially because of time (work, personal life, post grad) and partially because the eternal scene here is terrible. I play quite often on mws etc, though less so than before. Can probably put decks together for scans -- maybe I'll do some soon.

Well, they aren't really misprints, more of very low quality test prints. Everything you said is accurate, though, including the part about flipping. I'm not really interested in making a profit from what I have though, fortunately (or unfortunately).

Never. Those were the latest cards I got, and they practically arrived yesterday, just in time to get scanned. If there were such scans before, though, can you link me to the page? Would be interesting to see if any real info was posted on them. I searched quite a bit on google for these and found nothing. The only info I have is from the previous owner, that they were created to be given to jgl etc.

This isn't a test print or anything cool like that, but I'm a big fan since bidding on the original of this was basically pointless. Scans lessen the subtlety of the ink so it looks better in person. Thanks to the person who knew I couldn't afford the painting and got this for me instead :P

Well, that would be banking, but I wouldn't recommend it. The pay and bonuses are alright but it's just not a good industry to be in right now.

@matt:

Yeah someone else directed me there. Doesn't really have anything I don't know, though. There are 6 to 8 sets of these around and some were given to the actors. I know of two other sets out there so the scope to pick these up for a collection is very small right now.

One day i'll post scans of a foil exodus sotf set, a textless duress set, hopefully a textless cradle set together with the cot set that most people have seen.

Yes, he is my new addition to my deck. Hav'ent had time to playtest him mutch yet. Since Spiritis the only creature in the deck; Works lovely with Liliana, Darkblast & Load dredge.

I love BUG decks. Especially with Loam and Creeping Tar Pit.

Everything except Cursed Totem is a little weaker with that guy running around. An active shaman with a competent user shuts down quite a few cards.

Ha ha.. mr funny! Regarding Fow its printed with the name: Willenskraft, Force de volonté, Forza di Volontà, Fuerza de voluntad and Força de Vontade. Use googletranslate to figure it out :)

If a shaman survives 2 rounds against this deck, something is wrong!!?!? :) But the Spirit is on a test for now.

How do all the pimps in here feel about new-border Brainstorm and/or Counterspell? I've been seeing a lot of people "pimp" out their decks with the Izzet v. Golgari Brainstorm and I just don't get it... To be fair though, I play with Japanese (non-foil) MM Brainstorm so I'm no Brainstorm pimpmaster.

Legacy is the only real format where you get to play with sweet old spells, why would you want them to be new-border like all those dumb creatures that have been printed?

As you can see I have the MM Brainstorms Japanese also (witch I love), but in this deck I try to match the images on the cards to the blue/white jace color :)

I agree on the stupid new-age border, the non-modern cards looks much more 'clean' an PRO.

I have found foil omnisciences to be very difficult to trade for, can't imagine JP/KR foils. My omniscience deck is coming along but needs those (plus fetches and MM brainstorms, but that's a WIP)

i stopped looking a long time ago, i got myself a misprint because its rarer, i also had one from summer but i sold it. i have completely russian foiled my deck so far :-)

well, it sounds more pimp than it is...its vintage, so only around 20 cards are russian foil, its not legacy or modern where you can russian foil out 30 to 60 cards.
plus, its still not ready to be shown, missing one misprint and two summer cards until it can go online, and they are heavily money intense, which i dont have at the moment :-/
building it for 16months now and i see it not ending, thats quite a task if you´re just a stupid student :-(

I'll be staying in some 5-6 person holiday house and taking 8-10 days off for this, pulling my fiancee, brother, chimera and another player along :D
I'd be happy to have a meetup at some point ^^

If anyone wants to go but doesnt have anyone to go with yet, there's still room for 1 more in the house, more ppl = cheaper :D
