I only do Japanese. As a designer consistency and continuity mean a lot to me, you can't have a Korean/Russian deck. Same could be said for matching fetchlands.

I choose the make the 4th one (signed one) English because it was given to me by someone I'm really close with. I still need to finish S-Chinese foiling out the lands (it's hard finding S-chinese foil Dryad Arbors....)

Oh and sideboard, the Duresses are supposed to be Thoughtseize but i've been too lazy to find and I have a deal coming in for a playset of S-chinese foil Cabal therapy.

I played in our monthly 1v1 EDH Sunday and (in vain) tried to beat Geist. I think i've got a decent setup but I likely made a couple of bad choices in a winnable game 2. Then in game 3 I never hit 5 mana after getting Stifled, Tec Edged ... and Mana Tithed.

i've finally achieved the first real goal for my reanimator deck: foil all the cards that exist in a foil version (FOWs excluding, cause i don't like too much the foil ones).
I know there are better version for lots of them, but i think this is a good first point for me, cause i'm a student ( = i do not have a regular job with a fixed salary).
The next goal is going to be: save some money for buying BB Seas (i already have the 4th WB one, but this is the list i play); after the achievement of that second goal i'll buy italian/english Onslaught Foil Fetches (cause they are way cooler than this new ones, without any doubt). Not sure if i'll change the brainstorms to MM foil ones, cause i have some feelings for this ones, but i'll think it in future.
I'm going to keep the italian/english version (except for Iona, cause i live that french one), because i'm not a real fan of languages that i can't read, even if i know they are more pimp than english/italian/french ones for magic cards.

concluding:
there are still lots of things to work on here, but i want to share the little progresses of the deck of a student like me... and in a few months i'd probably came back watching the progressions of my deck step by step, remembering how hard was for me to save those money and buy those cards, and how i'm going to love the final outcome ^^

I think he's confused because there's a Watery Grave in there and no Death's Shadow or Mirror Universe. I've said my peace on foils, but the fire and lightning and ftv stuff still just doesn't look like magic cards.

First box, zero fetchlands. The ultimate letdown. I could actually feel myself getting depressed.

Second box, one of each fetch, plus a foil Japanese Bloodstained Mire (meaning 6 total). That more than made up for the first. Couldn't help but think the rarity distribution was odd. Both boxes were from the same case though.

Also foil Dragon Stompy is sexy. Never seen a pimp list like that before.

Foil Loop Mountains were for my Goblins deck. Now the 6 I have are in my Shattergang EDH.
The 10 Foil Cliff Mountains are for Stompy.
I have 10 Foil Floating Mountains for Burn.
No Foil Dark Mountains though (anymore). :rolleyes:

Yeah when it comes to russian cards....I love russian more than any other language even old school korean. Russian is just gorgeous to look at. Not just 1 foil russian blightsteel but a playset very nice.

I opened 2 Chinese Boxes last night and was SUPER sad. Got 4 fetches and a Sorin. 2 Ugins nexus in 1 box and my foil rares were alter of the brood and Howl of the hoard.

As a huge fan of Japanese nonfoil cards, I love it. I'm assuming you wanted Foreign White Bordered 4th Basics, but why?

I would love to have my legacy deck fully signed, as that seems to boil my pasta over foils n such. but outside of a GP or open do people just mail their pricey cards out? I'm pretty scared to do that, not to mention I use my legacy cards pretty frequently. Thanks!

if you are living in the states events like comiccon or gencon with lots of artists attending are probably your best bet to get huge chunks signed at once if you don't want to mail out your cards. like this you can even get them signed in the manner like with a certain pen you bring yourself or at a certain spot on the card.

I recommend you to:

I got a game loss and nearly got a DQ for having too bend FNM Cabal Therapy's in my Nic Fit deck while about 40% was foiled anyway. Some foils just have those issue. It also works the other way around. It is easy to identify the non-foils between the foils. Plus in a deckcheck if the Judge is making a point out of it you can jump high and low it will remain a problem. The argument that WotC created this problem in the first place will not work. Not to speak about opponents that will bitch about it. Just want to prevent that shit from happening.

About the Metalworkers. Last month those costed 200 euro per set. Now 400 per set at least if you can find them LOL. Should have bought them then while i had the chance.

The problem is that there are not many decks in legacy which can be all foil (affinity? burn?..), so it's quite unusual to be able to arrive at the 100%... I understand that you can take some information from that in some matches, but I don't think it matters enough to make it an issue (also I know that this doesn't matter when the decision is from a judge).
Also, if foils cannot be unbend, why not bend all non-foils from your deck? :laugh:

Uhh... marked cards have an obvious advantage. Calling people "shitty" for wanting a fair game of Magic is unbelievable. I don't know if my opponent is cheating or if they just have bent foils in their deck.

Incidentally the penalty for marked cards is just a warning (and to fix/replace the card or sleeve). From the IPG: "The Head Judge has the option to upgrade this penalty to a Game Loss if he or she believes that a player noticing the pattern of markings would clearly compromise the integrity of the game."

basically this. Guy I borrow stuff from fairly often is a foil fiend so if I am not borrowing a mass amount of stuff from him I get to always know when I'm drawing whatever he is letting me borrow. It's a lot more noticeable I think when you don't play with foils usually

It is possible to have MUD fully foiled, there are test print City of Traitors that are legal for tournament play (It's my dream foil, and I seriously doubt that I will ever have one).
Also there are the Post versions of MUD that can be all foiled too.


I've never been called out for having a mix of foil and non foils in my decks. My death and taxes deck is all foil save the set of Karakas because they are fugly foil and I already had a very minor alter done on them. I double sleeve decks, and that greatly helps in keeping the foils and non foils from looking different in the sleeves, unless you have a super bent foil.

Repeat this game with one bent non-foil card and you still play find the bent card. Your example brings in two different things instead of simply one. I promise that through normal play, you won't be able to easily locate the one foil in a double sleeved deck if it is not bent.

Yes, there is such a thing as a non-bent foil. But the whole point is that the bend makes it identifiable, and aged foils, not to mention FTV, have a tendency to bend. Non-foils that are bent are called "creased" or "water damaged".

If your opponent is trying to get you a game loss / dq for having foils in your deck (assuming your cards aren't actually marked), they can get a DQ for Unsportsmanlike Conduct, so just keep that in mind if someone ever tries mining for a free win instead of actually playing MTG.

I remember there have been max 10 auctions since it's release, first was around $150, cheapest $50 years ago, this is 2nd or 3rd this year, previous ended up ~$120, so $70 is pretty cheap, this looked like ending up above 100 for sure so I decided not to wake up 4AM and be disappointed

I think $120-150 is a reasonable even at 150 is cheap compared to other hyped cards like Griselbrand (+note that Innistrad was 1st regular set in korean after late released Mxx so it should be more scarce)... funny how korean foil Cruise ends up around $80

The only difference is now I finally have all 4 Deathrite shamans as foils. 3 chinese fool and 1 English foil signed (was a gift so I'm not replacing it with the 4th foil). I also have the full play set of judgment chinese foil cabal therapy as well :)

I think the consensus would be german, but if you're in the US they are so damn hard to find it doesn't even matter to me.

In Europe i d say French & German, the ugly duckling being (why?) italian. Although finding mint italian fbb (especialy duals) is nearly impossible and italian has also legend which makes it the only language with english that is able to nearly complete any legacy deck if not all (OKAY except candelabra). But well, people tend to refrain from buying italian. I don't get that though, but i do the same like sheep (well mostly re-selling wise)... On the other hand if we are strictly speaking about 3rd FBB duals i think that it shouldn't care if it's italian/french/german especialy if mint.

main thing is if you wanna go with a one language deck your only options are english/italian/french&german.

The print quality is a little lower on the Italian ones (color, feel) and they also have the old Tap (sideways T) symbol.

Generally people like the higher color saturation of the French and German ones, also German for we English speakers since the type line is still Land.

Beta. By miles for me. His duals are hand cuts and my thinking is that he plays them to advertise the other he has for sale. Miscuts are neat, but Beta is Beta.

Rob Alexander put the date when he signed my GP:DC playmat... at the GP. That's pretty neat.

GenCon 2012 (I think), Steve Argyle's hand was broken, so he offered a stamp that said GENCON 2012: BROKEN HAND EDITION. Pretty neat for the rarity. I hope to get that stuff actually signed at some point.

As for dates on signatures, I mean if the artist wants to do it I don't feel like harping on it. Jesper Myrfors does it, Snoddy does it, Andrew Robinson sometimes does it. Miracola randomly does it. Sometimes it works out well on double signed stuff, like Miracola 98 signed korean Firestorm, and 2012 signed.

RKFs signature is so fucking stout I really don't care, he was awesome and personalized a card for a friends son (who is named Dakkon). Jeff Menges was also a gentleman as he always is, and altered my alpha Sedge Trolls into Black Knights, now I just need to find Frazier again to complete the double signing.

Back story:
A couple of years ago I bought some PSA graded Beta Power cards (I wanted a PSA Beta set back in the day). But then at the beginning of this year I realized that the prices for Beta Power were just getting insane (graded even more so). So I decided to trade my PSA cards for Beta Moxes to get a second set for my signed Beta collection.

And after a email conversation with Dan Frazier I decided to get them altered...The result is even better than I imagined. Awesome!!!

I don't know why you didn't just take beat unlimited ones if the boarder is painted over anyways ... or bought some already signed ones. Unsigned Betas in decent condition are stupid expensive. I would have personally prefered, if one of these many, cheap, shitty altered unlimited sets in circulation would have gotten a facelift instead of these Betas

Nice! How was the Old Skool? B.C. missed most of it, so I didn't get a report, just a look at his artist altered Lotus and Ancestral (they look pretty damn sweet), commentary on Vintage (his performance there didn't suck), and confirmation of what everyone was thinking about how boring/tedious Legacy seems more often than not these days (can't even be bothered to Enchantress @ SCG:Oakland this weekend).

But if I post, I might as well post some pimp. My normal preference is not for shiny stuff, but every once in a while something catches my eye. And then I get why some love foils.

I'm a couple days late for the Elves train, but wanted to share some current progress on German Elves being that I received a couple sets of cards in the mail today. Huge thanks to a contact in Germany that was able to find some of this stuff for me.
The Abrupt Decays are being shipped out to be signed, so I didn't have a chance to snag a picture of them with the rest of the cards. Screwed up my focal length here; didn't notice that until I was editing them.

Vials don't come 10th. Those are darksteel. I have foil signed scourge siege gangs but prefer new boarder. And I have original signed lackeys but I hate the old pictures.

Those are actually the only foil printings of Goblin Lackey. It isn't optimal, of course. But weirder things have been done in pursuit of full foil-dom. Also, foil Goblin Matrons are expensive as fuck and hard to find. Respect.
