Yes, that deck is more beautiful than a lot of recent stuff that comes in a non-fantasy frame, with forgettable art and wrapped like a corrugated metal due to low-quality foiling.
The black cards are especially nice due to the black borders, but otherwise I'm kinda not thrilled with the BBs, as they tend to suffer with chips and w/e else. In my Magic world there'd be none of the alternate borders, frames and such, and there'd be far more cards with crappy wording (even though maybe not exactly Beta-like kind of 1993 Sumerian.)

PART 1 OF 2 (too many images!!!)

Promised I would make a post when I finished getting in my FBB. Warning 56k or whatever. Culmination of about 2 years of effort. Every card that can be Japanese is, everything else is either Italian or the most expensive printing of that card (namely the Karakas and Moat). I am not a fan of foils, so even if I could afford them I wouldn't be playing them. I doubt I'll ever be upgrading to Beta duals (at least, not any time soon) so I guess this deck is just about finished (save for the Spares pile being constantly in development as new cards get introduced). Hardest card to find: Pyroclasm. I currently have 2 Italian Pyroblasts coming in the mail, though if they get reprinted in EMA they will be Japanese BB in a heartbeat. As for Japanese FoWs, I'll own a set out of principle but I love my burning man too much so I will still be slinging the Alliances art.

Sorry for the blurry sleeves. Everything is triple sleeved (damn Inked sleeves and their printing method).

I like the art of the KTK Strands better. Sue me. As for my basics, the Venice art is extra flavorful since the anime that my sleeves and alter show takes place in an alternate version of Venice, which is double flavor for the Italian language stuff. Also, I think Gurus are ugly as fuck so I'm not spending money on those, and Summer would ruin the BB nature of everything as well as not having as appealing art.

Spares (here are cards I can swap out to make just about any good build of Miracles. Mentor (w/ or w/o Daze); 3 or 4 Ponder; Partial Legends (though I don't like the Legends build all that much since seeing 2 Karakas'es over the course of a game is really awkward and a lot of draws feel clunky--I'm guessing Joe felt the same way since he's now running some number of Ponders). Helm x RIP combo is jank shit so the eponymous card is absent, and I am against playing a Mountain in my 75 since 1) in G1 drawing a Mountain is ultimate feel bad and 2) we shouldn't be relying heavily on red cards post-board, at least not to the point where we would ever bring in all 6 or however many red cards we have and thus need access to red 100% of the time.):

Yes, those are spare basics. The backwards card showcasing the custom sleeves that everything is sleeved in is a Revised Tropical Island. One day I'll own a second Trop so I can play Bant Countertop for fun and jam my most favorite Planeswalker of all time: Kiora (both versions). The loose Entreats are just in case someone calls a judge on me in a tournament for my alters even though it's obvious what the cards are but some people will be jerks. Monk tokens are supposedly in the mail so I will be sleeving them behind the 4/4 Angelbeats.

I also have a 3rd Jace but he's currently sleeved up in my Japanese JvC duel deck.

As an added bonus, here's my second project. Again, sorry for the blurry sleeves, and extra apologies for those silly black and white proxies. I actually was thinking about getting that done. Probably will happen in the future, but what was hindering me was not being able to find art that I liked of each of the 6. Maybe I'll start up that search again thanks to the Avvenire OVAs. Then the next problem is I don't think my deckbox has enough space for a 75 card triple sleeved deck + 10 tokens (currently only 4, though that'll be doubled to 8 once my Monk tokens arrive). But we'll see once the Monk tokens come in if there's enough space for more tokens.

I am in a bit of a dilemma with my Gofs too as I hate the FS Frame and don't want to have it in my deck. The MM art is better but MM1 foil doesn't come in Jap and MM2 has the ugly dot on the bottom.

I really hope Hymmn, Shardless and Balefull Strix wil be in EMA.

It's because there's just not much going on. Land art should be inspiring. After all, land art is what got me and many others into Magic. It should invoke emotions of fantasy and what not. But that grass and some water doesn't do that.

First off, first time posting pictures, so forgive me the size of them instead of harassing me about it (or tell me exactly how to do it).

Secondly, I absolutely love foils, but the Judge Karakas are hideous, and I already wanted something tasteful, yet altered on my Karakas before the Judge ones were announced. The peel alter doesn't detract away from the card like many alters do when they change so much of the art (Though there are a great many that are gorgeous). I love how they came out and I worked with the artist a little to get it more to my liking. If you don't care for them, move along. These are not the Karakas you are looking for.

I also intend on eventually getting a better Plateau, but as I don't like foreign cards, that means Alpha or Beta for me. I'm going to need to save up a little and/or sell some perty shiny things that I haven't used in years/don't see me using with my plethora of other deck choices.

Still working on the Rishadan Ports and Equipment. Detest any Karakas foil so I'm going cheapie Italian for now until a better solution is found. I'll probably at least go Italian->English.

I was never into foreign cards until I started buying FBB duals. I'm shocked that you can still find the FBB duals for so much less than the beta. Obviously beta is superior but I think these are not far behind.

Well, it's more an end than a start, now I only lack the mana drain to have the oldschool UR with all cards printed in 93 or 94. I'll post a picture when it's finished :)

The problem with getting everything in A/B/AN/LEG/ANT/TD are mainly duals. I'm upgrading my power9 to beta (only 4 moxes left), because it's the only way have those cards in BB, but upgrading all the fbb duals to beta it's really expensive... And if I'll play fbb duals, I don't see much difference with also playing fbb serendibs.

I'm already selling all my foil cards to upgrade the power9, I won't have much more money when I'm done with that project xD

The group I travel with usually bring our own thin markers cause we prefer the signatures in gold or silver, or black with a double sign on top in gold or silver. Anyways the point was some artists do use thin markers. Izzy actually signs in a different place if he is signing with a thin marker.

did not include several cards for legacy builds, also no bazaars, paradises and other nonfoils.
Just wanted to make a pic of most of the shinyness :)
a few other cards like 3 more confluences and 1 more therapy missing here aswell, but not everything was in one binder or in one deck (i always keep one deck assembled in deck box)
also with print of mana confluence i sold 2 of my 7th edition cities - what a pity :(

So here's my (WIP) goofy R/G Lands deck.

It's been an interesting one to try to pimp, because a lot of the 'best' versions of cards aren't necessarily available in the language or foil-ness that I'd like. My mail goal was to make the deck as much old border, foil, and Japanese as possible, but I accept a few compromises for cards that I particularly didn't like the other versions of. I've also just started to collect signatures, so that's very in-progress.

There's still a bit left to do, such as an English Karakas, foil depths (I'm waiting for a reprint), and sideboard cards. There's also some cards I'd love to have but probably never will, such as JP pack foil ports.

I'd appreciate tips on how to scan these better, I have some pretty large/better quality scan but they're like 60mb each :confused: You can see them on the dropbox here (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rcoama4jeal7cm1/AAD44U-S3zM5516mZ9ANiaICa?dl=0), along with some pictures of the deck as a whole

both have the same issue - too much magenta but to a different extent. the nonfoil has way too much magenta though and both additionally miss yellow pigments.
i had no normal brainstorms left for comparison, but on normal brainstorm the woman for example has a blue robe, here we have a pink and a purple rope :)

the foil one looks crazy, but it doesnt allow nice snapshots nor does it scan well - just like some exodus foil testprints!

Yeah the FoW is more just an art preference in my case, I don't really like the judge/MTGO art. If the judge promo had an old border I'd probably go for that though.

I agree on the ancient grudge, I'll probably switch that out.

I'm really like the FNM dismember art though. I think the colors worked really well with the foiling.

I agree with you on this. Personally, I use to pimp out decks that have been successful on Catalan Legacy League, so this restrict which decks I "can" post (you know, lots of BUG, ANT and "common" decks). Next month I'll post a non-blue deck that has been doing well in the last months. It will not be fully signed, though :) And in the next months, I'll start another project, consisting in pimping out older decks (from 2008 onwards). Then there will be weirder decks to see ;)

Pimp is in the eye of the beholder, for me consistency > everything else. Therefore I quit on foils a few years back. I now only play german cards (eng when library, karakas etc)

I have a few other decks I can sleeve up all nonfoil german as well, like reanimator, most delver dekcs, miracles etc... but I need to get me a better camera for everybodys sake. :-)

I´m asking because I already have lots of foil cards and want to finish my deck with foil sigs but I´m not 100% sure if I should go this way because if I want to sell them in 5-10 years or whatever I dont want to sit on them forever...I understand that every change on a normal card lowers the amount of potential buyers but I hope you guys know what I mean...

LPT: Rare signatures and ones that don't look like shit. Use a goddamn good paint marker, look at Nedleeds signed cards for an example of what not to do.

Example:

Rob Alexander has done so many shitty signatures that there's probably financial incentive to own cards done by him that are NOT signed.

Then there's just horrible signatures like WAR, Mark Poole at the end of the day, Frazier, and the person who does Monastery Mentor.

A few months ago I decided to sell all my foil and foil signed cards, to be able to upgrade my p9 to beta, so I have some experience on this topic.
Although signatures on foil cards can give more value to the card than signatures on regular cards, the time that will take to sell them will be much higher. You'll have to find people pimping their decks, as dealers and people who don't like signatures won't want them (not even valuing them as if they weren't signed). I already sold most of my foil non signed cards (most of them for +50€, not cheap cards), but I'm still siting on most of the foil signed cards.

A few months ago I decided to sell all my foil and foil signed cards, to be able to upgrade my p9 to beta, so I have some experience on this topic.
Although signatures on foil cards can give more value to the card than signatures on regular cards, the time that will take to sell them will be much higher. You'll have to find people pimping their decks, as dealers and people who don't like signatures won't want them (not even valuing them as if they weren't signed). I already sold most of my foil non signed cards (most of them for +50€, not cheap cards), but I'm still siting on most of the foil signed cards.

Yeah thats exactly the point. Many People dont want foils and the people who like foils dont like sigantures most of the time. So you reduce the number of potential buyers to the half of the half of interests :frown:

I already let sign my cards through brokers and dont buy cards which are already signed on magiccardmarket or whatever just because of what you said, they´re more expensive then though a Broker. I´m just not sure if I should move on with the whole signature thing...

Thanks for the compliment! My decks are often works in progress as I change decks a lot, which then changes the focus of where I'm spending my money pimping.

I like my alters to be done by the artist who originally did the art on the card.

Iunno, that's pretty subjective. Wayne Reynold's is a personal favorite of mine, and many people think that Magali Villeneuve's is one of the most beautiful. I think execution is certainly objective though. Like if the signature gets smeared or if you give the artist a crap pen. I personally wouldn't want to have Alexander's shortened "Alex".. but that's mostly because I know it's the "incomplete" result of a long day.

Hello. I'm looking to start pimping out UR storm and ANT/TES/DDFT/some other jank but I can't really decide how to go about it. I would prefer to get everything in Korean but most things aren't printed in Korean. Is there a difference in availability between Chinese and Japanese?

For those of you who like me aren't a huge fan of foils how to do you go about pimping your decks? Foreign? Altered?

How do you guys feel about signatures especially on foil cards? Do you find that the sig lowers the value of the card, up´s them or doenst matter.

I´m asking because I already have lots of foil cards and want to finish my deck with foil sigs but I´m not 100% sure if I should go this way because if I want to sell them in 5-10 years or whatever I dont want to sit on them forever...I understand that every change on a normal card lowers the amount of potential buyers but I hope you guys know what I mean...

I´m especially talking about sigs from Tedin, Hamm, Myrfors, Alexander, Argyl, Baga etc...

It depends a lot on the condition of the foil. Even SP foils are hugely different to NM/Mint and redemption quality foils. If you have very good quality foils you should never touch them. But once a foil has lost that new quality it's fine to get it signed. Uniqueness is prized on eBay so signed cards do tend to be more watched and bid on.

I would never buy any offcenter NFCs from him. I do fancy myself a set of textless Bolts one day and if the only stock was those opened from packs then they would be really, really tough to find.

But the deliberate miscutting of sheets just to sell them at a premium is absolute trash.
