For those unfamiliar with Time Spiral, this is Momentary Blink:

Momentary Blink 1W
Instant
Remove target creature you control from the game, then return it to play under its owner's control.
Flashback 3U

I've pretty much made it my mission to break this card in Legacy. With so many strong creatures with comes into play or leaves play effects, it seems like Blink could be a major house. Some possible combos:

- Flametongue Kavu
- Deranged Hermit (!!)
- Eternal Witness
- Goblin Ringleader/any of those cards from Apocalypse
- Loxodon Hierarch
- Avalanche Riders (This has been in T2 already if anybody follows that)
- Man' O War

There's tons more, I could go on forever. Not to mention that in a pinch Blink is a nice way to dodge spot removal and save one of your guys. So far I've tried a UGW Blink Opposition deck with Hermit, Witness, etc but it was a bit slow for the format, like most Opposition decks seem to be (:(). It's a fun little card though, so I was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas for it. It definitely seems breakable.

It's a combo card that doesn't win you the game. Nuff said, it's not viable. You're better off playing something that's a consistant source of card advantage like Blood Clock.

Meddling mage would be a good choice, duress them and see their hand, momentary blink and name another card in their hand. Plus it is already white and blue so the colors go together.

Don't forget morph creatures. They will come back into play as fatties.

How is that card any better than Astral Slide, just out of curiosity?

How is that card any better than Ghostway?

No Flashback and cost 1 more, but removes ALL your creatures. Which is kinda better as long as you have more than one creature, which means probably most of the time ;-).

Because its worded differently. It doesnt come back at the end of the turn.

It can counter a Vedalken Shackles activation I guess.

Probably the biggest problem with this idea is that all the good 187 creatures cost a lot. Of you 7 you listed, 5 cost more than four mana, and the other two have either marginal abilities (Man-o'-War), or abilities that are rarely useful in the early game (Eternal Witness), where I think you need the most help.

In a normal game, you cast one of these creatures turn 4, then Blink it the next turn, and he attacks with everything. Maybe you speed things up a turn with some acceleration, and try to destroy a land. And then get killed in response.

Fun idea. Way too slow for Legacy.

Maybe it's designed for Goblin Ringleader. In...um...U/W/R Goblins. With Meddling Mage. And Intruder Alarm/Kiki-Jiki. And...And...Stifle. Just because.

No, but seriously, despite all the great CIP trigger stuff you could do, this is designed to protect your threats and/or reset cumulative upkeeps. It seems decent with Jotun Grunt in some U/W Fish build, and could possibly protect Meddling Mage also, and maybe...um, Flametongue Kavu. So now it's U/W/R Fish.

...Bah. I'm going to sleep now.

Coiling Oracle is necessary, along probably with Birds, to help you curve out. I think you could build a very respectable little Blink deck with Ghostway as well, using Oracles and Wall of Blossoms as early card advantage and stall until you get your Ghostway or Blink engine going. Obviously Blink has insane synergy with Mangara as well.

The good ol' Fire Imp seems tailormade for that, shooting Goblins down left and right. Bone Shredder could work decently too. Only problem is that they're both in off-colours and cost 3, which is a lot of mana in the format. 2-mana 187s aren't very effective outside Oracle. Maybe Multani's Acolyte too, who knows. 187 Echo critters go nice with this anyways, as they're undercosted and you can use Momentary Blink to work around Echo (at least for a turn and to get an additional use of the CiPT).

I used it in standard for Krosan Cloudscaper. It's definitely amusing and reminded me a lot of Masknaught when I played it. If that guy had trample I would consider it worth doing. Without trample for him in legacy, it's only a cute trick. I had Mystic Snake in the deck also and it goes especially well with him, but he's kind of rough to play with in the fast deck area of Legacy also.
