WB or WU control

I was thinking about the legacy metagame today, and shouldn't one of these two decks be good? The white for aggro control plus life gain (martyr of sands is awesome) then either B or U for controllling combo (B hand disruption or U counter magic). The B or U side also gives you card drawing capabilities (phryexian arena or U stuff like brainstorm...etc). Theres too much sideboard hate for counterspells imo so I'd honestly go with WB I think. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I think the general consensus is that there's really no reason to run pure control over Fish, Confidant, or Threshold style aggro-control, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.
