Science and Hobby will be participating in the North American Challenge this Year!

What is the North American Challenge?
The NAC series started out 5 years ago as the New England Challenge (created by Tom Shea at TJ Collectibles in MA). It is a series of qualifying tournaments run in local stores that lead to a big money free final. The Challenge offers the local store the opportunity to run a meaningful tournament in which their players are playing for something substantial.

How does the NAC Work?
Stores pay an entry fee to run 6 qualifiers between June 16th through August 28th. The finals will be held at TJ Collectibles on September 1st, and the format will be Type 2. The winner of each qualifier qualifies for the finals. If the winner of the local challenge is already qualified, the slot passes down. Then each store gets to send an additional player based on whoever has the most matches played at that store who is not already qualified. All regular magic tiebreakers would exist in case of a tie.

Where can I qualify?
You will find a list of all participating stores at www.tjcollect.com.

What if I find that I can't go?
If you find that you are unable to go to the finals, you should email tj collectibles with your snail mail info. They will send you a draft set in the mail AFTER finals have been run and reported. NAC Competitor T-Shirts will be handed out to those who actually play in the finals.

How many people qualify for the finals?
That depends on the amount of stores that participate. Check back to TJ Collectibles for qualifier spots.

What does it cost to play in the finals?
Nothing! It's free once you have qualified.

Can I come to the finals and qualify last minute?
There will be several last chance qualifiers run the night before. Please check back at tjcollect.com for a listing of Last Chance Qualifiers.

What are the prizes like?
This year's NAC will feature over $5750 in prize money paid out to the top 40 players, with $2000 going to the winner. The rest of the players in the finals will receive draft sets. Each competitor in the finals will receive a free NAC Shirt.

How much do the qualifiers cost?
Only $10.
