Nearly every one of the EPIC members knocked each other out. All of us where paired between rounds 1-4, and as a result I was the only one of us who made it through after knocking out Nightmare in round 4. It should be noted though that the 2nd highest placing EPIC member DampingEngine placed 9th. I'm not sure if Necro was the same, but I doubt they were considering the 4 of them drew in at 3-0-2, so I can only assume none of them played against each other in the swiss.

You obviously haven't seen a survival list in years. Survival has several different plans for when they don't have Survival:

(1) Aggro - properly built survival decks are pretty damn good aggro decks in their own right. Nimble Mongoose, Tarmogoyf, Flametongue Kavu, Loxodon Hierarch, Dark Confidant, etc, etc.

(2) In support of the aggro plan: Aether Vial - builds have been appearing in the last 6 months sporting Aether Vial as an alternate engine for going aggro.

(3) Black - Survival decks (look at Di's top8 list for example) have been sporting 4 Therapy in the main for awhile now, some even with a complement of Duress main or side.

(4) Chalice of the Void - There have been several builds supporting Chalice of the Void instead of black discard. Chalice is incredible at making Threshold fight fairly (or making them let Survival resolve).

Maybe the Burn analogy wasnt so good, but that doesnt change the fact that I personally would rather play Burn than Survival, which you cant tell me is not the case because thats how I feel. Burn decks are like, 41 burn spells, 19 land, I dont see how anything can be more consistent than that (consistently mediocre, but still consistent). Your right I should just let them enjoy their top8, I was dumb to think I'd actually be able to convince people who play Survival that Survival decks are bad, obviously if they play it they see some mystical glimmer of greatness in it that I for the life of me cant see.

I was going to say some more about "bad" decks, but I think its just all about different metas. I've condemned Survival and D&T before, mainly because I dont think theyre as strong as their placings indicate, but honestly Im starting to think it all about the meta theyre in. If someone took either of those decks to VA theyd get steamrolled because of all the combo and such, but I guess they do well in their own environments. I still think Survival and D&T arnt so good, but they apparently work well in the right meta as results show, and theres always the random/luck factor also, not sure how much thats at work here.
