Damn! 4 Workshop/3Sphere decks...

Looks like my last minute desicion of "ill go with this deck since their probly wont be many 3Sphere decks" was wrong!

I figured this round would be all Arbor/Unmask, and probly evolutions of Giles's deck.

In hindsight, I should have gone with a storage land instead of lotus, lol.

Center425 - Leyline of Singularity, Karakas, Isamaru, Hound of Konda

Nihil - Mishra's Factory, Forest, Humble Budoka - DD - 2

RidiculousHat - Mishra's Workshop, Trinisphere, Steel Golem - WD - 6
Marit - Savannah, Swords to Plowshares, Durkwood Baloth - DD - 8

*1: Vesuva copies Factory, but I can't ever swing. You're a whore. Who the hell runs Humble Budoka?!
*5: That's pretty crafty. I think I'll take 2nd to you. Ensnaring Bridge really ought to be banned in this format.
*8: Vesuva on his Sheltered Valley = Funny shit, though.
*12: Vesuva coming into play tapped is my downfall. He wins at 2 life and 1 life respectively.
*13. Stupid Kegs.

So yeah, 46. 6-5-4 record. Not bad for about 20 seconds thought.

Whoever edited the wiki, tell me how I draw against grove/dryad/wurm please? I did the math and I think he's one turn ahead of me.

You're correct. You lose here. This is not a draw. Whoever's keeping track, here's how this goes in the optimal situation with Hat on the play.

On the play, you lead with Steel Golem.
He drops his land.
You knock him to 17 and play Trinisphere.
He goes to 1 charge counter.
You knock him to 14.
He goes to 2 charge counters.
You knock him to 11.
He goes to 3 charge counters.
You knock him to 8.
He plays Tempting Wurm.
You both pass without swinging for several turns while he charges and gets out his Dryad.

Now at this point, he will try to swing with the Tempting Wurm. Here's what happens.

He swings and knocks you to 15.
You swing and he chumps with the Vine Dryad.
He swings and knocks you to 10.
You knock him to 5.
He swings and knocks you to 5.
You have to hold back to chump.
He swings, you chump.
You pass.
He kills you.

Metagame wasn't quite what I expected; oh well. Many of these races were, interestingly, very close -- against Baloth (where it came right down to playing first or second), Epochrasite, and Wurm/Dryad. I'll work on some of the other matchups in the wiki a bit later.

T is for TOOL
09-13-2007, 03:16 PM
Some of you people need to double check the matchups results you posted. I was trying to update the Wiki, and there were many reports that contradicted each other. I tried fixing them, but there are probably still several lurking around. Tacking on a 'there may be errors in my report' addendum isn't a free ticket to make others do the work. It's more helpful to not post anything at all than post a report with several erroneous results.

Eldariel
09-13-2007, 05:08 PM
Agreed, I suggest we wait for everyone to log in their results, winner to get crowned, etc. After that, start accepting decks. As anxious as I am to get started (at first, I had some creative issues with this format, but I figured 'the heck, might as well')

Cait_Sith

The banned list should also include Ensnaring Bridge.

Let's see if it becomes dominant first. Maybe it'll make non-creature win conditions more popular and change the style of many decks.

technogeek5000
09-13-2007, 06:12 PM
Ensnaring bridge isnt that good. if it starts to rule the format then we can consider banning it. I think there are a bunch of different cards more worthy of banning.

I have two broken decks but i cant decide which to play.

Force-Misdirection-Dryad Arbor would have been just as devastating as Unmask-Sickening Shoal-Dryad Arbor, in not worse. Those wreck unprepared metas.I mean, both Arbor decks can't beat--

A) two spells
B) lands that do something relevant besides tap for mana

Most FOW decks are the same. I don't know why it was banned.

T is for TOOL
09-13-2007, 06:35 PM
The first metagame was not wrecked by that deck. It didn't even win. Furthermore, the whole point of this format is to play a deck that wrecks the metagame. No one prepared for Force + Misdirection + Arbor this time around, I wonder how it would have done.

Half of us either played Arbor decks, or decks designed to have a good Arbor matchup. That's why FoW-Misd doesn't fare much better. Myself, I'd still go with Dryad Arbor's restriction.

Also, I've completed the wiki. It seems Pale Moon FTW is this round's winner!

@Cait: I appreciate that you're willing to host decklists,
1) can you do as I did and publish your sec code beforehand? You aren't a cheater, but temptation can get the best of everyone, and it's hard to go with your earlier metagame call when your inbox screams you'll get pummeled - that's why I took measures against it.
2) can you do as I didn't and make a new thread for 3CB #3?
3) can you do as I didn't and set up a clear deadline?

@Illissius: While we're at it, what poem was your deck name from? Irish, Welsh, or something more obscure?

I will NOT be participating in this at all. I will simply keep an eye on the lists.

It is most fair that way.

Now that we have a winner I will restore the original deadline, plus one day.

See Nihil, I already had this all planned out.

@Illissius: While we're at it, what poem was your deck name from? Irish, Welsh, or something more obscure?

Hah. Neither. I wanted to name it after the land Tim the Enchanter is from, but looking at the script, they never mention the name. They do mention the land Arthur & co. trekked through on the way there, and the cave of Caerbannog where they headed afterwards, so I went with that.
