Okay so I was about to bid on this auction that said you would get an undergound sea, taiga, scrubland, volcanic island, and the abyss. The bidding was only at 66.00 bucks!! I knew something was up and found it. Here is the link. Look closely at the shipping insurance.

You want a read, check out this guys feedback! I bought 4 x Lotus Petal. It came to $5.56 after shipping. I paid on the 16th of aug., I email this guy on the 29th asking where my cards were. He informed me that per his auction rules, who the fuck has auction rules, it would take him 10 to 14 days to even ship the cards. I said ok it does say that and I waited. So on Sept 7th I email him again. He said that he droped the cards in the USPS mail box on the 2nd and that they sould be here on Sat. So Sat. sept. 8th, the same day as Eli's DLD I got them. Now I have forgot to mention that these cards came with one free repack each, for a total of 4. We all know how repacks go right? I open the repack and get 60 commons and land. Any way I left him neutra feedback stating that it took 27 days to for the cards to get here. Tha ass leaves me NEGITIVE FEEDBACK stating that I don't know how to follow directions. What an ass! misterwile is his e bay name, check it out it is really funny!

Fools get screwed. That's how it's always been and how it always shall be. But yea, it's a decent attempt at a scam and since someone offered 66, he caught a fish in his net. Now all he has to do is to wait for the auction to close and get rich...

I cannot find his "about me" section. I think you should contact eBay. His page says around TEN days, not FOURTEEN, not TWENTY-TWO. His leaving negative feedback was juvenile at best.

Edit: Leave some feedback, you are not the first with this problem.

Follow-up by comicgeek12 (Sep-03-07 19:04):
Total jerk. He claimed the item was sent on the 16th but wasnt till the 26th

Follow-up by ccurfman13 (Aug-30-07 12:13):
Card Postmarked 8/24. Should have Shipped 8/9. Check Sale Date and his Me Page.

My fave from his feedback?

...it's called RECYCLING. Dullard.

The worst thing is, eBay refuses to take actions against big sellers. My mom went through this vintage jewelery stage, and started to buy and sell it on eBay. It turned out one person she bought from was selling tons of counterfeits, and there was a relatively large group of people who were in on it. There was plenty of proof that they were selling fakes, but eBay ignored it as much as possible. She actually had to file reports to outside forces and it took over a month (or more, if I remember correctly) to do anything about it.

@ iOWN Amazing find on his feeback. I got a big laugh out of the pringles can shipping container. I also love how people leave neutral (not even negative) about him actually shipping past his super long 2 week time. He posts and says something like:

Reply by misterwile (Apr-16-07 03:48):
Poo. Shipped 2 weeks late, w/delivery confirmation. Did not qualify for extras.

I wanna bid on this guys crap just to give him a neg that sticks so he loses his 100% rating. I hate how people hold buyers hostage with feedback. If the buyer pays promptly leave the correct feedback don't hold out till they leave you positive. Your rating should be based on your service not the fear of buyers getting a neg in return.

I wait for the seller to leave feedback, and if he doesnt I send him a message saying 'please leave feedback for me, i got them item..etc' and if he is still hesitant, you know he is just afraid of getting a negative.

I WISH that ebay would change the system so that they withheld the feedback until both parties had given feedback accordingly, and when that happened it would be released. That way you couldn't get effed over by scumbag sellers.

In this case some states ban what the buyer is doing here and can void the contract you sign with him because of it. Either way, I am willing to bet he isn't going to see the massive pile of money.

Honestly, I don't think it matters much as a buyer what your feedback is. It hurts sellers much more, since everybody has a chance to review their feedback first. If I think that somebody is going to give me negative feedback because I give them negative feedback, so be it. Additionally, this type of practice is against Ebay policy, and although it may be hard to prove you can always report them.
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-ov.html

EDIT: About the original auction, I think the seller means that the buyer must purchase $500 dollars of insurance coverage, which is included in the $45 dollar shipping cost.

Responsibility needs to be taken by both buyer and seller. If the seller has a winning bidder in Italy as an example and the bidder leaves a negative because he never gets the item, is it the seller's fault if he did send the item? Maybe, maybe not. If the seller has insurance as an option and the bidder does not take it, is it the seller's fault? I know there are selllers that handle their business unethically on Ebay, but I would hope it would be a very small percentage. I think sometimes people are naive. There are dirtbags out there on both sides of Ebay. Use good judgment!!!

I knew it was a scam when I saw this:

Magnetic Mountain x 4

NOBODY would let those go for less than $300 straight up.

And regarding the insurance, I'm sure they mean that much of insurance coverage, as Xenocide pointed out earlier.

I could buy a good condition playset of Magentic Mountain... for 10 dollars after S&H. Arabian Nights ones too. What is your point?

His wording states that the insurance is a part of the $35/45 price, not that you are PAYING $500 for the insurance. Some places require that as a minimum, I know my post office was $400 for the first couple bucks you put into it.

As far as the shipping goes though, anytime you would ship something out past 10 days after an auction you are violating both Ebay and Paypal terms of service. Both of them are pretty clear on that, and if someone wants to file a complaint through Paypal, while they require you to usually wait a month to see if the item has arrived, if the seller cannot provide proof the item left their hands within 10 days, the complaint automatically goes to the buyer. Ebay policy is the same.

As far as feedback is concerned, you can't do anything about it through Ebay. You have to go through their contracted mediation (sp?) company, which costs $10 and both sides have to be in agreement before the feedback is changed to reflect new status. If both sides don't agree, then more information is required from both parties, and the company decides on it's own what course to take.

All in all, just keep an eye out on stuff. It's way too easy to get screwed on the net, even by supposed reputable dealers like people on Magic portal sites.

In a slightly related note, I actually know the "pringles can" guy. Although he is a bit eccentric (even by magic player standards) he's a nice guy, and came off way more caustic in that feedback than he is in real life. Although, the 'dullard' comment definitely gets brownie points for comedic value

Think that's bad? I was ripped off by some guy for 4 Tombstalkers before FS was released. I never got the cards, he stalled for a while then stopped talking to me, so I left negative feedback. He then left me negative feedback even though I paid as soon as I won and there were no problems at my end. Finally, 4 months later (after I filed a lawsuit), I get a refund and a note saying that the cards were *returned to sender* (yeah, right) because the address he sent to didn't exist. Again: yeah, right. Long story short, I got the refund and a negative feedback for being a perfect, indulgent buyer. Ebay's feedback system is really sketchy.

And yes, I filed a lawsuit over a playset of Tombstalkers. Someone has to scare sense into people.

The charging for shipping. Yea... a Pringles can is both weird and stupid (as it is easily damaged).
