Now that full Lorwyn-spoiler is out, will we be doing this with Lorwyn or going without?

Ban Magus of the Moon was a nice move, really. I now predict a nice meta chock full of Arbor-Unmask-Shoal. That'll be change, for sure.
Anyways, are the results being keep somewhere for a long term championship ? It should be sweet to have such, with prizes, maybe...

Without. Lorwyn is not yet "legal" in any format. I have a few pre-emptive bans to do when Lorwyn comes out anyway (like Thoughtseize).

Bummer. I was about to submit a Gaddock Teeg deck.

Adding Lorwyn without a confirmed, full spoiler from Wizards itself is just bad because we don't know if there are any misinformation in the current spoiler. But I think we can add Lorwyn to the next round.
I now predict a nice meta chock full of Arbor-Unmask-Shoal. That'll be change, for sure.
Exactly - that, or decks that try to hate out those decks.
Can't we just ban Unmask (or even better, Arbor) for good? Abandon Hope is on the ban list and Arbor-Unmask-Shoal is basically as powerful as Lotus-Hope-Nether Spirit, but with the added ability to kill creatures when going second.
Pale Moon FTW

Arbor enables a lot of decks that you otherwise couldn't play, it's possibly the most important tool in 3cb except for Lotus and Workshop. Banning it would kill a lot of decks that aren't really overpowered.
I think Unmask should be banned instead. It's hard to justify it in a format where Abandon Hope and Blackmail are banned.

I think Unmask should be banned instead. It's hard to justify it in a format where Abandon Hope and Blackmail are banned.Except Unmask requires an extra card to cast, so it's far harder to use than Hope or Blackmail. The ACC of 3B is nearly unattainable in this format.
I don't really understand why Hope is banned, honestly, unless people are really concerned about lotus/hope/nether spirit. If we're continuing to ban the 1cc take-anything discard spells, though, Blackmail and Therapy should absolutely be banned.

Except Unmask requires an extra card to cast, so it's far harder to use than Hope or Blackmail.
As an additional cost to play Abandon Hope, discard X cards.
Look at target opponent's hand and choose X cards from it. That player discards those cards.
Hope DOES require an extra card as well.
Edit:
Interesting side note: Mind Twist is not banned. So Arbor-Lotus-Twist would still work.

Twist is banned since it violates the maximum one discard rule, which is why you can't play Hymn either though it's not on the banned list.

Interesting side note: Mind Twist is not banned. So Arbor-Lotus-Twist would still work.I mentioned that Hope makes no sense to me as a banned card, though I should've been more clear. Either way, Unmask is not nearly as good as Therapy or Blackmail.
What rule is this "maximum one discard" rule? I've never heard of it.

2. You may not submit a deck that can force an opponent to lose more than one card from his hand per turn.

Abandon Hope lets you take lands, unlike Last Rites or Unmask, which is, I think, the difference.

As my first post cannot be edited I will post the rules here:
--------------Rules and Submission Guidelines--------------
Your deck is composed of 3 cards which all start in your hand.
Your library contains 0 cards and you dont have a sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
Random effects always go in your opponent's favor.
You can see your opponent's hand, so you make the best possible play.
You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
You play each opponent twice; once going first and once going second.
For each win, you score 3 points.
For each draw, you score 1 point.
For each loss, you score 0 points.
Three rules restrict the kind of deck you can send. They are:
1.You may not submit a deck that can win before the opponent's first main phase.
2.You may not submit a deck that can force an opponent to lose more than one card from his hand per turn.
3. You may not submit a deck that uses a card on the 3CB banned list.
Other than the aforementioned, everything is handled exactly like a real game of Magic.
If you want to play, PM me a message with a heading similar to " 3CB Round #X", where X is the current round number. The format for the message should be:
Deck Name
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3
Any Random notes that you want me to know.

Abandon Hope lets you take lands, unlike Last Rites or Unmask, which is, I think, the difference.
Let me just ask... What about Encroach ? This card can take lands and a Duress/Thallid/Bayou deck axing the Duress for Encroach can be more a pain in the butt, isn't ? I mean, okay, they get different results ragarding the matchups than the Bayou version, but the fact that Encroach can reach lands is something to consider, nop ?

right?
Wrong
WoW works because it is assumed that you draw cards.
For the same reason, you can draw cards that are somehow put into your library.

I am still unsure if chalice at 0 counters the scepter copies so if chalice does then I have 90 points
Chalice@2 counters your Helix, not 0, so it's fine.

You played this last week? I really had no idea. Seemed to do alright:
1. DD - 2
2. LL - 0
3. DD - 1
4. DD - 2
5. WW - 6 (He's only dealing me a net 1 damage per turn, and I'm dealing him 2)
6. WW - 6 (Tabernacle > Muse, Spree can't kill Factory)
7. LL - 0 (Vindicate > Factory, Factory > Tabernacle)
8. LL - 0 (Swords > Factory, Savannah pays for Tabernacle)
9. DD - 2
10. LL - 0 (He gains more life than I do, and deals more damage, too)
11. N/A - Me
12. LL - 0 (Needle > Factory, and he can store up enough mana to pay for Tabernacle to kill me with Spirit. Of course, I am gaining life, but I think he has the inevitability on this one)
13. LL - 0 (Two WinCons that dodge Tabernacle? Eep!)
14. LL - 0 (Three WinCons that dodge Tabernacle? You've gotta be shitting me)
15. WW - 6 (I think I outrace him, and I'm far too lazy to do the math)
16. LL - 0 (Somehow I forgot he had factory).
17. DD - 2 (Keg blows up Factory, but Valley makes it impossible for him to kill me with Megaliths)
18. LL - 0 (see #7)
19. DD - 2 (If he swings into me, we trade, if I swing into him, I lose)
20. LL - 0 (Maze > Factory, Vesuva is Factory, and Nexus flies higher than Factory)
21. DD - 2 (Preacher steals factory, but he's got no way to activate it. Or do I get it back once it stops being a creature? Either way, he can steal it every turn if he has to)
22. DD - 2 (I can't get damage through because of energy field, he can't get damage through because of lifegain)
23. WW - 6 (Factory dodges Leyline, and he can only block (or swing) once every 4 turns, and by then I've gained more life than he can swing for)
24. DD - 2 (It's in both of our best interests not to do anything)
25. DD - 2 (If he swings into me, he loses, and if I swing into him, we trade).
For 50 points, if I count correctly. This was not the right metagane choice, methinks.
This might be a new Deck To Beat...
Well, it has the unique quality of having two win conditions, as opposed to one. Most decks only have a way to deal with one, and some (like mine, for example) can't deal with either. I suspect the meta will adapt, though.

Pinder:
I'll just cast instant Ghitu Fire when I reach 5 mana. You LL, your Factory is a 10-turn clock which is way too slow. Oh, and then I just build up enough counters to pay the upkeep long enough to win. It'll take aeons, but eventually you'll lose. And since I can add counters at EoT, you don't have the option of waiting with your Factory since I'll just add a counter at EoT if I don't need to fry the Factory.

12) 3-1 (on the play, I kill your land before you can play anything; on the draw, you have the time to Needle Factory)
13) 1-1 (see 2)
14) 1-1 (I kill one of your Factories, then nobody can attack)
15) 3-3 (kill Bazaar, win)
16) 3-3 (kill Reaches, win)
17) 3-3 (kill Keg, win)
18) N/A
19) 3-3 (kill Idol, win)
20) 1-1 (you can't race or block, so you have to just make 2x Maze)
21) 3-3 (kill Preacher, win)
22) 3-3 (kill Energy Field, win)
23) 1-0 (kill your Karakas either way, but on the play I can win the race so you must stay and block)
24) 1-1 (I lose if I do anything, so I just discard Vindicate to your Pox and keep Factory as a blocker)
25) 3-3 (kill Taiga to protect my Factory, then race Mongoose)
26) 3-0 (on the play, I kill Bazaar before you can suspend Gargadon; on the draw, you get to suspend it)
...for a respectable total of 105.
Meh, I thought that deck would have been a real killer. Next time I'll try to actually remember about the event and make up another one of my wacky decks.

You're right, I somehow forgot that Ghitu Fire could target my Factory as well. Not that it really matters, as I was nowhere near winning this thing anyway.

By the way...Ensnaring Bridge was touted as the next big thing. I have seen a total of one these two combined. What happened?

This is weird, I still have a copy of your deck in my mailbox...
Sorry about this, this was an exceptionally busy weekend that got topped off with me getting sick.

I corrected #16 after seeing Pinder's analysis...With Tabernacle, he needs 7 mana to be able to cast Quagnoth and keep it alive.
I have no idea what you're talking about. I need 6 mana to cast it + :1: with my untapped, manaproviding lands during my upkeep.
You can't attack me once I get Factory online (i.e. on Turn 2) or otherwise, it'll result in a draw because neither of us can play another thread. I can't kill you because I always have to pay :1: once I play Quagnoth and due to this, leaving my defenses open if I swing with my Quagnoth because I can't activate Factory anymore.
So no, you never had a chance to win to begin with.
Same @ Pinder: You can't attack me once I get my Factory online unless you wan't to lose your own one for nothing. If my math is right, I'll still kill you on my 16th turn (when you're on the play, leaving me alive with 2 life). So you'll still LL.

I double checked and it looks like a draw-draw. Barooks deck is too slow to drop Quagnoth fast enough to race Idol, but one Quagy is down he can keep it in play indefinitely, so satellites cannot attack. This happens both times, so both are draws.
Edit: Also, if everyone could alter their scores to reflect Maveric... I feel really badly for accidentally skipping him.

My deck :
Greater Gargadon
Apocalypse
Mercadian Bazaar
It's very difficult to play against my deck. Sometimes strategy is really not obvious.
1. Dryad Arbor
Unmask
Sickening Shoal
He can unmask each time my gargadon. Then I manage to apocalypse the board before running out of life. Any other play would cost him game.
DD
2.
Mishra's Workshop
Wheel of Torture
Chimeric Idol
I need 7 turns in order to play apocalypse, 9 if I want to suspend before (which is a bad tech, I'll be dead before). The best play for him is to play idol first, then wheel on turn 2. If I begin, he can attack me 5 times and make the wheel trigger 5 times too, which involves 20 life lost. On the draw, he's obviously also too fast for me.
LL
3. same as 1.
DD
4. Sheltered Valley
The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
Mishra's Factory
He's too slow to kill me, if he keeps tabernacle in hand. I can't win.
DD
5. City of Traitors
Simian Spirit Guide
Words of War
My first win ^^. As well at first or second, he's not fast enough and he has no answer to my threats.
WW
6. Mercadian Bazaar
Lavaborn Muse
Shattering Spree
My deck has a very good tempo against this deck. I can suspend and apocalypse at my 9th turn. He can play muse at his 6th turn. I race him if I play first and I have top play apocalypse without suspending if I play second.
WD
7. Vindicate
Mishra's Factory
Orzhov Basilica
On the play I have time to suspend before getting my land vindicated. Which involves that he has time to attack me 7 times (I sac land in response to vindicate) before I get my gargadon, which is not enough. I will finally win him. On the draw, however he vindicates my land too fast and has time to beat me down.
WL
8. Durkwood Baloth
Swords to Plowshares
Savannah
Keeping everything in hand is tech to prevent me from winning.
DD
9. Mishra's Factory
The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
Sheltered Valley
See 4.
DD
10. City of Traitors
Ichochron Scepter
Lightning Helix
He needs 8 turns to beat me down, which involves a non suspending strategy for me. I would manage each time to apocalypse his board. Any other strategy from him would make him lose.
DD
11. Sheltered Valley
Mishra's Factory
The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
See 4.
DD
12. Bottomless Vault
Pithing Needle
Nether Spirit
That's here where Apocalypse is good. I make my apocalypse the turn before the comping into play of GG. My opponent doesn't have time to play spirit.
WW
13. Mishra's Workshop
Chimeric Idol
Wheel of Torture
LL
14. Mishra's Factory
Mishra's Factory
Mishra's Factory
It needs 8 turns to beat me down. He can't win that way, I'll have time to apocalypse. But I can't suspend, so I can't win neither. If it does not take the beating down strategy, it will eventually die to my GG.
DD
15. Mercadian Bazaar
Furnace Dragon
Ghitu Fire
No way I lose against that deck. My threats are faster.
WW
16. Fungal Reaches
Mishra's Factory
Quagnoth
No way I lose against that deck. My threats are faster.
WW
17. Keldon Megaliths
Gruul Turf
Powder Keg
Quite inadapted strategy against me.
WW
18. Mishra's Factory
ORzhov Basilica
Vindicate
See 7.
WL
19. Chimeric Idol
Black Lotus
The Tabernacle At Pendrell Vale
It needs 8 turns to kill me. I have time to apocalypse but not more.
DD
20. Blinkmoth Nexus
Vesuva
Maze of Ith
Maze owns my kill and Apocalypse owns its kill. One more double draw.
DD
21. Preacher
Black Lotus
Chalice of the Void
It just has to wait that gargadon comes into play (-9) before playing Preacher. Then I have another turn to attack (-9), and preacher controls my GG. I have to apocalypse the board then.
DD
22. Keldon Megaliths
Izzet Boilerworks
Energy Field
Nice deck but it does nothing against me. Apocalypse rules !
Actually after a bit of thinking the tech is not obvious. I play my land, I raise in mana enough. The opponent should not move or the apocalypse will ruins his chances. Then I suspend GG. When GG has 2 coutners, my opponent has 2 options :
- play Megaliths. Then I'll be able to apocalypse at my turn with GG suspended with 1 counter.
- not moving. Then I'll sac bazaar to GG and attack directly with it at my turn. I'll have time to do 27 dmg before the energy field to come.
WW
23. Leyline of Singularity
Karakas
Knight of Sursi
Too slow to kill me before apocalypse. Knight is not a legend anymore after apocalypse. GG
WW
24. Smallpox
Black Lotus
Nether Spirit
My strategy is to play nothing before he playd smallpox. Then I may discard either GG or Apocalypse, it will be a draw.
DD
25. Nimble Mongoose
Lava Dart
Taiga
Quite irrelevant tech against me.
WW
I finish with 82 points. Not that bad, but not that good neither. I pay my "draw strategy".
W :
. = 19
D:
. = 25
L:
= 6
Ps : Thank you for reintegrating me Caith. Don't feel badly, my frustration is over ^^.

Me too. For some reason I completely forgot that he had a Factory, too.
Lego should just calculate his results already so I can see how I did. Sheesh.
Yeah, I was kind of waiting for you to get on that...
Me too. For some reason I completely forgot that he had a Factory, too.
Way to screw up our numbers, Pinder. And whoever told me this was a good deck to play, you SUCK! Yayyyyy 4 wins! We didn't make the WORST choice, did we?
I'm going to start playing whatever won the previous one. I just couldn't do that this time because of friggin' bannings :-P
