did you know?

That if there are no other permanents in play and you cast an oblivion ring... it stays there, then you remove that oblivion ring with a second, then when you cast a third you cause an infinite loop that must be played out that unintentionally leads to a tie?

Did you know?

That the same thing has been around for years with Faceless Butchers, or any number of other cards with similar abilities?

Was there a question here?

If this was in a tournament, and you purposely do this, what happens? Do you get some kind of warning, or does the game just ends?

It is definitely not against any sort of rule - it's part of the game.

102.4b. If the game somehow enters a "loop," repeating a sequence of events with no way to stop, the game is a draw. Loops that contain an optional action don't result in a draw.

Note that thefreakaccident saying "an infinite loop that must be played out that unintentionally leads to a tie" was not entirely accurate. The game doesn't get played out - the game is a draw as soon as the loop is established.

To nitpick further, if you're taking the trouble to set this loop up, it's probably not very "unintentional".

Why would it be a draw you can get out of it anytime you want. Just retarget something different unless you have no other target of course.

This thread is assuming there are no other targets. So, you really can't get out of it.

This is just like how in Vintage Worldgorger Dragon decks can draw the game if there are no other creatures in the yards.
