I don't think there is a pre-registration, but $20 is a good price for a quality tournament.

Edit: Also, what's the expected turnout?

Who cares about the turnout or meta? If I were going I would want to know if those very generous prizes were guaranteed.

Gambit our expected tournout should be in the 35+ range since our regular friday night Legacy tournaments gather about 28+ on avaerage.
As for the SD Meta?? I can honestly say we have no meta. We get the whole lot of deck each week. However you an be sure you will face a few 4 color Landstill, some Fish style decks and some Black decks, as possibly a reanimator deck, a affinity deck, some survivals. Our Meta is truely unique.
Have not seen goblins around for awhile.
Hope to see you here.

Can someone please remember to post the T8 lists so that this may be included in the Historical T8 thread and have some influence over the DTBF?
Please.

If i go (trying to find a way to get there) I'll make sure to stick around and try and grab top 8 lists.
On that note, is ANYONE passing the LA area, on their way down?
Also i'm thinking of takeing the train, does any San Diegoer know if it's possiable to get from the train station to Gaming Empire easily?

I myself was thinking that, but the impossibility of getting there, then playing, then getting back AND sleeping at some point in between seems rather impractical.
I figure best case scenario all the rounds go before time, lets say 5 rounds to top 8. That means we'd see about 8 hours minimum of play time, putting us at least at 7:30pm. Then you have to leave the area and get all the way back up to Vancouver, which if I recall is roughly a 16 hour drive, 10-12 or so if your damn good at it (meaning pushing 100+ with never seeing a CHP).
Unfortunately us NWer's are gonna have to pass on it. Sadly if we had the same plan at the Bay Area, I'd totally be up for a road trip on that one.

Yeah, plus I have to work that Saturday anyway (though theoretically I could get the day off).
I trust that some of the Cali contingent of El Ninjas de Info will be there to clean up, yes?

Prizes are meh. I think Im busy that weekend anyway.
Counting they are all NM:
First place is worth $200 to 240 in cold, hard cash, and VERY easy to flip.
Second is in the neighborhood of $120-140, albeit a little harder to flip.
Third is a solid $80-100, and would flip immediately.
Fourth is whatever they feel like putting out (from the numbers, it's looking like $40 or so)
For a $20 entry fee, all of this guaranteed no matter the attendance, I would kill for tournaments like this to show up in Portland on even a semi-regular basis. No wonder there's no big tournaments down there, if you guys are needing Power to shell out $20.
I agree. Those prizes seem pretty kickass to me.

Actually, I think the factories would be pretty cool to win. Ill check my calender and see if me and my buddy are free to scrub out that weekend.

Yeah, fuck the foil Tarmogoyfs. Mishra's Factories, that's where it's at.

I already have Tarmogoyfs and I hate foils so yeah, pretty much.

Never mind the fact that you could easily and quickly convert those foil Tarmogoyfs into enough money to buy yourself a set of Mishra's Factories, a steak dinner, and a hooker.

Ok, here's the deal. You win this, and I will PERSONALLY DRIVE TO CALIFORNIA with 4 MINT (AND full season) Factories, and trade you straight up. Or, you know, take the much easier and less expensive route and we can just ship them to each other.

Well see, now you have more incentive to win the tournament. You could just as easily sell off the Goyfs, get the Factories, and have some spare cash. So you should probably go, or else someone else is going to walk away with a fat wad of green.

That close to Tijuana, you can get donkeys too. Just saying you know, 6 hookers, 2 of them male, and a donkey. 3 bottles of tequila, and he'll be set right up.
San Diego meta is half junk, a quarter random tier 2/tier 3 decks, and a quarter tier 1 decks. Usually, there'll be a deck that's the current "vogue" deck, which apparently right now is 4c Landstill, that deck you'll see 4-5 copies of. Otherwise, chances that no two people there will be playing the same deck, unless it's PJ burn.
I'm half tempted to tune up my deck and buy a round trip ticket to SD. Wouldn't kill me to spend a few days there anyway, but I doubt I'll have the cash. We'll see after this next check.

I'm trying to find a way down there, and an excuse to skip class.
I might be able to convince my parents to let me go, and my teacher is a breeze, but i need to find a way to get there.
Sock, if your going can we carpool? i can reimburse you for gas, and company on the drive would be better than nothing...

Yeah Mike come on down I'll beat ya down with my new deck "DARK DUECE" a spin off of your old favorite, Three Duece.
Your right our Meta is a little off, but that is what makes it fun to play in. It like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.

It'll be tricky. There's a bus that goes near where Game Empire is, but it's a pain in the side to get to from either of the train stops. Cab ride from the nearest train stop to there should be around $25 if I remember right. I no longer live in the area (just moved to mid michigan), but if you're really stuck for directions, drop me an e-mail with a subject line that I'll actually open and not think it's porn spam.

I still know a few people out that way, and the store owner still owes me a pair of Tividar's Crusades! My bet is on JACO, Kevin Trombley, or Nick to win as far as locals go.

I probably won't be back. San Diego isn't for me. I loved the store, but there's just something about the area that didn't click for me. I just felt like grumbling about the Crusades. I left without trying to get something, so don't worry about it.
@ Rod - you still can't beat me with your reanimator!

Hi, first post here but I'll try and make it a good one.
Just got back from the tournament (it ended at around 9:30pst) w/ a playset of factories to show for it.
Top 8 consisted of:
1. UB Reanimator
2. Angeltrinisphere
3. Yours truely w/ Meathooks
4. Spanish Inquisition
5-8. UWB Fish, Psycotog, and a deck running teferi and desolation angel (only got a 20 sec look at it)
The meta seemed pretty open w/ the lions share of the decks being thresh variants and angel stompy.
I'll post more after I take a shower.
