How Many Dual Lands Do You Own? [Archive]

Used to own more, but lets see:

4 x Tundra
4 x Tropical Island
3 x Underground Sea
2 x Bayou

And that's about it. I really only ever use the Trops, Seas, and Tundras. I don't think I've built a deck in years that doesn't have blue (or slivers) in it, and I typically don't play much red. Also, the only fetches I have are a playset each of Deltas and Strands.

I play a lot of blue anymore, so those get a lot of use, except for the Volcanics; I haven't used them since I played UGr Thresh. Bayous, Savannahs/Taigas get used in whichever colors of Survival I decide to play.

Full playset (although that fluctuates depending on trades of the moment...or did before I semi-retired...especially to upgrade to FBB duals). Took years of effort, but so worth it to have a full set of duals & fetches as it makes deckbuilding so much easier.

I own 12 right now. I have owned more, but sold out because I like mono colored decks like Faerie Stompy, Dragon Stompy, TES, etc. I plan on going down to 6 because I just don't use them and I like to have spare decks for my friends. Anyways...

At one point in time I owned 39, missing a single Volcanic Island.

Since then I've quit caring as much about having a lot of shit as just having what I need to play the decks I play. Currently, I own 27.

For what it's worth, both Zur and I are completely in favor of almost any form of dual reprinting (even if it's unlikely to ever happen). Sure, we stand to lose plenty if the value of duals goes down, but we're players first, and collectors second.

All of them are Revised, sometimes not the best quality, which is irrelevant for actually playing the game.

I also own 8 Fetchies: 4 Flooded Strand, 4 Polluted Delta, which is enough to run Solidarity and Landstill.

I don't own any more because I don't play tournaments too often. And if I do, mostly I use monocoloured decks ftw, like Solidarity (R.I.P.?), Faerie Stompy and Burn.

In the 13 years I have been playing, I never managed to play RW anywhere. So I never felt I needed Plateau, and I will probably never own any.

I feel no need to detail the playsets of Chinese Ravlands or Chinese fetchlands, or Tabernacles I have, as the poll was about classic duals.

I guess I will be gratefull all my life for Rob Alexander to come to the Worlds in Paris (2006). And me from being there at that period. I made him signed all the duals he drew that I own, plus maybe 15 fetchlands, and a playset of Chinese Rav lands. Plus, he also has long hair, and is a cool guy. He said it as nice to see so many old duals, given he mostly signs what people show him, in his case, it was Ravlands and Flagstones. Fun thing, is I queued for him the first day, alltogether made him sign about 100 cards (he mostly drew duals, but also other lands) and the next one, there was a 20 cards limit per artist. I felt like a lucky bastard....

I must confess I am not really in favor of a reprint, but should it happen, I will sadly understand...

What's more amazing imo is that I had all that (along with my full set of power) before I got to college 3 years ago.

I just feel smart for buying stuff when I was young (12-16, so '99-'04) and cards were cheap.

Not having to ever trade, but just play events for fun, is a great feeling.

At the time I stopped playing I didn't know any serious tournament players who did not have a full set of duals. I had a full set and an extra playset of Tundra, Underground Sea, Plateau, Badlands, Scrubland and Volcanic Island since I played anything but green in tourneys.

I had already beat a full playset of Badlands, Scrubland and Plateau and a set of City of Brass to dust in the era before sleeves were allowed in tourneys. When sleeves were finally allowed it was not to preserve cards but because judges were tired of disallowing decks because all the multi-lands and the power 9 were beat to crap and were easy to identify. I had an opponent who I played on numerous occasions whose deck was so inadvertently marked by play that *I* could tell what was likely coming next. He probably knew without a doubt.

I have been playing/collecting Magic since Unlimited, so many of these duals I've had for years (shudder to think how many I've traded). I've always kept quite a few since they are so good, and they always have been. Many of these are graded (PSA 9/10) and not used in decks - have about 8/each for playstock.

FoolofaTook - yeah, I remember having many beat duals from lack of sleeves. At one point I took all my really beat ones and laminated them for a display in my room - now when I see really beat duals sell for actual $$ I just cringe :cry:
