Just curious to see what other Sourcers thought of the idea
If you're not familiar with it, it was played at the Invitational with hints that it could be a sanctioned format.....Here's what it is
Choose any two blocks (don't have to be consecutive blocks)
Choose any basic edition, I believe beginning with Fifth Ed
Make a deck with the above cardpool
Banned list is the Legacy banned list plus any cards banned in block (so all cards banned in Urza's block play are also banned in CYOS, for instance)
Coldsnap goes with the Ice Age block....Homelands, Fallen Empires and previous expansions are not allowed in the format (unless individual cards reprinted in a basic set)
Personally, I love the idea and since I'm a casual player who only rarely goes to tournaments, I love the seemingly balanced power curve of the format....You also still get to use most of your older cards.....
I also believe the diversity of decks will be incredible....You'll have no idea what to expect
The downside I see is that it would be somewhat difficult for the TO to determine if you had an illegal deck.....Plus, I could also see confusion amongst players about what cards were allowed in their decks etc.....
But still, all in all, I would love to see it become a sanctioned format and I'd probably play it over Legacy.....
