So the extended season is coming up and I am building my deck now. I have a list that I think will work but i'm not sure. The current meta is filled with Combo and Aggro so I need a deck that can do well against both. I want to play U/B/G control with the Green being for Tarmogoyf in the main and Grip in the board. Here is my current list:

4 Tarmogoyf
4 Epochrasite
4 Nimble Mongoose

4 Thoughtseize
4 Remand
4 Counterspell
4 Ponder
3 Damnation
2 Extirpate
2 Trickbind
2 Isochron Scepter
1 Haunting Echoes

4 Water Grave
2 Breeding Pool
2 Overgrown Tomb
4 Polluted Delta
6 Island
3 Swamp
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

Cards:

Counterspell & Remand: These were two easy choices for me, I wanted to play remand from the start and I figured that counterspell was another good choice. This build gives me 4 hard counters and 4 Remands which draw me a card and buy me a turn or two. Plus both of these cards fit nicly on a Scepter.

Ponder: Better than Serium Visions and Slight of hand, I think this card is a must in any cotrol deck.

Thoughtseize: I am up in the air with this card, I might replace it with Duress or Therapy. Being able to grab a dude from my opponents hand is nice but I don't know if I can afford to give up the 2 life a shot. Any of the three discard spells I listed work well with what this deck is trying to do which is get cards into my opponents graveyand and the punish them with Echoes and/or Extirpate.

Damnation: Easy choice in any control deck not playing white.

Extirpate & Trickbind: Extirpate is great against Combo and can get rid of that hard to deal with dude against Aggro. Trickbind is for the combo matchup, stops storm in its tracks and can shut down the dredge combo if needed. Both of these cards fit on Scepter too.

Isochron Scepter: A fun/good card I really want to abuse with Extirpate. Counterspell works well here too, nothing like counter one spell a turn for :2:. I may want to include a one of spell that deals with a permanent but don't know what yet, maybe boomerang.

Haunting Echoes: One of my fav. cards of al time, this card can win a game by itself. I want to find room for a 2nd one but don't know what I would take out for it.

Creatures:

Tarmogoyf: Well when in need of a beater what better choich than Goyf. Iwanted to run green for the board and Goyf just fits, plus whats a thread these days without the mention of Goyf!

Nimble Mongoose: Cheap, untargetable, and jsut big enough to fit. At 3/3 after thresh goose is a nice fit here and he can't be picked off by smother, burn or condemn. I was thinking about running Shadowmage here but think that goose is a better fit.

Epochrasite: This deck is way short on dudes so having a guy that comes back every 3 turns and "suvives" my damnations is very nice. I mean while this guy is suspended I can damnation and have he hit with a clear board and at 4/4 his a house!

A lot of people may be wondering why I didn't play Shadowmage Infiltrator. I wondered the same thing after I looked at the list. The problem is after I looked at what I was playing I couldn't find a spot for him.

So if the Legacy community could give me a hand with my extended deck list I would appreciate it a lot. If anybody has a cool deck name for me I'll take that too!

Ignoring everything else for the moment:

Ponder: Better than Serium Visions and Slight of hand, I think this card is a must in any cotrol deck. Another good choice for Scepter.

Ponder is a sorcery, so you can't put it on the Scepter. Sorry.

Is Epochrasite better than Quirion Dryad? I am toying with a similar deck in straight U/G, and Dryad is nuts.

Why Trickbind over Stifle? The additional mana can be an issue, depending on what you're using it for. I play 4x Stifle, but that's just how I roll.

Oh, needs more Smother.

we're a Legacy site, not an Extended one. I'm okay with this one thread for now, but if they start cropping up they'll be viciously culled, and if some other mod locks this I'm not going to care.

Epochrasite is a lot better, comes back after a Damnation and jsut about any other removal spell. Trickbind can't be countered and I think the extra 1cc is worth it. Smother is in the board and with the 3 Damnations and 4 counterspells creatures don't seem to be a problem. I also run Shackles in the SB which are the nuts against aggro.

Thank you frogboy for not deleting this, it was a lot eaiser to just start a thread then to PM a bunch of people I don't really know.

Not sure why you wouldn't just play Fortier.dec, or one of the PTQ Worlds decklists :/.
