Trinisphere and Chalice for One.

Suppose that I have Trinisphere out, and I want to cast Chalice of the Void for one. Under normal conditions, I know I would need to pay two total. What happens under Trinisphere? I'm thinking that I need to pay three total, but am not entirely certain.

Yes, you need to pay 3.

Even if want to cast Chalice for 0, you'll have to pay 3.

You'll have to specifify before paying the mana how many counters you'll put on the Chalice.

Trinisphere has a unique effect; it's always applied last when calcuating costs.

The order, from 409.1f, is: Cost, + increases, - reductions, + Trinisphere.

X is just a normal cost. You don't technically specify how many counters, but rather what you're choosing for X.
