Had an interesting one come up. If an opponent casts Browbeat and you decide to take the 5 damage from it can the opponent redirect the damage to your planeswalker since he controls the browbeat?

I have to admit that one stumped me.

I have to admit that one stumped me.

"212.9g If noncombat damage would be dealt to a player by a source controlled by an opponent, that opponent may have that source deal that damage to a planeswalker the first player controls instead. This is a redirection effect (see rule 419.6c) and is subject to the normal rules for ordering replacement effects (see rule 419.9). The opponent chooses whether to redirect the damage as the redirection effect is applied."

So it does indeed look like the browbeat player can redirect the damage to a planeswalker.

Thats right, browbeat will deal 5 damage and you can then choose to redirect it to the planeswalker. Intresting...

That's what I get for not having a copy of the rules handy with the new planeswalker stuff in it.

Thanks for the quick response though. Luckily I called it right.
