Sweet. See you there. I'll round up as many people as I can.

I'm dragging Brian by his hair if I have to.

I'll be there, up from Corvallis.

And we shall go on an epic journey of dragging people to the tournament (read: Noah, Brett, etc.)

And Joe, Ryan, Bardo...come on guys, you can do it!

And I'm really excited that the Seattle guys are going to make it to this. I promise, one of these days, I will make it to one of your Friday ones. We totally were going to that Saturday tournament, until we learned that only 6 people show up, and they aren't even Ninjas.

So the Batcave is full every Friday, but AW doesn't get anybody. Can any make it down from Washington?

Oh and Volt, reading the tourney report, it really makes me want to build a Black Stompy list with MD Plague Slivers, Chalice, Trini, and othe goods. Might as well throw in Nether Voids too, since I can proxy them up.

DeathwingZERO

I will do my best, but this is the weekend following my first week of training at the new job, so I'm not sure about weekends. Hopefully all will be well, I'll be doing Monday-Friday (I believe), and my Sunday will be fine.

Probably not. It's an extra 30 minutes or so South of the Batcave for us, and we already have a weekly up here that's roughly ten minutes away from my house. I mean, we could make it down there every once and a while (probably to use proxies to test out our latest Frankenstein-esque creation), but you can be pretty sure you won't see us weekly.

There were Ninjas there. 3 of the 6 were Ninjas who drove from Seattle. Also, according to Brian, now that the shop owner knows that people are willing to come from out of town he's going to call around and get some more local support as well. Hopefully there will be more than 6 next time.

Oh no, I was just talking about the people who went to the weekly tourney and played Chris. I just want AW to keep hosting Legacy tourneys with at least ten people and more people from the batcave would help.

@ Volt
True, thats why I don't play Demon Stompy.

Come on. You know you want to. Please?Man, i'd really love to. Maybe this summer.

(I'm driving 19 hours to Louisiana the 17th, returning for the 24th -- I don't think I can do it.)

Now if it were Vancouver, BC...

DeathwingZERO
01-14-2008, 05:56 PM
That's fine, I was thinking about getting together a larger tournament for the summer anyways. Something with an awesome prize payout (like dual drafting). It just depends on whether or not I can get some really good playables before that time comes.

mujadaddy
01-14-2008, 05:59 PM
I like cash, too

DeathwingZERO

If you can't find a way to drop a playset of duals onto another Legacy player at a tournament that big, you don't deserve to be in this format :p

AngryTroll
01-15-2008, 12:21 AM
From talking to the Batcave regulars, it seems most of them find the half hour drive down to the south side of Portland on a Saturday afternoon daunting. I don't get it, but that's basically the story I'm being told.

Waaah, Vancouver-ites. Try it Friday during Rush Hour.

But yeah, this big tournament will be awesome. And if attendance picks up for the Saturday Washington Tournament, I'd be up for it.

A DLD would be sweet over the summer.

Is there interest in setting up a multiplayer Elder Dragon Highlander before/after the Sunday tournament? I've always wanted to try that.

AngryTroll
01-18-2008, 12:49 AM
Oh, no, the dreaded double post.

So, can we get people to commit to come to this? Chris, Nick, and I will be there. Seattle people? Ryan? Bardo? Brett? Joe? Noah?

Chris, maybe really talk it up, fliers, the whole nine yards at Batcave tomorrow to give people a week to try and make it?

DeathwingZERO
01-18-2008, 08:22 AM
I should be committed 100%. My training schedule should be 8-5 M-F for the next 3 weeks, leaving my weekends fine. I just probably won't be sticking around much if the thing goes into later rounds.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to make the idea of playing Legacy appealing to more people in the first place.

Hookers for the top 8?

frogboy
01-19-2008, 02:49 AM
someone should harass the GP Vancouver TO to hold a Legacy side event. I figure posting it in here will get someone sufficiently motivated to figure out how to do that to, well, do it.

Also, here's a teaser for a future event...

Details are still being worked out, but I am organizing a "Duel for Duals" type tournament to be held at the Batcave on June 29 (tentative). Entry fee will be along the lines of $20 or $25. Prizes will consist of a playset of 40 dual lands to be drafted by the top 8 finishers. Prizes will be GUARANTEED.

Volt, I could hug you. And I might this Sunday. If you need any help with this at all, let me know if there's anything I can do. It's about damn time we had one of these over here in the West.

I need duals!!! This is awesome, I really hope I don't have anything going on then. I think this will attract a lot more people just because saying you get 100 bucks of cards, IMO, is better than 100 bucks of cash.

Because I'm such an egomaniac, I felt it was necessary to let you know that I was the one that brought the idea up with Volt, as I've been mulling the idea over since the inauguration of the Batcave monthlies. This is basically going to be a make-it-or-break-it type of tournament, we're putting the money down, and hoping some people actually show.

The duals will be guaranteed as said, and will basically guarantee that top 2 have 2 draft picks to work with, while 3rd-8th get 1. If more people show up, I'd be inclined to push that to where 1st-4th get 2 picks, and 5-8th get 1. Something like a set of FoW and a set of Wastelands, for instance.

And to all you pussies talking about needing "big payout with little to no effort", if you miss this, I'm declaring Jihad on your asses. You know who you are.

I will drag you out of your house, tie you up, put a bag over your head, prop you up in front of a camera with the big Magic "M" as a backdrop behind you, and proceed to speak of your crimes against our religion, and then behead you.

Or maybe I'll just whoop your ass and drag you to the tournament. Or just take the $25 from you and be on my way.

Bardo

AngryTroll
01-24-2008, 11:03 PM

Pinder
01-24-2008, 11:16 PM
I'm guaranteed, as I expect a few of my friends are as well, but I can't speak for them, so for now I can only confirm me.

But expect more.

DeathwingZERO
01-24-2008, 11:54 PM
Are we confirming people for this weekend, or the June one? Cause as far as I care for June, all of you with accounts on here better be 100% confirmed, and we'll see when we get closer to the end of that month who's going to puss out or have some cop out excuse.

As far as this weekend, I'm pretty certain (about 99%) that I'll make it, as long as Saturday night doesn't screw me over too much (it's really hard trying to go to bed before 2am and still get up at 6:30 guaranteed after years of not doing that)

Bardo
01-25-2008, 12:59 AM
Cool. It's on then--even if it's just me beating the shit out of Pinder and Don. :)

See you all on Sunday. I'll send the customary "get the fuck out of your apartment, motherfucker" PM to ZillA.

Volt: Dual for Duals... I have two play sets plus a few random ones, so I'll talk to Midget and see if we can help you make this happen...

As fur the 27th... Wife Says I can go... So Midget should be there...

I'm not sure about friday night at the cave, I might have to work saturday at 5 am, when I go to the cave I don't get home until 11:00 pm, on a good night.... so I won't know until i get to work today...

C) Yawned

Dude, you cannot miss the D4D. It's in your honor! And by you, I mean you, Bardo, Zilla, and anyone else who's red name is far from proven in actual tournaments. (Non- NW mods don't think this is directed towards you, I don't have enough personal knowledge of any of you to span this out further)

Ya, I just went there.

As far as I'm concerned, none of you are any better than me. So while Volt and I cry at the fact that some of you probably will take home a set of duals you'll never use again, we can at least smile knowing they won't be the good ones, cause we'll have them already.

no one will know what I'm bringing!

this is because I won't test and won't have a deck until the morning of the tournament. this better start after noon, btw.

If I can go to this, I will probably play something totally metagame dependant and lose to Pox or something. LD is annoying. Anyways, I may need Thoughtseizes for this, so will anybody lend them out to me? Not sure if I will need them because I just threw the deck together, but will someone let me know if they can bring them? Thanks

Unfortunately the time is going to be that early. Since we're keeping this as a Sanctioned event in our minds while working on it, we have to pretty much treat it like one (and we plan on it staying a Sanctioned event when it's finalized).

Our goal is 40 people. With that, we want to give everyone the time for the full 6 rounds, cut to top 8, and not feeling rushed, all while still being able to get home at a reasonable time. Not many of us lately have been to a larger event, and a lot of people from the area will probably have this as their first one. We'd like to make sure things go smoothly for everyone, especially Mike @ Batcave.

I'm also going to use this as a little sidestep to another linked matter. Our attendance at Ancient Wonders has been pretty atrocious, and the Batcave regular monthly tournaments slacked off quite a bit too, but we can chalk that up to seasonal issues for one or two.

Basically, we need more people to show up to these, and we need them in the next few months. The whole point of the D4D is to show that some of us in this community are absolutely serious about this becoming another strong portion of the Legacy data. Chris has already worked out some things to pass out, both of us are getting a hold of everyone in the Portland/Seattle crew, and we're still pushing word of mouth at both stores.

Ancient Wonders especially makes for an amazing playtesting ground. We're literally giving you usually 1/3 to 1/2 the decks FREE OF CHARGE, and in addition, we're giving out prize support to those who are actually pulling out as victors.

WHY is this NOT working?

I'm not venting here, I literally want to know what reasons are keeping a lot of you from coming in. So do me a favor. Hit up the "Weekly Ancient Wonders" thread, and give me a list of things keeping you guys from coming in. If it's as simple as "work", "family/gf/bf", etc...just put it there. At this point, I really just want to get a headcount on why a tournament that I'm sure a number of players from any other section of the globe would LOVE to see, we're not getting support for.

AngryTroll

Any mod from the area that doesn't show up to the Duel for Duals is going to get an earful, I can tell you. We're looking at you, Mr. WoW. And you, Seattle man. Mod with family that at least shows up once in a while, and used to write for Star City, you have been glanced at, but we're really glaring in the direction of the other two.

DeathwingZERO

Any mod from the area that doesn't show up to the Duel for Duals is going to get an earful, I can tell you.

Any mod that doesn't show to this is going to get much more than an earful. And this goes for Mr "I've got a personal army worth of firearms at my front door". You know who you are. If you can't even show up to this thing, you may as well ban yourself from the site.

I mean really, what the hell would I have to do to get some of you guys out here? We're giving 5 MONTHS of advance time. We've GUARANTEED top 8 payout, regardless of entries. We're even putting it IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TWO STATES. You've even got a bar ACROSS THE PARKING LOT. Seriously, the only thing left I could do is pass out $20's and give you directions to the nearest strip club afterwards. And none of you are worth that, so just get that thought right out of your head.

Highly doubting Brett or Joe will make this one, as I've been told Brett has been out of his house since 7am. Last weekend he had done the same, and that was going to the casino. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's the same this weekend.
