What ever happened to one of greatest 2 drops in magic ? Isn't the metagame suited to it, or people don't play him because there are better things ? I think he is not getting the love he deserves, he dodges most of the removal avaliable in legacy, and can be used to discard some goodies into the graveyard (life from the loam, wonder, etc).
What's your opinion ?

Maybe because there is another 1G creature that is constantly bigger and better?

Wild Mongrel only fits in cards that can use the graveyard or discard (like U/G Madness) If you don't discard cards, Wild Mongrel is always a 2/2.

However, the other popular 1G, on the other hand... can grow beyond a 2/3 quite quickly.

Wild Mongrel can block the other 1G creature all day no matter how big he is...

But in an offensive poit of view... the other 1G creature is obviously bigger...

Mongrel was great in his day. U/G Madness just isn't the force it was and there really isn't another deck it fits in to. Not to mention it can't compete with Tarmogoyf.

I used to think UG Madness was good. Then I cut the Mongrels for Goyfs. Then I cut all the madness cards. Then I said fuck it I'll just play Thresh. The End.

I play tarmogoyf in my blue green madness deck, it works fine, actually quite funny to discard card in response to lethal damage to a goyf, even though it´s not a "mad" synergi. I think the two big "1G" should fight together. :laugh:

Mongrel is the second best creature in my aggo loam deck. Goyf is third/fourth with terravore.
