Lemme Explain choices

Mountain- Red mana obviously
Bloodstaied Mire- Thins the deck, less chance to draw land and more chance to draw spells
Wooded Foothills- See Above
Barbarian Ring- Nigh uncounterable burn, and makes red

Chain Lightning- 3 Damage for 1 Mana
Lightning Bolt- 3 Damage for 1 Mana instant speed
Incinerate- 3 Damage for 2 Mana instant speed, kills regenerators
Magma Jet- Not great damage to Mana ratio, but provides card filtering and makes you draw more spells.
Fireblast- Is basically your finisher, free 4 damage to end the game

Jackal Pups- Good Power to mana cost ratio
Slith Firewalker- Good fast creature that your opponent HAS to destroy or remove before it gets out of hand.
Mogg Fanatic- Usually a guaranteed 2 damage at the least and kills ichorid combo
Keldon Marauders- Guaranteed 2 damage, usually ends up being 5 though
Ball Lightning- Swings for 6 and costs 3 mana. Self explanatory.

Sideboard
4 Pyrostatic Pillar- Hoses combo hardcore
4 Sulfuric Vortex- Hurts angel stompy, deadyguy, etc
4 Tormod's Crypt- Hurts graveyard decks
3 Meta Slots- These can be anything from pithing needle to well pretty much anything

I basically tell him that the deck isn't burn and he starts to pull a hissy fit. I try to explain it to him but he just goes off on some tangent about how sligh > burn.

Because when I am trying to give good advice to someone and then have some jackass post a completely different deck type and claim it to be the same "arch type", it's annoying.

FWIW, any list that starts "4 Jackal Pup, 4 Slith Firewalker, etc. is NOT burn. It's some kind of Sligh/Red Deck Wins concoction. "Burn" is just instants and sorceries, with the occasional exception of Mogg Fanatic or Spark Elemental in bad builds. The more creatures you add, the less of a "Burn" deck it is. Another way to look at it, is that Burn is a slow combo, where Sligh is more Aggro-Aggro-Control.
