Echo

Is echo an activated ability?

I was at a type two tourney, and a guy was trying to pay his Timbermare's echo cost with the guy who taps for 2 mana for elementals' ccs and activated abilities. I said he prolly couldn't, because it's a triggered ability. But I am usually wrong......

No, it's a triggered ability. Activated abilities go [cost]:[effect]. The colon is the easiest way to tell if it's an activated ability.
