[Report] Wareham, Dragon Stompy

Wareham's Goyf tournament on 2/16/08 had 17 Players :frown: and had 4 rounds of swiss with cut to top 8. I placed 1st overall in the swiss and 5th overall in the tournament.
Heres My Current Deck list:

Anyways, on to the Swiss.
Round 1: Vial Slivers, Roddy (RoddyVR)
Game 1: Chalice for 1 holds his hand back and then two swings of Rakdos Pit Dragon end it.
Game 2: Its a close game but he has 2 Sinew Slivers in play and a Crystalline. During his upkeep he worldly tutors for Winged Sliver and flys over me for game.
Game 3: Ingot Chewer Kills his vial and Beats him down with a pair of Hellbent Gathan Raiders.
Rounds: 1-0-0, Games: 2-1

Round 2: UG Countertop Madness, Matt Moos (Not registered)
Game 1: Blood Moon+Trinisphere in addition to a hellbent, jitte equip Raiders take him down.
Game 2: Similar to game 1, but this time it's a Rakdos Pit Dragon.
Rounds: 2-0-0, Games 4-1

Round 3: Dreadstill, Rodney (Roodmistah)
We I.D. because we want pizza and don't really want to play a game decided by the die roll.
Rounds: 2-0-1

Round 4: Rgw Vial Goblins, Jon Nickerson (Not registered)
Game 1: He's to fast and I get gang banged.
Game 2: 2 Pyroclasms and a Jitte equip Magus go all the way.
Game 3: He's mana screwed and I've got a Hellbent Dragon and a Chewer who killed his vial and only source of creatures.
Rounds: 3-0-1, Games 6-2

Finals:
Top 8: Aggro Loam, Ben (from_Cairo)
Game 1: He gets me down to 1 but an active jitte, a Hellbent Rakdos Pit dragon and a Magus of the Moon put exactly lethal through on my last turn.
Game 2: I have Chalice for 0 and 1 and a Magus of the Moon out. He then topdecks a Seismic Assault and kills Magus a turn later he topdecks burning wish->life from the loam and goes nuts.
Game 3: I have Chalice for 2 out, but I'm mana screwed after two wastelands and then he Plays not 1, but 2 Countryside Crushers... :cry: anyways they reemed me.
End of Story 1st over all at end of Swiss, 5th overall.

Gratz on making Top8. Was there a particular reason you didn't have such a big turnout? That's really disappointing. I hope in the future you will have more success than this particular event. I also plan on going once I have a different deck built. I'm really sick of BG Enchantress. There's only so much you can tweak a bad deck. :wink:

The weather was good so there really should have been a larger turnout. I think we didn't get a lot of western Mass people that had planned to come but couldn't make it at the last minute.

Any reason you set Chalice at 0 and 1 against Aggro Loam. While they ar eboth decent plays depending on the build, Chalice @2 is almost always ten times stronger. Did you not have 4 mana maybe?

My guess is Chalice at 0 was for his Mox Diamonds which can be huge early. As for 1 I have no idea unless it was running white. 2 Basically = game over.

Yes Chalice for 0 was because he was mana light and I wanted to shut off Mox Diamond. Chalice for 1 was because I was terrified of swords with the threat light hand I had at the time. (Little did I know he didn't run Swords).

2 Basically = game over.

You'd think that Until Ben is like Oh Countryside Crusher, next turn, Countryside Crusher again. (See game 3 of top 8 :cry: )

We assume it was a combination of TMDO and the PTQ Qualifier.
