So I want to get people's opinion's on signed cards. What's worth more, whats more "pimp", a signed card or an un-signed one.
I am going to GP Philly and don't know if I want to get my Judge Foil Grim Lavamancer's signed. I have other signed cards in the deck but they are mostly commons and umcommons. I have heard stories of cards loseing their value after being signed. I don't plan on getting rid of them any time soon and think they would look really cool signed, even though Mike Sutfin has a really sloppy sig. So signed or un-signed?

I guess it's really just personal preference. I really like signed cards, but I don't think I'd pay anything more for a signed card, unless maybe it was altered or something like that. I defiantly don't think it's worth any less though.

Richard Kane Ferguson (http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/index.aspx?term=ferguson&Field_Artist=on&setfilter=All%20sets)
Mark Poole (http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/index.aspx?term=poole&Field_Artist=on)
Michael Sutfin (http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/index.aspx?term=sutfin&Field_Artist=on&setfilter=All%20sets)
Why is it that everytime I see a Team NWO tag in a signature I want to listen to http://youtube.com/watch?v=DGiv2NvlvpU?
Oh, content...
I like having stuff signed and all, and it increases and items value to me, but I don't expect that to reflect monetarily. I'm not gunna shell out more cash to buy signed goods, however.

I dont prefer signed card, unless theyre like altered or something. It prolly doesnt decrease the value though, unless its like Ron Spears' sig or something

I like having stuff signed not by the artist, but the guy that made that card great (well, sort of).
Eg. I got my High Tides signed by Deep6er, and I'd like to have some signed enchantresses by Lonelybaritone.

I have a set of Avalance Riders signed by Ed Beard and Darwin Castle..pretty sweet looking...
IMO, signing doesn't affect the card's value at all; however, if you were to get an artist to alter then sign it, (as long as it's good) I'd value it higher.

I really think it depends on who you ask. I mean, I think they're worth more, personally, but I've seen and heard of people who sometimes even value them less if they get signed. Either way though, I like to get my stuff signed because it adds a sort of nostalgic value. You get to remember the circumstances and show off to your friends (like the Bruce Campbell signed All Hallow's Eve, I'm sure there's a story there).

Yea that makes the cards worth less.

I think the card is worth more if the artist alters the card and does not have a horrid sig.

To rational people, maybe.

I think it depends on the cards. The rarer and older a card is, the less it tends to gain from being signed.

Heh, a running gag is that Poole signs so many cards [Librarys in particular] that if you get one signed it is worth less than an unsigned one.
I myself love signed cards.

signed cards are one of a kind and once the artist is dead they are even harder to get. I have lots of signed cards by mainly artists and in fact some are worth more than the unsigned foils when it comes down to trading them.
That is why I couldn't let 8 IA Chris Rush Signed Brainstorm slip away from me when I went to go deal with the dealers at GP SJ because they were special opposed to the unsigned ones I had from the MM Block.
Although I'll never get my Glen Angus cards signed as he died before I even got the chance to meet him.

If you have any expectation of getting rid of your cards, check Ebay to see whether or not similar cards benefit from being signed.

I love signed cards, so of course I say go for it
That being said, I think once you've gotten a card signed it can be a little tougher to get rid of it. Some people love sigs, but many don't (or don't care). I agree with the notion that signed cards have personal value, as all of mine were gotten by me (conventions or mail, not purchased or traded for) and will be buried with me when I die
Good luck at the GP!!!
Take it easy,

Signing a card will make it 'played' in the eyes of a buyer. If it's already played or you have no plans of reselling it, go right ahead. Also, if it's power, get it signed, obviously. Already pimp cards are your discretion: I personally think getting promos signed makes them look like shit, but if you want to, go ahead. Some artists are notorious for having awful signatures, can't think of any off the top of my head, and some are awesome. Just take a look at some cards the artist has done before you go for it, if possible.

after reading this, I got the image of someone opening a coffin and using a dead guys hand to sign their card. lol

I personally think that a signed card would be worth more, however I dont know if i'd pay much more for a signed one, i'd rather have it signed though, but some people may not like it,
