I do not think any of Team Left Field fears the power of Burning Tog. Now if you were to play a different deck  maybe we would take you into consideration of affecting us at all.

What does that have to do with future events? Just because you split the $500 tourney does not mean you can win the next tourney. It gives you a 1 in X chance of winning again where X is = to the number of players. Personally your team has a real good chance because you are made up of G:cool:  D players who really know how to play the game.

EDIT- Actually, my plan for winning this tournament is to play a deck that is so bad, my opponents eyes bleed, now when your eyes bleed you generally can't see anything, then I will tell my opponent that I have a Marit Lage token in play with Haste. Rinse and repeat until the Goyfs are mine.

The satisfaction of pillaging women and children in sealed deck competition sometimes > Legacy. Then selling your packs of winnings to the vendors to make back your money and repeating the process  . With the added bonus of it being a great venue to trade away WORTHLESS new rares for semi-worthless old rares, or exchanging them for semi-playable uncommons... win.

Most of the people that go to prereleases arent casual players. At least not in my experience. Most of the people that attend are very avid standard players that want to sink their hooks in chase cards while they're hot.

The more casual crowd will often opt to wait for a release event and go to their local store then an exclusive site somewhere like Boston.

Your also not ripping someone off if they think about a cards value before Starcity Games tells them. I remember grabbing several Greater Gargadons and Flagstones at the TSP prerelease while people thought they were a buck each.

I traded for 4 Foil Goyfs at 8 dollars in trade a piece. I think that trumps your little minor accomplishment. Plus, trading is better than actually spending money.

I ran a free for all and one of the players didn't have room for the lands so he did not put them in there. One player built an elf deck with 4 wellwishers and gained over 600 lives, one player had a 85 card deck with 6 asst.Tims and a Silent Arbiter. This is why noobs never play in tournaments. This is also why we do not see certain magic players on the source who frequently post about everyone else going and what the decklists were before the tournament ends.

There is no such thing as a bye in a Magic tournament when someone is sitting across from you. You should take every opponent across from you seriously, no matter what they're playing. I give my opponents more respect than that.

We all used to be scrubs at one point.

I agree. If you a treating certain players as byes, then your not even close to becoming a good magic player. Good players take all opponents seriously, so they minimize on losing to matchups they should win.

A lot of it has to do with your mind set, determining if your an average player or a good player.

After realizing that it cost me half a tank of gas (well almost) to go to the Wareham tourny last weekend, i would realy like to find some people that are going from worcester with who to split the gas expenses of going to this thing.

Send me a PM if you're interested in either getting or giving a ride to this from Worcester.

Worse than that, If you lose to someone that you think is a bye for you, It's like a kick in the face if you lose against them. That's one of the main reasons it's good to be humble.

Gatherer acutaly sais that "this card is BACK to being a sorcery" so it must have been an enchantment for a while.
And if i understand ALegend's rationalle correctly, the reasons for it being in his sideboard are as follows:
1. Belcher doesnt need all 15 of its sideboard slots.
2. Winning with a deck that has it in its 75 cards adds atleast 100 coolness points to the whole process.
3. If burning wish isnt gonna save you anyway, might as well get AllHollow'sEve and have some fun while losing.

Besides all that can you immagine how funny it would be if the price of allhollows eve starts skyrocketing because all the people who just netdeck without understanding the decks they're ripping off have to start bying them up to complete their belcher lists.

Hell i've got a prety useless sideboard slot in my deck, maybe i should put some utterly useless card (norin the wary comes to mind) in there to freak people out.

I don't want to waste acceleration - and potentially a turn - to make an opponent discard a card. The deck doesn't pack a whole lot of black, remember, but for the black it packs those cards are critical. Dark Ritual wins games. Thoughtseize doesn't.

What disruption do you play? Any at all? I've been a fan of 4 slots dedicated to protection such as Xantids or Duress. But if your going so well with a balls to the walls version than I might try it as well.

Not to nit pick (I lied - very much to nit pick), but are you familiar with how soon "very soon" is? Like, at my last check the event was scheduled for the 19th of July. Which, a cursory investigation yields, is precisely 3 months away.

Edit: -1 day.

Honestly Zach, give it a rest. I was joking around with the whole "very soon" part, and if you knew me, you would also know what I was trying to say.

Do you have a problem with me or something?

A comment like that is just something out of the blue if you didn't have another issue of some sort.

I would like to thank everyone that came out for the event. We had 31 people, which is amazing for a prerelease weekend. I will post the top 8 deck lists tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks again to everyone that came out, and don't forget Type I for a mox emerald this Sunday (4/27)

I'm glad to see James Mankins put up another solid finish. I just wish he'd start an account here on the Source.
