I'm sure this is a common problem: Magic player graduates, finds job, moves, and can't find anyone to play with anymore. What is there to do?

I always figured I'd have time to lurk around and find a group of people I can hang out and play magic with on weekends, but I've had no such luck. The place I moved to is Harrisburg, PA, and I hardly know anyone in the area. The few hobby shops I've had time to scope out were either closed or didn't even know what MtG was. I was very lucky that one of my co-workers plays, but he still lives with his parents and makes an hour commute everyday, so he's content playing with his old friends and me over lunch break.

I guess I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but is there anyone on The Source in my area? If not, does anyone know how I'd go about finding a group?

Thanks in advance.

[EDIT: I'm not sure if this is the right board for posting something like this. I apologize if that's the case, and could one of the mods move it to the proper board?]

First, I recommend putting your actual location in your profile. When I saw Massachusetts folk, I would send a friendly PM saying hey and stuff. That's how I met many players in my area and arranged rides to tournaments and stuff.

Second, I would suggest looking through this thread (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1798) in the Tournament forum. Scout out some local stores and check out the Legacy scene if there are any nearby.

Edit: You already did number 2, but the first one is still a good idea.

Follow the smell.

(Sorry. I had to.)

Heh. Nerd humor.

Or geek. I was a DnD kid too, so I've heard it all.

Yeah, I took a quick browse through that link, but I didn't see anything for Harrisburg.

Yeah I think i'll have this problem soon, but im fairly sure after I graduate i'll still talk to all of the competent players, just no more wailing on noobs. :'(

hangs low and when the time comes along hits hard back.

In fact I haven't been able to go over to Berkeley since I don't got a lot of funding left and the season for Legacy is dormant for the year. Although it gives me a good time to strike in on stuff I wouldn't had been able to acquire in the past few months, I'll be able to build a few more prototypes off hand in the time I am not filming.

There seems to be a big gap in the Eastern seaboard; the NY/NE area has plenty of players, and there are lots in ME/VA, but none in NJ/PA. I'm smack in the middle of this gap; it's awfully hard to find players in this area.

If you find anything east of you, let me know; I'll be glad to drive west for some tournament Magic.
