View Full Version : RSS: The Source
I personally enjoy RSS. It lets me keep up to date on things that I sometimes forget to check up on. Unless you're Pinder and live on The Source, you might find this cool.
I ran across text that was exactly the same as The Source from a Google search but didn't come from there so I investigated. Here's where it came to: http://www.mtgpop.de/index.php?text=source
So, there you have it. The Source's RSS feed.

Interesting, but it only shows new threads, not new posts. For that, you can put the New Posts link (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew) among your daily bookmarks.

I have a link in my bookmark tool bar and use the "Today's Posts" function. It's easy accessibility is useful when I think, "Who's attacking Bonovius/latest green-namer/Cavius the Grape now?"
I tried the RSS feed once, but I didn't like the fact that it only showed new threads and cluttered my tiny Google Reader.
Cavius, I really like your die-hard Johnnie designs - seriously. But - and understand that I mean this in the kindest sort of way - you need to stop displaying your needs so prominently.
"associates with thugs"
"...drinking a 40-ounce"
"Cavius {deckname}"
"[I googled myself, look how many people like me]"
"[I'm great, just look at my name]"
And damnit, get upset when people poke fun at you. Not doing so makes others think it is somehow cool to do so. It also speaks aloud that you have learned to accept others making fun of you often. You can thank your friendly neighborhood admin for painting a target on your forehead (inadvertently or not, it was inconsiderate). Expect crap like this thread to grow in number until action is taken.
EDIT: Well, I saw a post by Cavius in this thread. How did it disappear?
Oh, I didn't realize that it was new threads only... That is considerably less useful. Also, this thread isn't about Cavius, I was merely mentioning how I came across the site (I'm going to take it out so people don't obsess over it more).
I've used the do=getnew thing for about 3 months actually but I use Thunderbird to keep up on my RSS (I have a bunch now: various news sites, MTGS, Penny Arcade, xkcd, slashdot, etc.) and it's really useful. If anyone knows an RSS for new POSTS for The Source I'd like to know.

..drinking a 40-ounce"
Huh? Most of the time when you guys read my member description, I am in the park drinkin' a 40 ounce.
And I'm intraweb iliterate just about. Can someone explain to me what an RSS Feed is?

The point is none of us give a shit if your drinking a 40.
Basically an RSS feed just tells you whenever something updates. I use them for Woot and xkcd.com and some music sites, someone that knows how they work can tell you more.
And I'm intraweb iliterate just about. Can someone explain to me what an RSS Feed is?
An RSS document [...] contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with web sites in an automated manner that can be piped into special programs or filtered displays. [...] The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed's link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds.
Here's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS#RSS_2.0) and example of what an RSS feed looks like in straight data form (before being outputted and formatted by the reader).
