Hi guys, I suddenly became impressed of this new card from Shadowmoor:
Manamorphose 1(gr)
Instant
Add two mana in any combination of colors to your mana pool.
Draw a card.
Now this is deck thinning! I don't know if it's good, but it's a mana filterer and a deck thinner! Combined with Chromatic Sphere, Chromatic Star, Street Wraith and Helm of Awakening, you could maybe have a pretty good combo deck?
4 Star
4 Sphere
4 Wraith
4 Manamorphose
2 Helm of Awakening
4 Diminishing Returns
4 Force of Will
4 Ponder
4 Brainstorm
4 Mystical Tutor
4 Lotus Petal
4 Chrome Mox
4 Land Grant
4 Lion's Eye Diamond
1 Empty the Warrens
1 Tendrils of Agony
1 Goblin Charbelcher
1 Storm Entity
2 Tropical Island
SB:
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Chain of Vapor
4 Spell Snare
3 Wipe Away
I haven't tested or anything, and this may be an all-out janky list, but this is, yet agian, just an experiment with a new card from Shadowmoor. Kinda like Chainswans or what it's called. So what do you think?
I start my speculations out with: A bit low on mana sources, pretty CB-top vulnerable, my draw7 spell also nabs the opponent FoWs, let me hear you ! :D

Shouldn't 4 helms be the standard here it just makes the deck so much better? I realize it can help your opponent but it should help you more unless they are playing a storm deck also.

This card seems too good to be real. Why would they print this? It goes in every deck with a way to make red or green.

It's rumoured! Salvation has a great track record but Manamorphose has yet to be decidedly confirmed.

Do you think this would really make the cut in say, Goblins? TES might not run it either due to clunkiness, and Manamorphose is free storm. Yeah, it seems really good, and belcher players are really happy, but it's not an automatic 4 of in green and red producing decks.

Seems like when some player sayd that Street Wraith will be played 4x in each deck...

Costs of Street Wraith: Two life. Can be Stifled, if anyone would ever want to.
Benefits of Street Wraith: Hardcasting it. Helps with Mirage tutors and such. Great with Dredge.
Costs of Manamorphose: Needs red or green. It's a blank card until you have two mana. Forces you to commit to tapping mana before you use it -- uncomfortable if the card you want to cast may, but also may not, be on top of your deck. Can be countered, if anyone would ever want to.
Benefits of Manamorphose: Mana filtering. Counts toward Storm and Quirion Dryad and all that. Also helps with Mirage tutors and such, but having to leave two mana open makes it less versatile. Also great with Dredge, but Ichorid will never play it, so who cares.
Costs of both: Mulligan decisions. Things like Goblin Ringleader and Brainstorm.
Benefits of both: Free cycling. Helps with Threshold and Tarmogoyf and such.
Basically, the reason Wraith wasn't universally adopted was primarily the two life, which does actually matter. Manamorphose also has some costs, but nothing so concrete, so it's definitely an interesting question.

It's a free cantrip once you get two mana. That doesn't seem excessively powerful to me in anything but a deck that is filtering viciously for a combo. It's definitely not weak but I'd have a hard time seeing it as breaking the meta.

You can Stifle a cycled ability? I never knew that. Thanks for bringing it up.
I think Stifling a Street Wraith is actually a very strong play. Usually they are in a deck with less than optimum mana resources and people use them as another way to look for land or a combo.

If you're going to mention Stifle you might as well mention that Manamorphose can get BEB'd, Spell Snared, Dazed, and hit by Counterbalance.
