What type of ability is that of worship? Is it a static ability, replacement, or triggered? I think its replacement, but Im not sure.

The "if... instead" structure points to a replacement ability.

It is a replacement ability. Specifically what it replaces is what the damage does. You still take the full damage but instead of reducing your life total by the damage dealt it instead sets your life total to 1.

So for example if you are at 2 and your opponent hits you with an exalted angel, your life total gets set to 1 and they gain 4 life still because they are still dealing 4 damage.
