So the new hybrid "Power"-creatures from Shadowmoor got me thinking.. Can't you abuse them without making another demigodfailure.dec

Here's my take on some of them:

19 Lands

4 Sandstone Needle (don't like these)
15 Mountain

20 Creatures:

4 Ashenmoor Gouger
4 Deus of Calamity
4 Simian Spirit Guide
4 Slith Firewalker
4 Boggart Ram-Gang

21 Spells:

3 Grafted Wargear > Jitte in this build
4 Seething Song
4 Chrome Mox
4 Chalice of the Void
3 Lotus Petal (meh)
3 Trinisphere

15 Sideboard:

4 Tormod's Crypt
3 Shattering Spree
4 Pithing Needle
4 Blood Moon

What this deck tries to do is to win with 1 creature or 2, by being very explosive.. and at the same time you get your creatures to stick, since they can't get StP'ed with Chalice out.. - Kinda like Dragon Stompy right?

But this Deck aims to be even more explosive. With Deus of Calamity being the best red creature around.. 6/6 Trample + recurring Stone Rain for just 5? If it connects once it's almost gg.

The only thing I don't like about the deck is.. I can't run Ancient Tombs/City of Traitors [I could add Blood Moon and Magus of the Moon, but that would slow the deck down incredibly, since you only get 1 mana from 1 land] I tried it out already..

No Rite of Flame due to Chalice - not sure if that's the right thing to do tho..

So the road to go as I see it was to add crappy Sandstone Needles and Petals..

This deck has been doing pretty good on MWS so far.. it still ruins Landstill, can battle combo and loses to jank =P

Why are you running only 3 Trinisphere? I'd run 6, if I could.

it still ruins LandstillThat doesn't seem right. I've heard numerous times that Dragon Stompy has a bad match up against Landstill. This seems like the control match up would be harder without Blood Moons to mitigate.

Hmm, maybe "ruins" is a strong word.. but it's not a bad matchup - and it's better post board of course =)

you could probably fit goyf pretty easily in here. just drop the firwalkers, and 8 mountains for 4 goyf, 4 taiga, and 4 fetch. I dont see any reason why not to run him unless you are looking at the cost of the deck.

To solve the issue, Dragon Stompy's Landstill matchup directly pertains to the strength of the manabase and the speed at which it can drop a Blood Moon. And as every Landstill deck ever struggles mightily with a turn one Moon and is at least damaged significantly by a turn anything-else Moon despite what they'll tell you, Dragon Stompy decks without Trinisphere and with high Threat Density (23-24) generally do very well against Landstill.

Landstill can win it by surviving the initial insane onslaught, with high amounts of threat removal and/or Humility.

I'm aware this doesn't actually pertain to the deck listed above, but it looks pretty awful anyway. Card disadvantage better be negated by strong virtual card advantage, such as what Dragon Stompy generates from Chalice of the Void, incredible disruption, such as what Dragon Stompy generates from Blood Moon/Magus of the Moon, and ridiculously overpowered cards (See Rakdos Pit Dragon, Arc-Slogger.) None of the guys in your deck can deal damage as quickly as Dragon or Slogger, despite that they're cool.
