In celebration of running Legacy events for 2 years now, and the one year anniversary of Off the Wall Games, we will be hosting an exceptionally large tournament for the month of June.

Date: Saturday June 28th 2008
Start Time: 1:00PM Registration begins at 11:30 AM (try to be on time, we will be starting promptly at 1:00)
Type: Legacy (1.5)
Cost: $20.00 (I apologize for the increase of entrance fee, but the prizes I feel justify the increase.)
Minimum of 12 People
Where: 41 Russell ST
Hadley, MA 01035

1st place: Mox Pearl or $275.00 store credit or $225.00 Cash (buy back option)
2nd place: 4x Tundra or 4x Volcanic Island or $110.00 store credit
3rd Place: 4x Tundra or 4x Volcanic Island (Which ever 2nd doesn't pick) . or $100.00 store credit
4th Place: 4x Plateau or $80.00 store credit
5th-8th Places each get a TARMOGOYF
(Thats more than $700 in prizes)
This will be a SANCTIONED event.

This is not just about your team. This smack in the face was about all of the other teams that have all but disappeared in the area. Right now the only 2 places with good Legacy tournaments are DHG and Off the Wall. All I am trying to do is make sure Kevin doesn't have the same problem I saw next week. Besides 'Cuse and Roddy, nobody else seems to be talking about going to this.

I sincerely hope you're right... but considering that a week ago you could have said the same thing about the DHG 500 this last saturday, i'm a little worried. Hadley being much closer to NY will hopefully help, but there need to be a good majority of the MA "regulars" for a turnout to realy be good. Which reminds me... gotta send a message to scrum.

Scrubbed out hard and went with Bryant into X-3 Drop land... For once though I actually feel justified in not blaming misplays. I played tighter than I usually do, but horrible matchup vs. a Rock-Brew/PTJunk styled deck round one, lead into my last minute card audible (i didn't own Chromes until after round 1, fucking ebay scammers) that hurt me round 2, and in round three I just scooped it to belcher having Turn 1 belch both games.

Shit happens, I still had a blast.


Also: FoW brings Survival to Top 8 with no Genesis. How funny is that?

I don't think I've ever seen a Tog deck Top 8 here.

All of these due to me. I rocked Ubg B2BTarmoTog and ripped throught the swiss, drawing with FoW in round one cause I built him his survival deck (whoops forgetting Genesis, my bad:frown:) before reeling off 4 straight wins only losing one game in the swiss. Something like this.

Round 1: Draw with FoW w/ MagusGoyf Survival

Round 2: 'Cuse guy with Ubr Tog
Game 1: I get down CounterTop around turn 4ish, and proceed to take 20 turns before I can find a win condition around my keeping a 2cc and 3cc on top of my deck. I finally play a Tog and start to poke him for one a turn; he then realizes that game 1 has taken ~45 minutes, and scoops them up. I think he could have done this alot sooner and given himself a better chance for game 2.
Game 2: I mull to 5 and keep double FoW, time is called on turn 3 and that's that.

Round 3: PhishnBear w/ dudes+countertop.dec?
Game 1: I smash with a goyf while drawing counters like a pro.
Game 2: I smash with goyf, and still his dude with Sower for the win.

Round 4: Afro Ninja w/ merfolk
Game 1: I mull to 6, and he counters my turn 1 top. I lose.
Game 2: I somehow stabalize at one and jedimind trick him into misblocking, and get there with 3 goyfs+tog.
Game 3: He steals a Bob and proceeds to flip Fow, we exchange beats, I stabalize at 4 and cast Lim Duls to find tog + threads. He grips, but doesn't have a 3rd blocker after my tog OMNOMNOMs his front line.

Round 5: Raider Bob w/Tombstone
Game 1: I have an opener with B2B and some counters and plan to let him overextend. He does, I drop B2B cutting him off to 1-2 mana sources, drop countertop eventually, and start swinging with a goyf. I fuck up and give him a chance to get back in it, but I've got a full grip and goyf swings.
Game 2: He plays around B2B, we exchange some blows. I drop two sowers to steal his goyf and a doran, + my goyf start swinging. He has to block with his BoP to not die, I drop the one B2B I had left which keeps his bayou tapped; he's kept off double black and can't drop the tombstalker in this hand AND swords a sower (I'm at 4). I get there.

Round 6: Legend (I'm guessing) w/imperial painter
We ID. I had a very similar list built, but no grindstones; I personally think this might very well be the best deck in the format at the moment, and is an absolute nightmare matchup for anything blue.

Top 8: Raider Bob w/ Tombstone
Game 1: I save my counters for his big threats and try to generally play safe; I make a HUGE mistake that costs me counterbalance+a goyf, but my extra draw gets me there.
Game 2: He deeds a goyf and bob, then exterpates - as Im holding 2 goyfs, derr. I drop a tog and threaten to swing for the win, he keeps dropping eternal witnesses to block. I finally smother, he drops a Tomstalker. I pull limduls, set up the win, and he extirpates eot. I dig for another sower, for for cspell back up, steal the stalker and swing with tog ftw.

Top 4: Legend w/ Painter
Game 1: I get rocked by double REB+SSG
Game 2: I mull and mistakenly fetch for a second island over my basic swap. He casts MoM, I stare at the Smothers in my hand. Derr.

Overall a solid tournament considering I have never played legacy tog before (although I have tons of experience with the vintage version). Heres the list from memory

Hell, I requested & got off 7/19 for the $1000 tourney & still can't play! Have to drive 7+ hours from Quse to the other side of Pittsburgh to pick up my daughter & then drive 9+ hours back to NNY to drop her at the grandmother's (although I can & plan to drink up at Artese's the night before) :cool: In short, people have all sorts of commitments & obligations (or circumstances like transportation or finances) that prevent tourney attendance so STFU about certain people or areas not showing. If we could, we would be there.

I was the one who lost bocci's ichorid deck, so if it truly is found thats amazing, not quite sure how we will get from Maine to there to pick it up though. I played UW fish. Same thing I've used in T1 for years. I just wanted to play something fun. Here's a breakdown:

Tournament was fun. No major gripes. I do wish the owner stuck around the whole time since it got a little confusing after he left with judge calls and pairings/standings, and I also wish I didn't have people shoving surveys in my face after I lost in top 8 since I was tired/slightly cranky :p

Still, the tournament was overall great and I thank Off The Wall for holding it. It was nice seeing everyone. Not sure the next time I'll be able to make one since it's 2 hours for me and I usually don't come with many people (just me and Eli this time around).

Seeing that you are referring to me I will now respond to your complaining. I was simply making statement that what if they made the trip. Players would end up being turned away. Eastern MA is usually strong in the tournaments in MA and RI and have been dormant for the last two.

Game 1 He ends up going turn 1 Trini, but I can't find land #3 to get it off the board... ohhh well.
Game 2 I Hooligan off a Chalice for 1 and drop way too many threats
Game 3 I bust out the true power of the deck. He drops turn 1 Magus off of tomb and SSG. I drop fetch (mountain) and pass. He drops a City and swings in. I bolt eot and procede to keep him on 1 land for the rest of the game.

Rnd 2 vs Dxfiler w/ Wu Fish
Game 1 I start out with some nice swings, but Grunt comes out and makes it easier for him to win.
Game 2 I come back out with beats again, but follow it up dropping 3 Engineered Plagues. 2 for his x/1's and 1 more on Giant to make Grunt kinda small.
Game 3 We both come out with beats I set up a EE @ 2 w/ Grunt in play but I don't use it til it's way to late and lose due to it.

Rnd 3 vs someone w/ Armageddon Loam (excellent build)
Game 1 I come out of the gates and he doesn't see anything but misses a major chance to win after Geddon and scoops at 2 life.
Game 2 I start fast again but he comes back with 3 Terravores in a row.
Game 3 He plows my army and plows in with his.

Rnd 4 vs someone w/ Ug Dreadstill
Game 1 He drops turn 2 Dreadnaught, I go land Hooligan which he forces take 12 then Hooligan part 2. I build up while he grabs a Top and then procedes to grab another Naught with Trinket #2 I plow in with alot of damage and show the bolt for the win.
Game 2 We enter the same way but EE takes out the Naught w/o problems. I toss him a bone with nuking a SStill but he can't follow it up.

Rnd 5 vs White Staxx
Game 1 I control the board w/ Flow and make it so he loses too much to his own Staxx
Game 2 I drop a T3 Teeg and slowly plow in with a Goyf and win.

Rnd 6 vs Paradigm Shift w/ Rgb Gobbos
Game 1 I paris to 5 and end up going double Burning-Tree Shaman and Goyf but he's Wasteland-screwed.
Game 2 I keep a modest hand and drop Plague on turn 4 and keep control from there.

Players would never be turned away from a tournament. If it ever came to it, I have an entire basement (granted not very clean) but nobody should ever be turned away from a tournament because there is not enough space.

Plus, despite the AC running, with the amount of bodies in the building it was hotter then hell. I would have loved to play down in the basement, even if it isn't very clean, due to hte fact that walking from upstairs down the first few steps was a noticible 10 degree difference.

In short, QFT. Players should never be turned away due to lack of space. Someone will become ingenious and find a place to play, even if it's on the floor, in a basement, or on the hood of a car.

Working Saturdays FTL (and no, I'm not burning sick time for Magic tournaments...). Kevin has awesome tournaments & one of the best stores I've ever seen, but life & family > Magic. Hell, I requested & got off 7/19 for the $1000 tourney & still can't play! Have to drive 7+ hours from Quse to the other side of Pittsburgh to pick up my daughter & then drive 9+ hours back to NNY to drop her at the grandmother's (although I can & plan to drink up at Artese's the night before) :cool: In short, people have all sorts of commitments & obligations (or circumstances like transportation or finances) that prevent tourney attendance so STFU about certain people or areas not showing. If we could, we would be there.

This was a great turnout. I'm sure 2 day event might start up if attendance like this keeps up. Congrats to everyone that made top eight. Especially Left Field who put three guys in top. Me and Pete came in 9th and 10th.

I lost round one playing without Force of Wills. That and my usual loss to Rich put me down.

He built the deck for me we draw and we draw as I sleeve my deck

Round 2 Morphling420 with u/b/w/g aggro control (not quite sure the real name)

game 1:
I keep a hand with 1 land some a bop discard and a survival. He leads with turn 1 thoughtseize on my bop and I sit on 1 land for about 6 turns my discard keeps me alive for awhile eventually I'm able to resolve a survival and take control. I go to search for genesis and I realize it's not in my deck (thanks a lot madmaniac). Anyway even without genesis hasted tarmogoyfs and shriekmaws take it down.

game 2: I don't really remember all I know is I lose

game 3: I lead cabal therapy think about 5 different cards I name. I say Force of will and he has the 4 others I was thinking about instead. (his hand was land land meddling mage thoughtseize brainstorm daze tarmogoyf). he thoughtseizes me and takes a goyf. Turn two I think I ran a survival into a daze on purpose but in retrospect I should have ran the goyf into it. next turn I drop goyf and he swords it. then drops mage and basically has the game won.


Round 3 Left field member whos not raiderbob Konsultant or Legend (sorry I don't know who you are) playing U/R/B control

Both of these games were quick and easy and consisted of me ripping his hand apart with tons of discard and resolving survival.

Round 4: Roddy with slivers

Game 1: I outcreature him with survival and kill everything he plays with FTK and shriekmaws

Game2: he lands a turn 1 vial but when I thoughtseize him I see he has only one other land. A few turns later after taking some beats from a plated sliver and shriekmawing a muscle sliver I b wish for shattering spree and kill his vial.
next turn he plays a fetch on my turn I therapy him and in responce he worldly tutors then I drop a magus and make him pop the fetch. I finally land a survival and my hasty goyfs overrun him because he can't play any other slivers.

Round 5: someone from MA I don't know with U/G/R thresh

game 1: I go bop he goes land mongoose I go thoughtseize survival on his turn he casts blood moon and I have no basics. mongoose keeps getting in for 1. I survival for squee cause I had no other creatures. then I survival for bird. He forces it next turn I survival for another bird then next turn cast it he forces. Mongoose brings me down to like 10 at this point. I then bwish for edict to take it out. With him not having a forest I'm able to finally draw a forest and start pumping out angry goyfs.

game 2: I tap my forest and put my bop in the gy he fetches and puts his bolt in the gy. basically from there he gets a needle on survival and counter top and I'm just sitting there getting my ass kicked by goyfs I draw a grip but it's too late

game 3: this game was pretty redic from what I remember I resolve a survival and time is called with him at 20 life and countertop and a goyf in play endstep I grip his cb and survival for squee/anger/rofellos/shriekmaw. on my turn I drop rofellos and maw his goyf. his turn 2 of time he tops and drops a creatures I think. on my turn I bwish and tsunami and cast goyf and attack. on turn 5 of time I play all my goyfs and finish the game.

Round 6: T.P.S member (can't remember your name for some reason) with u/g/r/b thresh.

Game 1: I go nuts with discard and then resolve a survival nothing he can do after that.

game 2: he fries my turn 1 bop resolves countertop and 2 goyfs and that ends it.

game 3: I keep a weird hand with 3 land 2 goyf 1 indrik 1 grip he mulls and draws 7 I'm a nice guy so I just let him put one back on top he keeps. I go land go. he ponders. I play land go. He plays a goyf. on my turn I play my third land cast goyf he double dazes! he plays land and swings on my turn I play land birds and goyf. he swings I block then he cast counterbalance. I then indrik the cb and he has no fow on top. interesting things to happen he plays a top I grip it. he drops more guys I have a turn where I play some stuff and witness and then have two land to play goyf he says something like are you really going to walk into daze and I know he doesn't have it. basically I shriekmaw his goyfs and have a ton of guys he has to bolt my shriekmaw and I witness it back and kill his other goyf and kill him without ever having playeda survival.

we have an insane match which I lose but it really was a great match wish we could have gotten it on video. ala the pro tour.
