Planeswalker + Propaganda/Ghostly Prison

I'm still fuzzy on the planeswalker rules, and the comprehensive rules don't explicitly mention this...

If I have a Propaganda or a GP in play, can my opponent attack my planeswalker without paying any mana?

I don't mean to necro this question. But isn't this wrong? Damage to planeswalkers is a redirection effect, which would mean the creatures would have to attack the player first (when the costs for propaganda/ghostly prison would be checked), and then 2 steps later upon damage resolution, the source of the attacking damage can choose to redirect it to a planeswalker.

Correct me if I'm wrong here But there is no "I attack your planeswalker." That's a oversimplification, which is relevent here.

You're wrong. Non-combat damage to your opponent can be redirected to a Planeswalker, but you actually attack the Planeswalkers directly. You have to announce it when you announce attacks, and your opponent can decide to block based upon who the creatures are attacking.
