[Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
Hi!
I know that it has been a long time ago since I posted videos, but it had an explanation. The owner of the shop who organized the LCL refused to do it in 2011 one week before it was suposed to start. A group of players refused to accept the death of the Catalan League of Legacy and we started to think how to do it soon. So after a couple of months of work we have organized the first tournament of the year, the February's edition, with a record participation of...114 players! No one expected this success, so we are very happy. This were the prizes with 10€ of entry fee:
1st: 370€ + Cup + Altered Card
2nd: 185€
Top 4: 107€ each
Top 8: 25€ each
Talking now about the tournament, there were a lot of Goblin and Bant decks, but the first ones soon fell to the lowest tables, while the second ones had a great perform, with 4 Bant decks in the Top 8. Overmore, as expected, Merfolk decks sudden have dissapeared from the tournaments, thanks to the rise of Goblins and the fact that now with Stoneforge Mystic, Bant decks have a lot more chances. In summary, the Top 8 was this (bold = winner):
Top 8:
Iván de Castro Sánchez (Maverick Rebels) vs. Toni Anaya (New Horizons)
David Miñarro (MiNasS) (Canadian Threshold) vs. Enric Luzán (Enric) (Pro Mystic Bant)
Toni Miranda (Mystic Vial Bant) vs. Alberto Manchado (Countertop Bant)
Xavier Muntada (Countertop Thopters) vs. Bernat Mir (Pro Mystic Zenith Bant)
Top 4:
Toni Anaya (New Horizons) vs. Xavier Muntada (Countertop Thopters)
David Miñarro (MiNasS) (Canadian Threshold) vs. Alberto Manchado (Countertop Bant)
Final:
David Miñarro (MiNasS) (Canadian Threshold) vs. Xavier Muntada (Countertop Thopters)

So David Miñarro is the winner, congratulations!

Very good videos and coverage !!!
4 bant decks in T8 wow ;-)
Glad to hear, that you all were able to organize such a great event !
Top 8 : interesting games, i'am a little bit suprized that canadian won the whole thing.
I saw you packed No in your bant version , how did it went for you ?
Re: [Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
Interested to see the games of the Tempo Threshold player.
Pro Mystic Bant
Countertop Bant
Countertop Thopters
These matches should all be long and good to watch for anyone who wants to play Tempo Threshold.
Re: [Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
@jeanbathez_ I've been playing NO Bant for a long time, and it's definetely a very good deck and a broken card, it's not a surprise. Now I'm testing it with Stoneforge Mystic maindeck with Natural Order also (like in this tournament), and I like it.
@Cenarius: all the Tempo Threshold's games recorded and will be published soon :)

I meant i was suprised that CT won the whole tournament. I think CT hasn't won many event in the last weeks/months, i think it is a deck that gets a lot of value in the hand of a good player - About NO in your bant version, i only wanted to know how good it was in the same deck with Stoneforge Mystic, i also think that NO is a very good card, but i had problems with my blue count playing NO and Stoneforge. Sorry i didn't made my point clear.
Re: [Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
The vids are well-done without all long thinking moments, just the plays.
The TT vs Bant was a very good match to see :)
Re: [Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
The player (David) is well known in Spain for playing this deck, I don't think that this archetype will return though.
And as I said, the pack NO + Mystic togheter was good, despite that i had to cut Ponders to 1 and flyers to 0, i'm happy, here in Barcelona there are a lot of Goblin decks now.
I'll post another video of the Top 8 in a few hours.

Re: [Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
It is very interesting that an 'outdated' deck was able to win this tournament. Just goes to show that player skill and a little luck goes a long way. No card in Canadian Thresh is really 'unfair', just solid. There is no Show and Tell'd Emrakul, no Natural Order'd Progenitus, no swarm of life-gaing Thopters, etc.
Re: [Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
These recordings are gooood!!! Well done sir!

I'm sorry, but this post is a complete rant against me, Oddball and Tempo Threshold as a whole. Please inform yourself correctly before making lousy comments.

It wasn't intended as an attack, rather I meant it to be a compliment to the winner who piloted this deck. No need to get offended, nothing I said was inflammatory.
And yes, I would say that some of the cards in Canadian Thresh are outdated. Mongoose has been outsized by tons of creatures since, oh, 2009, and running fire/ice and lightning bolt as your removal instead of firespout and/or swords against a field of goyfs and kotrs, etc seems a bit old fashioned. All I was saying was that Canadian Thresh plays 75 'fair' cards against a field of 'broken'. Thresh is still a great archetype, like new horizons, team america, Ubg thresh, or next level thresh.
Re: [Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
Mongoose is INSANE. You just need to topdeck the exact card you need three turns in a row and then it gets there!!!
Re: [Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
I'd like to see a game of the Maverick Rebels list :)
Re: [Videos] LCL4 February - Barcelona 19/02/2011
