[New Card Discussion] Extirpate
Eradication - B
Instant
Split Second
Choose target card, other than basic land, in a graveyard. Search its controller's graveyard, hand and library for all cards with same name and remove them from the game.
Oh my god.... this card seems rediculous. Off the top of my head Salvagers Game just died (remove all LEDs, GG), but it could have tons of other uses. Whada you all think?

Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
I think this hurts Life from the Loam decks the most. I will be interesting to see how many decks will splash black just to play this card.
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
Where is it from? I can't find it in Spoilers. Would definetely fix some problems...
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
MTG Salvation. AKA: Root of Evil. It can make Mill Viable in Legacy... Sorta.
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
Just spoiled from russia on mtgsalvation along with like 40 other cards. They are updating the spoiler atm but there is a big long thread about it in the rumor mill.

Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
WotC hates combo. Why would they give something like that split second?

Maybe they felt bad about giving IGGY Leyline of the Void and Infernal Tutor?
Excellent card, really compliments other black strategies - creature kill, discard, land destruction. The fact that it'll do essentially the same thing as Cranial Extraction but for a fraction of the cost and at mega-super-faster-than-a-speeding-interrupt speed makes it that much sexier. Definite SB material for any deck packing black, but it can probably get worked into the maindeck in decks like Pox or Homebrew as a way to permanently deal with problem cards.
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
I haven't found it first in the Spoiler. On Mtgsalvation.com it is called "roof of Evil"
It is a great card. Finally something that can fight stupid Life from the Loam.
Counter it - Dredge it back, haha
Discard it - Dredge it back, haha
Remove your Graveyard - response cycle land, dredge it back, haha
That was so annoying. And Friggorid, too.

I don't think that this card will kill Combo. You have to bring the Combo piece to Graveyard first, which is not that easy. Usually, about some copies before the moment that Tendrils of Agony or Brain Freeze would touch your opponent's graveyard, you are dead.

Well, whether or not it will have any effect vs. combo decks remains to be seen. In theory, removing all copies of Dark Ritual, Lion's Eye Diamond, High Tide, Reset, or Infernal Tutor after the first copy resolves could be very bad for combo.
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
It can hurt combo, but a lot of stuff can hurt combo. What is important is what kills combo, and nothing really does that (normally) This card could still make mill Viable (imho) Emphasis on the COULD, please.
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
the end of reanimate, Sutered Ghoul, Loam decks. and perhaps if played at the right time (targettin Cunning Wish) the end of Solidarity too...
crazy card with that split second...

How would that affect Cunning Wish, it's removed from the game after it's played, it doesn't even go to the GY, so there would be no way to target it and remove all the copies.
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
yes, you're right. But if they target our first Reset it's the same crap.
bad and crazy card this Eradication, really owns Loam...
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
It doesn't really do that much against Solidarity. They can just get whatever with Cunning Wish. Unless you have discard to hit an early High Tide and pressure to follow up, but as it's a SB card anyway, there's probably better options for that match.
No doubt played against Iggy it seems really good. They could play Ground Seal to try to protect against it. LftL doesn't really have that option.
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
Naming Meditate could be pretty decent against Solidarity. Also, Duressing something and then removing it with this could be ridiculous.
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
The problem about the card is that you have to make them discard first and go for it. Well, you can just target whatever they played, but that alone will not kill combo. Probably need a deck that is built around it to be really good.
EDIT: A brief list of cards/decks that will be hosed by this card.
Life From The Roam
A.K.
Intuition
Survival decks in general
Threshold in general
Ichorid
Reanimation in general
Fetchland/Wasteland(Did not realized that until now)
That's quite a bit, but is it really good that you devote space for it in a deck?
Re: [New Card Discussion] Eradication
this card would have been strong without split second.
with split scond is just broken..

Threshold is not hosed by this card. It creates carddisadvantage for the user unless Thresh has multiples. And it won't destroy their Threshold. Against Survival it does less than a Coffin Purge.
But nevertheless this card is extremely powerful. It destroys Life from the Loam and Ichorid and has an extremely strong effect for only 1 Mana against nearly everything.

Threshold getting hit for goose or bear means much easier game for you. the put cards in their own graveyard, so you have plenty of cards to hit. Their genuine threat count is low(4 goose 4 mage 4 Bear and Co.).

HOLY CRAP I didn't even think about that. Removing fetchlands can be devestating and shutting down wastelands after the first is enticing as well. This card is such a beast.
