[Deck] RGB Welder Survival
.:Intro:.
So I have been tinkering with with Welder Survival for a little while and after trying RGUw and RGU. Even tough White gave me more of a ToolBox option ( Seal of Cleansing/Needle/Crypt) and Blue gave me more draw and Speed (TfK/Intuition) i felt i was way too vurnerable to combo. So i went to black as a soulution 9 Md Disruption and 3 in the Sb also gave me a few dandy trix.

Explinations
Only the ones i feel need explaing are explained ask if you need more explinations
3 Tree of tales - I need artifacts and these guys produce green seems like a good choice to me
1 Ranger - She doesnt provide much to me , yeah i can untap welder but i usually only need 1 or 2 activations
Bone Shredder - Spot removal is good
Ukatabi Orangutan - He's going to be changed to Tin-Street i play him cause im too lazy to find one and I have a shiny one so and yeah...
Sylan Safekeeper - I like him becuase i can protect my welders with my lands and if i can keep my welders out i really don't need land
Arcbound Overseer - He's a nifty trick with Triskleion he can be somthign else but for the time being he's in
Loaming Shaman - Tutorable graveyard hate
Spore Frog - Extra help in the aggro matchup
Gloomdrifter - Is a wrath to goblins and can POSSIBLY help vs EtW storm combo
Viridian Zealot - Artifact and Enchament removal and hes cheap seems solid
Match-Ups
Haven't done much testing I'll post as soon as possible
.:Outro:.
I'm open to any Suggestions/Questions about the deck I can see it still needs more Optimizing. Thanks for reading
Re: [Deck] RGB Welder Survival
Dark Confidant? You're aware you're playing multiple spells with converted mana cost eight, right?
Re: [Deck] RGB Welder Survival
Yes i realized that , but it's the price i have to pay for not having a back up to survival and thats a reason i only run 3.
If i were to take Confidant out what would u recommend to replace it?
Re: [Deck] RGB Welder Survival
I'd get rid of Confidant and possibly those Mesmeric Fiends (-6 cards), add 4 Wild Mongrel, then add either the fourth Duress and Therapy or a couple more Witnesses. This will greatly increase your chances of doing sneaky shit without a Survival (Welder/Mongrel) as well as up your chances of keeping a Survival in play should you get one in your hand.
Re: [Deck] RGB Welder Survival
Here's a link to the Weldzur primer from ages ago but I'm sure it still holds some relivance to this discussion. http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/s...elder+survival
Re: [Deck] RGB Welder Survival
I think this deck could be moved up to Established at least, since it seems pretty solid from my testing...and, of course, it gets a bit from Lorwyn. As for your list, it seems far too loaded with stuff that is only good with Survival.
I have been taking the approach to the deck of minimizing the number of slots dedicated to creatures that are only good with Survival, adding disruption, beaters, and also pseudo-Survival 5 and 6. Interested...?
4 Taiga
4 Bayou
4 Tree of Tales
8 Fetchlands
1 Forest
1 Chrome Mox
4 Birds of Paradise
This is the mana. 21 lands is more than enough with two Rangers, four Birds, and a Chrome Mox (not sure about this, but Welder fodder is good when Survival doesn't show).
4 Survival of the Fittest
2 Buried Alive
Buried Alive = pseudo-Survival. Usually played for Genesis, Titan, Welder, but can also be played for Genesis, Anger, Tarmogoyf or Genesis, Shriekmaw. Slower than Survival and not as versatile, but if this card resolves and you have one or two turns to abuse it, you can bury your opponent under card advantage.
4 Tarmogoyf
3 Dark Confidant
2 Quirion Ranger
1 Mogg Fanatic
1 Eternal Witness
1 Shriekmaw
2 Sensei's Divining Top
This is stuff that is actually decent without Survival. Confidant is ok, there are exactly three cards in the deck I don't want to reveal with it, and I'm going to risk that (Fish decks play that card with four Force). Confidant is actually very good here, as this decks needs card advantage outside of Survival/Buried very much.
3 Thoughtseize
2 Duress
2 Cabal Therapy
Maybe one more Seize or Duress...Therapies are great, but more than two is overkill.
2 Goblin Welder
1 Titan
1 Triskelion
1 Genesis
1 Squee
1 Shield Sphere
1 Anger
Eight cards which kinda suck without Survival/Buried. No fancy tricks here...against almost everything, Trisk or Titan will be enough. You don't really want Welders that bad if you don't have Survival (though Therapy on myself for a Titan is a nice trick), and you don't need more than two, since two Welder activations should be game, and if not, you still have Genesis and Witness, as well as Ranger to get more activations out of one.
Sideboard (this deck can have some problems against aggro):
1 Duress (combo, control)
1 Shriekmaw
1 Ingot Chewer
1 Viridian Zealot
1 Darkheart Sliver (this is needed against burn, actually)
1 Platinum Angel (combo, burn)
1 Shield Sphere (Goblins)
2 Pyroclasm (Goblins, Slivers, random aggro)
2 Flametongue Kavu
2 Tin Street Hooligan
2 Mesmeric Fiend (combo)
So let's see if we can revive this thread/this deck...
Re: [Deck] RGB Welder Survival
I've been working with a G/R splash Blue Weld/Sur build- its crazy fun when it goes nuts, but sorta clunky/slow when it doesn't have a solid hand. I'm pretty positive it stomps agro and does a number on control, but it doesn't offer much disruption until post Sideboard, so combo is probably pretty meh  first game.
I definitely would advocate running Aether Vial though, and would not run Confidant in a number greater than you Sensei's Tops, he really is too risky in this deck with a bunch of 6-8 casting cost guys. Also Tarmogoyf is obscene... Creatures, Lands, Artifacts, Enchantments, Instants(:u:)/Sorceries(:b:)
The only thing that is sort of bugging me about the whole deck concept is the question: "What does this offer over Cephalid Breakfast?"
Both run little vulnerable creatures (Nomads and Illusionists VS Welders) with tutor effects (Worldly VS Survival) to end result bring in fat beaters (Ghoul VS Artifact doods- mostly Sundering Titan) and win out. Breakfast requires two creatures, where as Weld/Sur requires 1 and an Enchantment- but really both go for a devastating creature in the first 2-5 turns and Breakfast does it reliably with counter and discard back up, and it swings for the win the turn it goes off. Weld/Sur generally picks one of the two disruption choices, but also generally the deck is more cluttered with 1-of answers and the draws are more diluted; additionally it takes 3-4 turns to win even after said monster is put into play. I think winning with Weld/Sur is more fun and the options the toolbox offers are more interesting ways to win with than milling yourself and Sutured Ghouling your opponent, but it also might tread that line of "dangers of cool things" in a format where a similar option seems available in a tighter design.
I'm not completely sold one way or another on it, I'm hoping to play around with the deck a bit more and see if something strikes me as an additional improvement.
