How can I see that those cards are summer edition? I can see that the decks grandeur 84 posted are very pimp. But those cards there are just total crappy, white bordered cards, they look quite shabby to tell the truth. This stuff may be expensive, but it still looks pretty ugly actually.
The decks are the most pimp ones I've ever seen however and have many beautiful cards in them.
Summer Magic has darker colors, and also there's the 1994 copyright plus artist credit.Quote:

I completely agree with this. I know how to distinguish between Revised and Summer, but it's not obvious on first glance, so what's the point? Summer cards look terrible, expensive and rare though they may be. That being said, it's pretty impressive that grandeur84 has so many.Quote:

For the people that don't notice it, you don't care. The people that do notice it will be the ones who are impressed. When you're playing Summer, that's all you'll really care about anyway.
If some kid came up to me and called me poor for having white bordered duals (but were Summer), I'd let him have his fun and wouldn't say anything. But, when the aficionado comments on what spectacular pimp you have, that's when you care the most, and you feel proud of your collection.

I used to play Deadguy in Legacy. I had all Japanese foil fetches in the deck. 2 Deltas, 2 Strands (fetches Scrubland), 2 Mires, 2 Heaths (fetches Scrubland). No one ever noticed. Ever. So I eventually sold off most of my Japanese foils. Do I regret it? Not at all.
I actually prefer the older editions of each of the cards I have. I don't like foreign stuff much and really push to get the English version. Unfortunately, that means I end up getting alphas a lot for things, but at least they look good. Kind of like Triskelion. I only use Antiquities ones despite the fact there's a foil one out there. I guess I'm just nostalgic. Though I do like Summer and Guru Islands for sheer pimp value. I use Arabians for Mountains, Sunflower Euro for plains, and alphas for Forest. That's about the only exceptions.

I want to see Slinga's crimped Beta Seas/Vaults and miscuts FoWs. He used to have a link somewhere in his sig. I totally gasped at the oddities he posted. Occam (I think his name) also has a bunch of collections that are insane, but Slinga's the one going for the oddball misprints in MTG, which makes it very interesting to watch his decks (post one up slinga!)

i've got other duresses - 7th foil eng and saga duress - but for me as a collector i always go for variety, it's an issue when i post a 'pimp' deck because it's always random and peps complain :( but i like the variety in my collection and i ain't changing :)
