Outside of the first couple sets I dont think they release the print runs, but in general the portal sets are more limited because they were printed specifically as a set for beginners to play, three kingdoms even more so because it catered more to the asian market. For regular sets, generally the first set is drafted during the whole block, whereas the second and third sets can only be drafted once they are released, so less are opened (since you draft 3x of first set, then a combo of first set and second set like 1 2 1, then 1 2 3) per draft and the later sets have less time as draftable sets. So generally the last set of a block is opened the least and the first set is opened the most, with supply not really being an issue outside of freak sets like worldwake.

This used to be published, but was discontinued around 4th Edition. You can reference this at www.crytsalkeep.com. We guesstimate these values by how larger the MTG playing population has gotten, how long the set is on sale, and the popularity of the set while in print.
E.G., Modern Masters had a singular limited GP tournament, in which 4400 players opened up 6 boosters each. That's at least 1,100 boxes of Modern Masters; and not including booster drafts from Day 2, or the extra side events.
On a side note, holy shit Zendikar fetchlands are worth infinite. I'm half way tempted to sell my spare copies that I picked up during Zen block for my Vintage deck. It's hard to pass up on selling $70 fetchlands.

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
And I thought selling my extras at 50's during the last spike was nuts.
The main problem even if people are wanting these fetchlands to be reprinted is that it'll take 1-2 years for them to actually get out into the market, which doesn't help the price increases now.

What's the cause for this price increase, especially in Paper?

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
So, the Modern event deck is supposed to have Elspeth 1.0 (confirmed), Hero of Bladehold (confirmed) and Marsh Flats (unconfirmed, but very likely). Thoughts?

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
I know there's a mono white enchantments deck in Modern that uses 4 Runed Halo in the main and was recently popularized by one of those fad streamers everyone religiously follows. The deck's bad, but any chance at speculation and people will buy out all the cards everywhere. Or maybe it's TNN hate? Dunno what Legacy deck would want those for that though.

I played said deck for a few games and then sold the cards for profit.
But that's why I'm wondering - the deck sucks, but why does Runed Halo keep raising?

I called BW Tokens months back

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Apparently it'll be mainly white w/ a black splash for removal only, that's why people are thinking a Marsh Flats (or two!) will be included.

For a price of a minimum of 75$, it should contain some serious value, otherwise, it's going to sell like crap.
-
Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Elspeth, Marsh Flats, Godless Shrine, maybe isolated Chapel playset? Also the random token cards arent quarters. Freaking spectral procession is like 2 bucks and such.
-
Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Except that's what we thought about with the last event deck. I also don't think they'll reprint just one fetchland and leave the others behind.

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Sweet fucking Jesus, 4300 players in GP Richmond - whatever comes out on top of this is going to see a massive price spike.
-
Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Nevermind the 40+ players at X-2 with no shot at top 8

They do still get Pro Tour invites though!
... I think? Didn't anyone who was X-2 get an invite if a huge number of people showed up?

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Everytime I want to play modern I always want to play cards that are in legacy and get discouraged because some cards aren't legal :/
Though I have been brewing 5c Tezzeret that seems fun.

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
5 Pod decks in the Top 8 of GP Richmond - looks like Wizards is going to swing the banhammer again soon.

At that point they might as well ban Misty Rainforest too.

At Pod, obviously, since it's a tutor - and Modern isn't allowed to have nice things.

Melira isn't getting banned. Even if they wanted to only ban something from Melira Pod (leaving Kiki Pod unscathed), the far more likely target would be Chord of Calling.

The Kiki Pod deck that won also ran Chord of Calling...
Either Chord or Pod will get banned, I think, although Pod getting banned nerfs only the Pod decks whereas Chord could conceivably still be played in other decks (until it's deemed too powerful and banned too).

It probably comes down to one of these two, but neither Chord nor Pod are ran in any other deck currently.

I think it comes down to what Wizards wants to do with the deck. If they want to just nerf it and keep it somewhat playable, then they can ban Chord. If they want to just kill it dead, then Pod gets the axe.

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
I honestly don't think Wizards will touch anything in Pod. I do think that Affinity and Pod will see a crazy price jump like Twin saw after PT Valencia.

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Check the price of Rishadan Port. TCG Mid $120 now, what the fuck. The prices are going mental for the last few months, time to cry for reprints at WoTC headquarters.

500% in 4 years... I made a nice investement when I decided i wanted to play D&T in 2010 :p
People are starting to understand how strong is the card, even in Legacy.
However, that's just when D&T is somehow hated out of the format because of TNN hate :p

Even investing in February when it was still 75$ would have been profitable:

And I can't imagine that a flood of new Lands players is responsible for that.

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
To be fair, lands has gotten more popular. I'm just waiting on Mox Diamonds to go up. Considering it is a RL card that is fairly strong. Any day now.

To be perfectly honest, at the end of the year, blue duals within 350-500$ price range is what I expect. Since profit margins get smaller percentage-wise the higher the price gets, the more does the price increase accelerate.

Doesn't affect most, but textless foil cradles are 10+k and foil cities are allegedly 15k. Getting stupid.

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
I think its pretty hilarious that Arid Mesa is worth as much as Plateau.
