Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
Yeah he would have had to draw it off his first draw step in order for Bryant to have been able to duress it. Anyways, going for the win is important there. In hindsight had he known the guys hand he would have went turn 1 ponder to find one more mana and turn 2 kill depending on whether he drew another mana source or not but leading with duress is the right move against an unknown deck. But oh well what happened, happened and you can't change it.
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
Played TES (Replaced the meltdown for a CoV) at Vestal today winning the first two rounds, then losing the next 3. Beat RW metalcraft (Yeah, i don't know either, welcome to legacy), then Cook himself with merfolk (Who also plays that deck brilliantly, 3 very close games).
Losses then to NO RUG (Geoff Smelski) when an Ad naus gives no way to play around MMS and Bolt, Bloodbraid RUG which I should of crushed, then Team America of the back of smother on my swarm in addition to 3 missteps, 2 wastes, a force and a hymn over my 3 attempts to beat a swinging goyf.
The swarms were meh main for me, I did only faced folk once, and although it was everywhere, there is a lot of stuff that missing duress and a silence is brutal. I don't like searching for protection, only to hit it and hope it survives long enough to help me out, especially preboard when opponents almost always have the removal. Has anyone else had similar experiences with swarm main?
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
I ended up top 8'ing the invitational this weekend with T.E.S, then top 16 the second event with Merfolk. Report to come at some point.

Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
Glad to see you posting more.
Did a good amount of testing yesterday. won more than i lost against fish.
trying to learn to run numbers in my head faster for given situations so im not showing that im almost capable of going off. fun stuff.

I find it easiest to count backwards to a predetermined state that is a guaranteed win (unhindered). To make Tendrils your 10th spell for IGG loop that means IT/BW have to be the 5th spell in your chain with B/B1/R1 floating (after casting IGG). The required mana depends on the situation and spells in the graveyard obviously. That way you don't have to "finish" the combo in your head.
[6 = IGG; 7 and 8 come from your graveyard and then you tutor (9) for Tendrils (10)]
That's one of the easier predefined wins. Ad Nauseam is a bit more random, but I've seen win percentages posted if you cast AN at X life with X floating in the thread somewhere.

Sorry if my questions were a bit newbish.
I'm going to answer this in the correct place.
The Infernal in the side gives us a 10% less chance to draw it in game 1. Game 1 is when you want to be broken, but the Infernal often comes out games 2 and 3.
Deathmark and Eye of Nowhere used to be used, but no one ever actually cast Eye of Nowhere, and Deathmark is just worse than Grapeshot.
The Tundra thing has been tried by others, but it is absolutely horrible to naturally draw a Tundra. Plus getting W is not hard.

Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
Played today a 6 round champ with TES.
I got 3-3.
2-0 GW Taxes
2-0 GW Order
0-2 Spiral Tide(candelabra)(very fast hands and multiples MM + Pact for my chant).
0-2 BGW ( with seize, inquisition, hymn AND Mental Misstep pos-SB).
2-1 BGW (with normal hate, like bears, tutor , EE , halo).
0-2 UG Infect( killed me twice at T3 over my duress/chant, he also have Mental Missteps).
If BGW begin to use Mental Missteps our life will be alot worse.. this make me sad.

It's 6 rounds actually. ETW in the maindeck isnt that good ATM. A second Nausem seems to be way better, at least for our local metagame.
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
I realized today that sometime over the past few months I stopped feeling bad about storming people out.
(cool story bro)
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
Local tourney today, went 4-0 (18-20 ppl)
I ran Bryant's list switching the xantids for a silence and the 4th duress.
My SB was:
1 Tendrils
1 IGG
1 ETW
1 Dim Returns
1 Grapeshot
1 Meltdown
1 Shattering Spree
1 Echoing Truth
1 Wipeaway
1 Hurkyl's Recall
2 Pyroblast
3 Xantid Swarm
Round 1: (teammate playing the kobold/beastmasters ascension deckl)
Won 2-0, Empty turn 2 in the first game when he is drawing no business and Tendrils in the second on turn 2
Round 2: (Elves)
Won 2-0, Tendrils in the first on turn 3 and in games 2 I mull to five, he plays turn two thorn of amythest, starts comboing on turn 3 and he fails to pay his pact on turn 4 with lethal on board(!!!)
Round 3: (teammate with W/G Cloudpost)
Won 2-0, Turn 1 ad nauseam in the first, and turn 1 empty for 16 guys in the second
Round 4: (Zoo)
Won 2-1, Turn 2 combo in the first, second game he gets double nacatl and canonist, Third i get him with 12 guys on turn 1
Overall it was a good time, deck performed flawlessly.
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
Contrats on the 11th place finish Mr. Cook
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
We are all waiting for the report Mr. Cook! Congrats!
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
Hi,
I know, it is stupid question for some, but how do I use the Pyroblasts in SB? I see them being sideboarded in a lot of matchups. Should I be proactive with them, reactive, Im kinda lost here, pls help.
Thank you

Pyroblast question
You either use it to protect your key spells (mostly Burning Wish) against countermagic or to disrupt opposing blue spells that you may lose against (e.g. Show and Tell, Breakthrough, 'Folk Lords and such).
That said, there is no general rule for their use, it's depending on the match up and situation.

When counterbalance was popular it was used to destroy or counter that, but now against blue decks it can be used to protect your tutors, but also to protect your chants so you can combo with no worries. A corner case is that you can use it for storm
