Both the CMC and color intensity make it seem like an awkward, ham-handed option. I can't see it having much of an advantage over chant/silence.
i used this deck last night in a
legacy tourney wherein 60+ participants joined.
this was the list that i used
4 gemstone mine
2 city of brass
1 volcanic island
2 underground sea
2 polluted delta
2 bloodstained mire
4 LED
4 chrome mox
4 lotus petal
2 xantid swarm
4 dark ritual
4 brainstorm
3 orim's chant
1 ad naus
4 ponder
4 infernal tutor
4 burning wish
3 duress
4 rite of flame
1 tendrils of agony
1 empty the warrens
SB
4 dark confidant
1 tendrils of agony
1 empty the warrens
1 ill gotten gains
1 shattering spree
3 pyroblast
2 chain of vapor
1 echoing truth
1 pyroclasm
here's what i can remember:
1RD sui 2-1
was able to go off on turn one during our G3 via IGG loop. sweet
2RD bwg rock 2-0
G1 i knew what he had, so i went off T1 without any hesitation. ad naus ftw.
G2 it took me 3turns before i went off
3RD gobs 0-2
drew sh!t. lost
4RD RG
again, i knew what he had, so i went off on my T3 and T2
5RD merfolk 1-1
an EPIC game two. i was down to six life pts, facing a battalion of merfolks, plus tons of counterspells at hand, i took what was i thought was an impossible task, and magically, things went my way. hard cast ad naus down to six revealing u.sea, lotus petal, infernal tutor, brainstorm, duress, and LED. wow.. priceless experience. the game ended in a draw sad to say :)
6RD team america 2-0
went off on turn 2 and turn 3 respectively
after the swiss, i placed 9th losing by a mere .04 pts *sigh*
had a great time using this deck. :) til next time..
During this week, I'm going to be rewriting, organizing, and updating some of the content on the home page. Look forward to it.
I was also curious, would people prefer a new thread or would you rather continue the discussion in this one? It's something I'd have to talk to an Admin about.
Continue in this topic because it's a great work in the home page.
Thanks from all community
The only reason I would say to start a new thread is because I believe that fewer pages might make people actually read the primer and subsequent discussion instead of jumping to the last page to ask a question that was already answered ten pages ago.
Then again, the primer plus the additional reading is so long and detailed that it might not even matter and people will still end up asking questions that have already been asked and answered.
By the way: After reading the report, I have to say that I had no idea this deck had the ability to kill so frequently with Grapeshot. That alone makes me want to drop every other Storm deck and try this one out.
First...thanks for the report! Nice one! And good lesson for the dredge player!! lolol
Second, I think this thread is a little tainted because of the period wich it was in the DTB forum.
Creating a new one, I believe , the new will be "cleaner".
This is, maybe , the 3th or 4th TES thread, and always been better when it was in the ED forum.
Just my opinion..
The opening posts have been updated and re-organized with new...
a.) Content
b.) Decklist
c.) Card choices
d.) Sample Hands/Sample Hands for you
e.) Match-ups
f.) Links (Reports are now organized by date, you have no idea how much of a pain this was.)
You're welcome.
Great work!!!Congrats!
congrats bryant on each of your finish!
good job!
i'd like to play against you,
do you have an account with cockatrice?
i'll be on line this weekend.
:)
Bryant,
FYI you didn't place your Jupiter Report in the links in the first page. Just letting you know
Thanks! You are always kind and inspiring for us all...
Even across the Ocean :)
Just top8ed a 64 people tournament with TES(3 city/3fetch , 4duress ,3/1 chant split with 1 pyro and 3 xantid SB).
Played against:
r1:Merfolks 2-0(xantid got it in game2)
r2:Zenith Bant 2-0(lucky adn with 6 life + BS that drew LED at game1).
r3:NO RUG 0-2(got very unlucky here at both games(g1 could not draw a mana source in 5 turns and g2 did not find a tutor with 4 cantrips and died to exalted dryad arbor, it should have been a cake walk).
r4:NO RUG 2-0
r5:Death and Taxes 2-0 (Sorry Coreia.. Fuzzy trolled me, I should have conceded to you ).
r6:Tezz Affinity 2-1(game1 he killed me very fast and my ponder + BS sucked, game2 I got 16 goblins at turn1 on play and game3 he mulled to 4 looking for something after 2 turns I duress him and take Mindbreak Trap then tutor chain for the win).
So I got in 3° with 5-1 (10-3) , faced 4 blue decks but 2 "byes".
I was not allowed to play the top8 but I would face a GW Taxes and the winner of Ubg Landstill vs Bant(from round2).
PS: I tested against UW Stoneblade on the day before and got 7-3 pre-SB and 3-0 pos-SB.
I posted a more detailed report at a brazilian magic webpage and got the following feedback from one friend and combo player.
"Would you play with a single Doomsday at SB?? So you can make this pile [BS/Ponder, LED, LED , Ponder, Wish ] because sometimes you don't have enought life for Adn and they have too much counters at graveyard to play Iggy." - Potira
So I'm thinking about it and will keep it in my mind during my future tests but I would like to know if someone tested this ideia and what were your conclusions.
Thx in advance.
