Shut down opponent lifegain is a primary task, Vortex should be sided in.

I'm playing UR Delver in modern and rencently bought into legacy. The only cards missing are the duals, but with the recent price spike they are currently unaffordable. I will buy them as soon as the price drops again.
I would like to play the burn heavy approach, similar to my modern deck:

I know the Landbase is very bad but as i said i'm working on it.
Would like to ask how effective TNN is in those current lists?
I'm not sure if SCM is better than YP in Legacy, what are your experiences?

Stormchaser build has a all-in strategy which could be summarized as "UR burn", while YP build is "UR delver tempo".Quote:

Before going any further, I replied to the question "what to side vs DnT with this deck?". In a different context, like 'knowing there are a lot of DnT in that meta', I would for instance suggest alternative solutions >>> Sulfur Elemental.
Surgical is a bad todeck in late game, yes. But prior to think about extracting a countered or smashed Vial, I would extract a freakin Swords to Plowshare. I mean, either this is just too obvious for you to mention or sthg did not tilt up there. StP is the only thing you really care about removing for good. Without it, they cannot deal with your creatures. So just for this reason, SE is not the bad card you think it is.
Extracting Wasteland might be a fringe play but since it will still trigger Prowess, why not.
Extracting a Thalia can also give you more freedom. Once you burnt the first one and extracted it, you know that you basically won't be bothered by it and/or have to dedicate more bolts to deal with the other copies which inevitably will come pester you.
S.Vortex > very good option but Rishadan Port is a pain and often prevents you from casting it by blocking your resources (add to it the Thalia issue mentioned above...)

The best option is still just not to play Surgical Extraction. DnT has plenty of creatures that can trade with U/R Delver creatures, Jitte, etc. so even though StP is one of the better options, it's not even that relevant. Similar to Vial, you *want* them topdecking late game Wastelands, this is a deck that can easily play around Wasteland.Quote:

Beat RW Painter, DnT, Grixis Delver, Esper Control, lost to UR Landstill and in Top 8 lost to UWR Delver.
Highlights:
- Was flooded quite a bit and thinking about shaving down to 17 lands.
- Blood moon is great but not that amazing against Grixis Delver as Young Pyromancer, Bolt, and Red Blast can still be played.
- Price of progress and Stormchaser Mage won so many games.
- Not sure about the Eidolon in the side as combo is always absent from my meta.
- Not so sure about 2 Grim Lavamancer as they underperformed. I always had the burn spells to kill creatures anyways.
- Really thinking about adding a True Name in the 75 for late game since with my two losses, all my creatures died and I couldn't really commit to a threat.
Good showing! I agree with your lavamancer assessment. I almost always want them out of the board. if you cut them I would want to increase either the PoP or Ponder count. I love ponder in this deck though.Quote:

I agree as well. 3 Volcs is the way to go so we don't get so exposed to wasteland. I'd def replace the grims with another ponder and PoP. More ammo for the stormchasers :).

Thanks. I won't cut lavamancers completely. I'll be testing with just 1 maindeck as I feel sometimes I'm desperately digging for threats and it gives me added insurance against creature heavy decks. I'm also going to try one TNN. I would cut a volc. However I find that sometimes fetching basics early kinda manascrews me though...Quote:

My likely next change will probably be -1 forked bolt, + 1 PoP but we'll see. I just like having a ton of burn spells for the must-kill creatures such as deathrite, stoneforge, mom, etc.

I left UR Delver aside for a while now as I am testing other decks but with some major upcoming events in Europe (GPs, MKM Series and BoM) I will most certainly go back to it.
Here's my question:
So far, how did Stormchaser perform overall? Mind, I am not asking for your performance and feeling on a FNM-like/3 rounds tournament (no offence there at all) but rather on large tournament (50+ players, 6-7 rounds).
Is it really a card worth playing it over Snapcaster / TNN / YPyro / you-name-it? If yes, why?
Thing in the Ice will be tournament legal as well so this might also be an option worth considering actually.

Basically there are so many decks in the format and the meta is so different from region to region that its up to you. There's a big pile of counterburn cards to choose from, do what feels right for you.

Personally (here's my anecdotal experience, close your eyes if you don't want to hear opinions) I've only really got results with the Stormchaser Burn build but I think that's due to lack of practice with the grindier build, which I think has a higher power level, I'd like to get more practice and take a grindy UR Build to the GP, hopefully with standstills included.
What do you guys think of a couple Fireblast in the prowess build? Winning turn 3 has happened a couple times and I just put this together a week ago. I'll share my decklist later, I'm tired.
