Awesome job Matt. Beautiful collection of Beta Duals ;)
Hey Matt,
Nice job - glad to see how it's coming along after following your quest
A side note...
After seeing your cards and reading your grading of them (which is probably accurate considering your activity in the MOTL/MtG market) I have a better idea why I'm always so upset when I buy cards. I think I'm only happy if they came from the latest expansion - everything else seems way too "beat up" to me; perhaps I am too fussy these days (lol).
Take it easy,
Jared
PS - go ahead and crack... anything less than a 9 should be free and sleeved for all to see!!!
Yeah they exist, if you are talking about green textbox borders. You can see an example here:
http://www.magiclibrarities.net/718-...k--border.html
There are definitely more than 5 of those, as they aren't any rarer than the ones with other textbox colours. You can take that from someone who would profit from these being that rare.
@Sdematt: Nice duals, and the Scrubland you mentioned seemed worthwhile to me. In any case, I never sweat small margins on cards if the alternative means a lot more hassle and inconvenience.
Wow, these last two pages are mind-blowing. Impressive stuff, both Occam and sdematt. :)
(good thing I posted my goblin deck before they posted their collections)
Regarding Occam's Splendid Genesis / Fraternal Exaltation posted earlier... How much are these valued at, roughly? I've always wondered that!
Recruiters aren't worth more than beta duals btw
I play with all my beta duals, but most I've had forever (bought at around $60 or so) so they have had some serious loving over the years. I only have one beta dual ( an Underground) that would be worthy of getting graded so I don't play with that one. It's pretty flawless so I would feel bad to nick it. A 7.5, I'd probably crack and use. I never liked having cards that sit and collect dust, though I have a couple that are just too pretty (and costly) to play with. I keep a Amithelaw, set of Beta, Arabian, p3k, Antiquities, and a few older packs in cases, but that's it. The rest get used or sold. Oh yes, I use those Summer islands I have.
And thanks for the explanation on that Serindib. I was wondering what it was from. Is it worth anything or common among Italian stuff (as common as any other rare anyway).
Received the Beta Taiga and Bayou in the mail. So pimp :)
Sets completed: Bayou and Scrubland

 Very nice Beta duals! I can barely afford the FBBs!, I can only imagine the value of all those Betas!
So far, 0/4 on Undergrounds. I have access to about 9-10 of them (either on Ebay or through people I know already), but I'm on a limited income at the moment. I think I'll try and pick up more shifts so I can finish at least the non-blues by the summer.
Also, I'm almost finished closing a deal for an Alpha Scrubland. Now I'll have five! This almost feels like a shoe-obsession with women, and it's quite relative. A Beta dual is about the price of a nice pair of shoes. I guess now I can't be the one to argue that she's throwing her money away. Pot, meet kettle. Kettle, pot. :(

It doesn't help if I have to sleep on the couch. I know they do, she doesn't :P

What's that card between the Ancient Tombs in the bottom picture?
Foil japanese rhox altered into some kind of godzilla. With a BIC pen and a strong seller-tape.
really like the Storm but there is still some work to do ;)
nice cards :)
i would like to see a close up on the Sharpshooter.. :)
Nice Storm pimp... but the Tropical Island looks super-duper-out-of-place on it. I've also never seen a list with City of Traitors, that's kind of cool.
I'd go for Korean Petals, they always seemed more pimp to me. But Japanese foil Tendrils, very well done sir.
Until reading this thread, I had no idea that German cards were considered "pimp". I always thought they were awful and preferred English. Same with Russian. Asian is just overdone. But next time I go on a one-day trip to Germany, I think I'll pick up some cards and sell them at inflated prices to Americans, yes?
No, but I find it hilarious that here, in Europe, the most pimped languages are Asian, followed by plain English. Guess the others are much more available here.
Russian is my favorite. Not only do I like the Cyrillic print, It's one of the few languages I can still read. We could make some serious money if you want to send me boxes of Russian packs.
Would that work for Japanese cards as well? I know a couple of people that constantly travel back and forth from Hawaii to Japan and back. Unfortunately, they know nothing about MTG, and gave me weird looks when I told them to get me foil Jaces and Tarmogoyfs. Lol, I figure though, you can get Japanese cards in Japan for normal prices, rather than the crazy prices on Ebay?
Anyway, here is a couple random pics. (sorry not necessarily Legacy though)

well i guess that the english cards are pimp in the Asian contrys?
German are easier to get, but I know a guy who can surely get ahold of whatever you need. I know he works with a guy in China, trading the Chinese guy's cards for his own English. So he could, without a doubt, do the same with Russian stuff. He's a dealer, but actually not an asshole. And although he probably already knows, I'll be sure to mention the American interest in Russian cards to him.
But German ones I can quite easily get. I live in Denmark, so it's an hour drive to there.
That Yawgmoth's Bargain Japanese Foil is so over the top nice :)
I recall reading on MOTL that Japanese cards really aren't much cheaper in Japan. Their MSRP and singles are more expensive, and they caught on to the fact that many out of country folks were buying them and selling them at a huge profit. According to one of the more well-known Americans selling in Japan, the lucrative gains ended many years ago.
Also, foils are less "scarce" with the newer sets so unless the foil is based on the old shooting star foiling method I tend to stay away from it.
Of course, this is just what I read, so take that with a grain of salt. When I go to Japan next time, I'll get to see for myself.
Together at last.

Those are pretty awesome, are the cards miscut or is just the front not set right (basically are the backs miscut)?
Tezzeret the Seeker's back is normal, but Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas is miscut front and back.
Yup, here is my white stax :
SB not finished yet.
