Please read the Site Rules before posting again. This post is an eyesore on so many levels.
Game 2: "You only live once, I'll keep" lul
Good call.
Beyond that, the Announcers mis-used Ad Nauseum, kinda funny.
I had a video feature match when I T8ed last year. Not sure where the video is though.
It's amazing how many small interactions happen that many of us let go unrecognized. Including myself, I've played T.E.S the last 6 or so years and recently learned something I've never even thought of. I was reading a German or French report (<3 google translator), where a guy was in a tough situation, low on life and his only out was Ad Nauseam. His hand was Rite, Ritual, Chrome, Ad Nauseam, Lion's Eye Diamond. He cast Rite of Flame, Dark Ritual, Lion's Eye Diamond, Chrome Mox, in response to the imprint trigger, Ad Nauseam, response, crack Lion's Eye Diamond. Let Nauseam resolve, imprint/brilliant.
This play has never once occurred to me and I'm dying to do it! It's a very situational event, however, the play has just never run across my mind. I figured I'd let it soak into everyone's brain too.
that's a really sweet play and I wish I had thought of it.
A really brilliant play.. I can remember 3 or 4 times where I could have done this line of play but never thought it and just played the mox for storm..that's what I like in storm decks you can always play better or figure out insane lines of play.
Thx for bringing it to us Bryant and props to this guy , Bryant could you post this report plz?
I've seen the ad nauseam in response to the mox imprint, but with led is something new.
In the mental misstep infested metagame that we live in, and this is a question for all.... Have you noticed that a misstep player will basically misstep the first spell they see that costs 1, regardless of what it is?
Also, with merfolk slightly falling out of popularity (with the rise in zoo players) would it be safe to hide the Xantid Swarms back in the board to make swords(spot removal etc.) dead in G1? I came across a situation against NO RUG in Cincinnatti where he eot bolts my xantid then missteps me next turn, allowing him to set up more.... it was rather annoying.
You've never seen anyone crack LED in response to Ad Nauseam, but you've seen Ad Nauseam in response to imprint?? that's weird........
Misstep >> yep, so it gets pretty predictable. I think that's why it is a good idea to thought seize before duressing, so you don't lose the life.. LOL
Xantid Swarm >> yeah, I'm really getting annoyed with people answering my swarms with plows, but I guess another argument could be they have to keep/hold plow now or die... I guess bolt is worse though..
I've Ad Nauseamed in response to Mox in goldfishing, never in a tournament. It is one of my dreams. Considering I have Armageddoned someone and milled someone else with this deck, the least I could do is stack a Mox imprint.
I know we don't play Cabal Ritual, but there was a sweet play I thought before a tournment and the it actualy came up.
It basically involves having 4 mana in the pool, LED in play, Infernal Tutor and Cabal Ritual in hand, and 6 cards in the graveyard. You cast the Infernal, in response cast the Cabal Ritual and in response crack the LED. That makes you reach ********, Cabal adds 5. Somewhat simple play, but it could go unnoticed very easily.
There's many fun interactions like that in stormcombo that you don't know when you start with the deck. Playing on MTGO makes you see these opportunities easier.
I've casted AdN in resp to the imprint trigger. I've casted Infernal Tutor, resp Cabal Ritual, resp crack LED to get threshold for the Cabal. I've brainstormed the win on top and then cantripped into it cracking LEDs etc.
Edit: Someone ninja'd about the cabal play :p
There's no need to cast Nauseam in response to the Imprint trigger if there isn't an LED, you simply can just hold the mox. As for the Cabal trick, I think that's fairly common.
For the Xantids, they'll be staying in my build because they've been amazing for me. I don't see Merfolk dying down at all, it's still putting up numbers.
I've used that chrome mox, LED trick a couple times in testing, but I don't think it's come up in a tournament. It's pretty useful for pushing your Ad Nauseam through a spell pierce/cursecatcher.
They took out part of their clock for those dismembers. I'm fine with that.
