I'd probably use Feldon in my Mono-R build which runs 3 goblin welders.
I'm using testing R/W for now trying to figure out of the white splash is worth it. I mainly did it for burn hate.

Play more spellskite... that card is quite good against burn. It blocks and let's you push for the kill without blast or mana up.
I think he plays a decklist with 4 Pyroblast, 4 REB, 4 Active Volcano, 4 Lightning Bolt, without the cards he said, and without Blood Moons.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH :D :D :D
I also think this is likely very good. Want to test it for sure.
It competes for the MD Slot my singleton Chandra takes up now. And another thing the opponent has to pithing needle. Promising card.
The synergy with welder is there. +2 discard your grindstone draw cards and weld back in, same for top.
That being said he does not do what chandra and more importantly Koth do, which is kill your opponent. Daretti does more of what we already do, not 100% if that's a good thing or bad thing.
I would think redundancy in a combo is good. Space is tight in the deck so it's worth a shot.
Kap'n mentioned an interesting card earlier: Assemble the Legion. This was a card for me in standard that served as an alternate win con. But is it worth cutting a Koth in for? Assemble the Legion has that impending doom effect there but it is 5CMC. Terminus/Supreme Verdict delays the win. UWR can only counter it or use Wear//Tear vs it, unless they also pack disenchants.
The pros are that it is searchable with a tutor and is pretty hard to counterbalance. The tokens also attack under a bridge which can't be said for Koth 4/4s. The cons is that it doesn't do anything the turn it comes into play the way Koth does, it costs 1 more and it dies to enchantment removal (minus abrupt decay) which a lot of people will bring in for us anyway. I think it's really only good against the Miracles and lands matchup.

My take is that it could be incredible if pushed. Don't look at new cards just to fill existing slots in your deck. See if it opens up new design opportunities and think outside the box.
Good ol gems that we've always played around with May become much better.
I'm thinking a Mono Red build with 4 Gamble, 4 welder, x looting and a good number of the planeswalker
All speculation now of course.

I've played a few practice hands with the new planeswalker and in all the games he resolved he blew the doors off the place. I'll do more testing but I think I like him more then Chandra.
I know Daretti is not card advantage, but neither is Brainstorm. Also with Chandra you can flip a Pyroblast off the top and just lose it. I feel like having better card selection and a weld ability makes him pretty sweet. Also can start off with 5 loyalty which is a nice place to be.
From the look of the card, the opponent killing one of your artifacts doesn't make his -2 fizzle, you can just sacrifice a different artifact once it resolves. However, it looks like you cannot weld back in the card you sacrifice (Eg. you have a Lotus Petal and a Painter on the board, if you have to pop the Petal before resolution you have to sacrifice the Painter, since it isn't a "May" ability.)
With so many people adding cruise plus dig through time now, what do you think of changing the canonist I the sideboard to spirit of the labyrinth instead? I mean it screws with any deck with brainstorm, ponder and dig, cruise, jace etc etc. if they bolt or sword it, all the better one last for our welder or painter. I am even incline to see if we can move to a whiter painter as this is tutorable. recruiter can search this unfortunately.
Two things about our new homie. I think many people will make the switch back to mono-red by cutting tutors and adding daretti, which gives you a stable manabase and allows you to play more great furnaces. That's probably a pretty good path to take, but in my opinion, I think daretti makes shortcake even better now. Few changes here and there but here is what I'll be initially trying. (Completely untested btw)
7 sol
5 fetch
2 plateau
4 mountain
1 furnace
4 rec
4 painter
3 welder
2 simian
1 jaya
1 magus
1 revoker
4 stone
3 petal
2 top
2 bridge
1 explosives/ratchet
4 moon
4 pyro
2 reb
2 tutor
1 daretti
Side
4 firebolt
1 rip
2 crypt (yea so much for helm. Maybe even a single macabre or try helm later)
1 thorn
1 3sphere
1 canonist
1 legion
1 daretti
1 reb
1 vandal
1 bridge
First important note is the artifact count in the main is unchanged at 18. Put in the third petal for reanimation and ee purposes.
Also, daretti could completely change parts of the deck we don't even know yet. Maybe add an artifact reanimator target for example. Either way, this is where I'm leaning since daretti will let us power through our deck like none other and provide the discard outlet shortcake and it's welders have been lacking.
It did give me a hairbrained idea to use Sundering Titan and just recurr the LD ability with Welder and daretti. I would imagine that Wurmcoil would be the better choice in the end.
I'm still having a tough time with the burn matchup. I chose R/W because I thought it be the better of the two versions to deal with that deck (my meta is filled with it). I tried using 4x Leyline of Sanctity but Burn has been increasing the amount of creatures lowering the power of the leylines. Kor Firewalker was another idea I had since it was recruitable but then I saw it costed WW which is difficult since I run only 1 plains and many other shortcake lists don't even run one. So I'm down to CoP: Red and Dragon Claw. If I cut the Leylines I can put back firebolts in or try out Sudden Shock. What would be the best path?
