Can't wait to read it!
Congrats on the finish!

I got tired of waiting (and nobody replied to my emails/nobody's posted content in a week) so I put it on my own blog in the meantime.

Congrats for the finish , Nice report
Nice job dude! I absolutely love how salty some opponents act after losing to this deck. Truly, I take a lot of joy in it.
And I know we get the "there's no play to the deck" argument a lot, but we play Cabal Therapy. That may be one of the most challenging cards in all of legacy. I'm sure correct calls with that won you matches that you wouldn't have won otherwise.
"Lightning Bolt."
"Dammit. This isn't even Magic."
Congratulations. I was literally rooting for you while i was reading about round 9. I'd have hated to lose to someone like him.
Very well done. The list looks a lot like the one I piloted back in 2012.
Also, after checking the coverage archive it looks like your round nine opponent's name was Justin Geary (GearyMTG on Twitter). If I ever play Manaless again, I'll keep the name in mind and put some spice on that shit when I dream-crush him. He also appears to be one of those elitist poker players who never thinks they can lose based on his info, hence the asinine post-match whining on his part.
Well done, Geo. I'm glad you represented the archetype well.
Very nice report! I am that jovial Reanimator player from round 3 =D
When I thoughtseized Griseldaddy game 2, I had all intentions of taking it as my own! That was not to be. I am glad you got your comically bad dredges out of the way against me.
Congrats on the finish, and I look forward to seeing your entire deck in the yard at the invitational.
I love how the deck is still putting up results. Man I never thought I'd love Manaless as much as I do.
Funny game on MTGO (vs Oops! All Spells):
Knowing I'm playing Manaless my opponent targets me with his Balustrade Spy trigger, but I play Dryad Arbor MB, so I promptly win after that. :D
Congrats on the finish! I love this deck and I would play it much more if it weren't for my group of friends strong dislike for it. I keep thinking about putting it together on MTGO but I never pull the trigger.
Again, it is always nice to see manaless make the top-8. However, SCG seems to rarely show those matchups (or even any manaless matches throughout the day). Congrats and keep it up!
Started off 3-1 in providence this past weekend with manaless. Losses were to maverickx2, elves and shardless bug. Beat miracles, burn, shardless bug and rug. Definitely made some errors like pitching gorian when game two I saw relic as their hate (this was mid-game and the graveyard was full and used gorians discard ability). Not naming kotr with therapy knowing they were on the bojuka bog plan was fairly poor as well. Dropped after eight rounds of magic feeling pretty good and more confident with the deck. Positives of the day were beating miracles after a blind therapy hitting force and as always the despair on peoples faces when being put on the play. One more thing...I play the spy version with chancellor main, what about siding chancellor out game two for four unmask? The gig is up and the deck is recieving, in my opinion, some unwanted attention. Never game two was I able to draw, against non-blue decks an on the play unmask me might be pretty sweet? Thoughts? I just really want an excuse to play unmask, not sure if its worth it though, chancellor is pretty awesome.
Unmask is definitely cool, but i'd be very careful with that t1 line of play. Getting it forced is pretty much game over. I've always liked Unmask,i even played it maindeck when i was using griselbrand. It's better than chancellor in non-drs/non- black based matchups, so the switch between them in post board games makes sense.
To be honest i'm glad the deck is receiving attention. When i win due to my opponent playing bad i feel kinda sad. Sometimes i think i might not have won against a competent player. But when i win versus good players, the deck is quite satisfying. Even if it's not hard to play, there are those key decisions that completely change the outcome of the game.
Does anyone think that the M15 card Stain the Mind is viable as a 5th Surgical Extraction? My first thought is that it isn't viable, but when a new set comes out I can't help but look for new tech.
How do you propose we pay the black mana in it's manacost? Convoke doesn't help you there.
It actually helps. But i don't think we need stain the mind. It's probably too slow.
I read over the "or by one mana of that creature's color"-clause. I stand corrected!
I agree with the comment of it being too slow. At the point where you could cast it (even on Arbor plan with another 4 creatures out) you *should* be in a strong enough position to have gone off and potentially won. It is also a Sorcery and thus does not have nearly enough flexability as Extraction.
Nice to see some discussion reboot though.
You're both right, it's simply too slow to be effective. I can see the card being used as precaution before triggering the combo for the win, but it probably isn't beneficial enough to take up space in the deck. Nevertheless, I am sure Wizards will accidentally print something useful for us in the distant future...
Any of you have tried the Saffi Eriksdotter & Crypt Champion combo?
I read about it for traditional combo-dredge, so I gave it a go this wknd at the local in LED-dredge, but it could work here too.
Since it doesn't require any mana to fire off an infinite combo for a million-ish zombies, I thought a singleton of each of these and a Flame-kin Zealot could be comical.
