As much as I really like the design of Vexing Devil (especially for Burn), I agree that such a narrowly-useful card shouldn't be as heavily-priced as it is right now. This card is being over-hyped as we speak. Having said that, the retailers aren't the only ones to blame, as the players are largely responsible for the hype that goes around.Quote:

I'm as open minded to exploring new cards as anyone, but this thing has no chance in Burn. Even if he was good, or even great, how is burn going to protect a Planewalker that comes into play with 2 counters? Are we going to keep creatures back to protect it? I'm sure someone can find a use for it somewhere but its not going to be in Burn. The very nature of Planeswalker leads me to think there will never be one printed that is worth putting in Burn.
Ignoring all other possible issues, it's just too expensive. I would need 3 mana to make it into a counterable Volcanic, 4 to make it into a Flamebreak.Quote:

Yeah... and the worse part about it is that you have to have the mana to pay the Miracle cost, and also draw into the Miracle at exactly the right time to make sense of the card. Hey Roguebuild: just saw this posted on the Avacyn Restored card dicussion thread, may be relevant to you. I thought I saw that you were running Earthquake. If instead you were to run Rolling Earthquake it would be strictly better. Same casting cost but it hits flying creatures as well.
Standard players will realize soon , that the devil isnt for T2 competitive , the players will take 100% of the time 4 damage , and they dont have the reach of our spells like pop,fire blast , ok they dont even have lighting bolt...they only have shock and incinerate... so for me the devil is an eternal card not t2 playable..
I'm not actively aware of the Standard meta game, but this is also my expectation - unless something else gets printed in the yet unspoiled cards from Avacyn, which, in fact, would be more good news for us.Quote:

But seriously, it's important to us that we're inclusive. The decks in the DTB forum are performing consistently somewhere. It might just not be North America. The alternative would be to have separate DTB forums for different geographic locations, but I suspect that could become incredibly cumbersome to maintain and confusing to navigate.
For example, if RUG Tempo is doing well in both America and Europe, do we have two separate threads for it in each DTB forum? That obviously doesn't make sense.
In any case, be aware that the mod staff is aware of your point and are not deaf to it. We'll discuss it and and see what we think.
I don't want to derail this thread any further. If anyone wants to respond to continue this discussion, they can start a thread for it in the Community Forum or PM a mod about it. Thanks.

Burn is a great deck.
I cant say this deck is bad because i went Top 8 Yesterday on a 128player Turnament.
But there is something bothering me. The Top 8 has to play against each other again after the Tournament is over. So i had to play vs the best of the best.
Problem is they dont make that many mistakes and the less mistakes people do the less effective is Burn. I got a good matchup in my first and only game vs Maverick but he just outplayed my deck.
Maybe iam just not good enought but i think Burn doesent have the consistency like other Top decks have and you end up never ever getting top 3 with it.
If you look at recend tournaments its more likely for Burn getting Top 8 - Top 16 then top4.
In my opinion for a Deck beeing DTB you should always have a good chance to play top 4 with it and not only "lucking" into top 16 to top8
