Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combo
hi every body. I recently bought my LED playset and would like to start playing this deck.
Does anyone has a complete guide of how to play the deck and the game plan and sideboarding with each matchup?
I read some pages of the thread, but didn't find anything.
thanks

Erm ... I guess it's a start to read the opening post and watch some videos with people playing the deck. Your request is kinda disturbing as it implies you didn't even read what the Storm-Mechanic actually does or you would notice that "casting 9 spells + Tendrils" is the gameplan

Congratulations on your LEDs. I don't know that there is a "complete guide" out there as Legacy is a big ass format and we are talking enough material for a book if you want detailed sideboarding strategies etc for each matchup.
With that said, Carsten Kotter has written several excellent articles on Starcitygames.com (Google will help you there). You are also welcome to check out my videos on youtube. I have a deck tech that might be helpful for you and also some videos of me playing the deck vs different legacy decks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC96...nf46NtQ/videos

Awesome finish, nice report! I'd love to see those feature matches when you find the links.
How was Empty for you all day? I've been unimpressed every time I've had it in my deck, but maybe you're using it differently?
The other things I'm surprised at are no Tops in the sideboard and no second Tendrils in a deck with 2 Past in Flames. I've liked having access to two Tendrils against Miracles and Deathrite decks. Did you consider these cards and if so what was your analysis?
Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combo
Thanks guys,
I would definately do some changes after the Grand Prix.
Empty the Warren was one of the wasted sideboard slots,I did not even use it more than once. The problem with Empty the Warrens is though that you kill your opponent 2 turns after you cast it. So even if you get 10+ Goblins on turn one or two you actually kill on turn 3-4 with the risk to get your dudes wrecked by engineered explosives or other massremoval spells.
Speaking of wasted sideboard cards, Death and Taxes was completely absent in Kyoto (and in Tokyo in general) so Dread of Night gets also cut for the next events.
In general I'm not the biggest fan of multiple Tendrils of Agony in the deck but I prefer to have more flexible cards. This means cantrips and the addtitional Past in Flames which has been a superstar during the weekend. Same for Rain of Filth.
Right now I try to fit Sensei's Divining Tops in the Sideboard to have extra digging tools against miracle control even if they have counterbalance on board.

Great report, congratulations again. With the impact of GP Kyoto, I think my meta may dramatically change. Now I am seriously considering cut grim tutor for another past in flame.
Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combo
As i said before Etw main or not at all, why not SDT main? It always looked like a wasted slot to me and you're gonna replace preordains anyway

Just run both... My 2 pif started as compesation for 2nd grim back in post gp amsterdam whatever year that was, additional tutor comes handy

I feel like I read this every time someone places well with the deck. I look forward to reading it again next time.

So cut Ad Nauseam? I assume if my meta is full of grixis delver, AN may be sided out quite often. I need time to test anyway.
Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combo
Hey guys, I'm currently working on my write-up on the card choices for this deck. I'm unsure whether I should tackle specific matchups when talking about certain maindeck cards. Boarding out some copies of Infernal Tutor vs. Miracles comes to mind, for example. What do you think?
Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combos
I got approved leave some hours from the hospital today to play in a tournament nearby. I have some pain and do alot of pain killers so perhaps I should have played something less skill intensive than ANT... anyways:
R1 vs Omnitell
G1 - The coast was clear so I had a natural Tendrils for 10 followed by a PiFT the next turn.
I sided: -1 Top, -1 Preordain, -1 Swamp, +2 Flusterstorm, +1 AD Nauseam (I play 2 Tendrils and 2 PiF MD and 1 AN SB)
G2 - I miscounted and he was +1 life after Tendrils. A couple of turns later he had Omni + Emrakul x 2
I sided: -1 Petal, -1 Therapy, +2 Xantid Swarm (mvp)
G3: Fetch, Duress: he had counters, Brainstorm, Mountain and Petal. I took Brainstorm and then played my own Petal, sac, Therapied his Petal. He never recovered and PiFT got me there.
R2 vs UR Delver/Burn
G1 - Turn 2 PifT
G2 - The red Mentor got me down to 5 life (with 2 duals in play and she had PoP in hand), anyways. PiFT in the right moment.
R3 vs Miracles (Pascals friend who t8 Vintage in Rome)
G1 - This was very very grindy. But discard was good, so was top. I emptied his hand twice. Bounced a single 4/4 angel (I had one random CoV MD). Then PiFT won the game again (after almost 30 minutes).
There I was 2-0 in matches and 1-0 in R3, but I had to go back to the hospital because of doctor daily visit. A bit sad since I was undefeated and happy with my play (even though a bit reduced). Anyways, always nice playtesting. Next tournament (GPT for Lille I will be better prepared and also with intention to stay the whole tournament.
Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combo
For those more experienced ANT players (or sawatarix), what's the reasoning behind the second PiF in Kai's list? What's the consensus on 2-PiF? It makes ad nauseam much worse, but it's great against Bx strategies and I can sideboard into pseudo grinding station vs miracles.

Past in Flames is ANT's most powerful engine! Having one main means that you need the regular double D.Ritual, LED, Infernal line, whereas with two PiFs your chances to draw one are higher, which on the other hand allow for one Ritual less to combo off. Generally speaking, it is the fattest business spell in this deck that can also be used to chain used cantrips for so-called "value-PiFs".

Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combo
Eh guys
I'm finally back on ANT:)
Back from a Legacy Weekend in Switzerland. Here is a little report.
But first the List of course:
4 Ponder
4 Brainstorm
3 Duress
3 Cabal Therapy
4 Gitaxian Probe
4 Infernal Tutor
2 Past in Flames
4 Lion's Eye Diamond
4 Lotus Petal
4 Dark Ritual
4 Cabal Ritual
2 Preordain
1 Tendrils of Agony
2 Underground Sea
1 Tropical Island
1 Island
1 Swamp
1 Bayou
4 Polluted Delta
4 Misty Rainforest
1 Volcanic Island
1 Rain of Filth
1 Ad Nauseam
SB: 2 Flusterstorm
SB: 4 Abrupt Decay
SB: 3 Dread of Night
SB: 2 Chain of Vapor
SB: 3 Xantid Swarm
SB: 1 Empty the Warrens
It's the same mainboard as Kai Thieles List. The Sideboard its just one more Xantid Swarm.
Before i played empty main and Ad Nauseam Sideboard. But i don't like it. Ad Nauseam is too good.
We should probably play it Mainboard. The other Hard choice was a second PiF or Grim Tutor.
Well bouth are very nice. I liked the second PIF alot but missed also the Grim Tutor.
I will probably Test this list a few more times.
Now to the Tournament:
Saturday in Sion(CH) 52 Players and 6 Rounds
Match 1 Affinity:) Easy Match up 2:1
Game 1: Going into Ad nauseam with 1 blue mana and i black mana floating. and i can still play a land at 18 life.
Don't find any Petals and lands after 20 Cards. So i lost ..
Game 2: Mulligan to 5 but won with Tendrils in hand and Chain of Vapor Tricks.
Game 3. Was a fast Game. easy
Match 2 UWR Controll feat Mishra's Factory 2:0
Game 1: Discard a Counter and going off.
Game 2: Discard Meddling Mage and going off.
Match 3 Rw Painter 2:1
Game 1: I can go off a Turn before he can kill men;)
Game 2: First Turn kill hand but he's playing of course a land and a petal into Cannonist. I don't find any hate fast enough. But this hand i have to kp.
Game 3: I have a slower hand but Decay and Chain. A long Game and i discard him a lot like RIP. He Pyro my Ponders and Brainstorm's. But after a few Turns i can go off with a tricky PiF.
Match 4 UR Delver 2:0
Game 1: He have just a daze and 2 delver that doesn't flip. So i can go off in a AD Nauseam.
Game 2: I discard him a counter and going for the first time with Empty and 16 Tokens. Empty is very strong against UR Delver and RUG Delver.
If you have a Meta like this you should probably play 1 Empy in the Sideboard.
Match 5 and 6
Draw and Draw;)
So Top 8:
Now here start's my route of bad luck:(
Playing again against the Rw Painter Player. 0/2
Game 1: I discard him everything and he had just a welder on the field and 3 lands in the hand. I can probably go off next turn. He draw and play plateau into top deck 1off Ethersworn Cannonist;) GG But it is a very good choice i have to say.
Game 2: Well i know he's playing 1 off Trinisphere 1 off Cannonist and 1of Thorn. So i kp a hand with 2 lands, Therapy, a ponder, a DR, AD nauseam and petal.
So he keept also 7 cards. So i decided to play the Therapy blind. I mean he can probably cast one of his Hate next turn. I named Cannonist because of a Clock and cc 2. But no he have in hand his Thorn and trinisphere. And a Imperial Recruiter.
Well not that a big problem because i had still a lot turns. He playing his Trinisphere T1 and i played land he also and say go and i played finally my ponder. find nothing but have to shuffle. find just a land. After a few turns i can't play my Ad nauseam because i was 8 life and my 2 Brainstorms and 2 Ponder doesn't find anything and just draws into lands-.- Well he beated my down to 0 life. at the end of the game u had all my lands out and 7 fetches in my GY...
So was not happy about that bad luck. but top 8 is ok;) i won a playset Windswept Heat.
Next Day i was going to Zurich (Biggest City in Switzerland but just 3th nicest city's of CH, Bern and Lucerne are my favorites)
So played the same list but i cutted the Empty in the Sideboard for a Sensei's diving Top.
Because in Zurich are a lot Miracles sometimes.
Player are a little bit more than 20. forget to ask... / 5 Rounds and Top 8 of course.
Round 1 against Omnishow: Lost 0:2
Game 1He have everything and a double Counter. I don't find any Discard and draw just a bunch of lands after a shuffled Ponder...
He counter my Threat's 2 times...
Game 2 A big missplay and mindfuck on my part. I wasted my Flusterstorm on a Dig. He can pay it with the City of Traitors. Soo bad.
Deserve the loose. If i didn't do that i would probably have won.
Match 2 against MUD. Harder Matchup but winnable.
Game 1 He starts and take a mulligan to 6. My hand was double fetch, Tutor, Led, petal, BS and a Cabal Rituel. OF course i kp.
He played his T1 chalice of course and so i draw a land and say go. then he cast his Lodestone golem...Next turn i draw a land again. and he played the second Golem and i concede.
Game 2. I kp a hand with Ad nauseam and Decay and a Ponder. I draw after the ponder just lands and he's clock was to fast...
Flooded 3 times in 2 Matches...But yeah happens but shouldn't.
Match 3 against Belcher 2:0
Game 1: He makes 14 tokens. i draw played a cantrip he attacked me and i go off;)
Game 2: He start's and does nothing. I had a island petal into duress. still a fluster storm in hand;) i won.
Match 4 Affinity 2:1
Game 1: I won
Game 2: He beats me
Game 3: I won without problems.
Match 5 2:0 against R/G Lands
Not much to say he have 2 times nothing. ;)
so a solid 3:2 but and a 11th Place..Not my best tournament but anyway a very funny Weekend.
I hope you enjoy my Report.
Just a Question:
Against Mud how and what do you board out on the play and on the draw?
I have always 4 decays and 2 Chain of Vapor to take in.
Thanks!
