Re: Confirmed: Eternal Masters - June 10, 2016
Regarding reprints here, let's not forget that Eternal also means Modern.
You can bet the set will be littered with the likes of Spellskite, Glimmervoid and Oblivion Stone, and uncommons like Ghostly Prison or Remand.
I think the Grove and Canopy reprints are more likely/overdue than Port, although obviously it's a possible target. As someone mentioned earlier, Port has just been reprinted (Judge Foil), so I'm not sure exactly.
Also interesting to note is the fact that lots of the reprinted cards in Modern Masters dipped in the beginning, but gained value back and then some. Look at the price of Blood Moon, Doubling Season, the aforementioned O-Stone and Glimmervoid, etc.
What WILL be interesting though is the price of Legacy staples once we know they're not going to be reprinted. Remember when they annouced they wouldn't be reprinting the Zen fetches in a recent set...
Depite the fact that the cards will be scarce and the packs expensive, I can't be against more supply if it means only a few new players. When you see the price of Modern decks vs Legacy decks, you're not too far off.
I mean, Auriok Champion? Goblin Guide? Many of the cards in Modern command pretty absurd prices.

Modern is not a eternal format. Eternal means all sets are active.

Porsche. I hope for VK 4501 although I doubt it comes in red.

Hey guys!
So, I was wondering... do you think is possible that Wizards could put some previous printed "relics" from Reserved List inside random boosters of Eternal Masters, like they did in the first Zendikar?

Re: Confirmed: Eternal Masters - June 10, 2016
It's possible but I doubt that they will. Among other things, the treasures generated hype to buy a new set. EMA will already be high on hype and won't need any help selling out.

My bad then!

Wasteland was just printed twice in the past two years (2015 Judge Foil and Expedition) and it's back. No reason to discount Port or any other recent special reprint.

But Modern-legal Eternal cards will be in the set (most likely Zen fetches, plenty others).

MMA had plenty of cards which were Modern Legal but not really Modern playable. We can expect the same here. Anything that is legal in Legacy, Vintage, or EDH is potentially fair game.

Hey guess what non-Modern card is currently getting jacked up:
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/price/Wea...Null+Rod#paper
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4x-Null-Rod-...AAAOSwG-1Wy29G
The MACHINE in action, folks. MTG Finance is now a well-oiled monstrosity that can jack up prices fast and hard to see what the market will bear. I doubt people are going to buy in at $80.00, but the price will only drop until someone starts buying again. I suspect there are people that will buy at $20+, so I bet that's where the price will eventually settle.
Boy, remember the days when you could get a newbie friend into Magic playing something other than draft?

There's a reason I invest in arcade sticks nowadays.

Modern Masters (as well as Eternal Masters) were intended as draft formats, which would also introduce new cards. Not to introduce cards and just be able to randomly draft it.

That's a lot of money for something that does nothing.
I think it's a matter of time before the major web sites place more controls in place to prevent massive buyouts. But I'm not holding my breath.

Nah, ain't gonna happen. The machine is in place. I suspect there are now literally hundreds of people who can pull a lever on an algorithm whenever they want to spike a card and see just how higher up it eventually settles. It's not like $100 for a Null Rod is going to stick - savvy sellers on eBay are posting Null Rods at $40.00 today, very few wierdos are actually asking $80 -- but $100 was probably never the goal. If the person pulling the lever can make the card settle at even double the price it was at, there's potentially money to be made. Price inflation is fast. Price deflation is slow.
The machine's job is to find the "correct" price, i.e. "the maximum the market can bear." And it is very, very good at finding it.

Yeah my friend today let me know that Big Game Hunter is suddenly spiking in price allegedly "because Eldrazi." What a joke.

It did some work for Hoogland on camera, though.

Wouldn't all the websites be in favor of buyouts? I've never heard of any reputable retail business that was upset that someone purchased a product from them for the price that the store had set.
