Because you said it's "just a mana dude" and it's not. Exalted is a big deal. Even if it's not good in this deck (or fundamentally shifts it to be Mav or Junk) it's not "just a mana dude"
It's all in the initial post. Just actually read the post next time and there won't be any confusion.

Whatever you say. I have better things to argue over what I already know and what you cant seem to get over

4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Thoughtseize
2 Lingering Souls
1 Council's Judgment
2 Hymn to Tourach
1 Umezawa's Jitte
1 Sword of Fire and Ice
1 Batterskull
2 Liliana of the Veil
4 Marsh Flats
3 Verdant Catacombs
1 Windswept Heath
4 Scrubland
1 Savannah
2 Bayou
3 Wasteland
2 Swamp
1 Plains
SB: 1 Nihil Spellbomb
SB: 1 Tormod's Crypt
SB: 2 Ethersworn Canonist
SB: 1 Manriki-Gusari
SB: 2 Zealous Persecution
SB: 1 Maelstrom Pulse
SB: 1 Hymn to Tourach
SB: 1 Pithing Needle
SB: 1 Containment Priest
SB: 1 Surgical Extraction
SB: 1 Grafdigger's Cage
SB: 1 Choke
SB: 1 Kor Firewalker
Note:
Mirran Crusader - Really good in the meta I think. BUG can't deal this guy
Hero of Bladehold - Closes games really fast. When you have done with the grind, you need to close the game
Choke -The one card that really helps agianst Mirakels. And other blue piels
Kor Firewalker - Had it out of sideborad for a while but I have to side out 8 cards from main. There is nothing good to side in so I really wanted Firewalker back.

Siege Rhino is great against Burn too, and it's also good against Miracles or any fair deck that runs creatures.
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Nice list Ganfar. You thought about running a Gaddock Teeg in the board?
Debating on the Sideboard since I'm going to Grand Prix Columbus. Worried Eldrazi could be everywhere and as such have put an Ensnaring Bridge in sideboard and debated even playing an additional Toxic Deluge in the board (have 1 in there already). Anyone else have ideas? Even thought about Worship or Forcefield. I know, digging deep.
So far boarding out a bunch of one drop discard in favor of any and all removal I play (lol which is a lot) is doing alright. At a trial recently a Friend of mine made top 4 with a version very close to my deck. I lol'ed when I saw his match. Razvan (who posts on the Source) casts a Thought-Knot Seer seeing a hand of Shriekmaw, Shriekmaw and a Plow. And he's able to hardcast Shriekmaw too. Not only did Seer die next turn but Shriekmaw's fear ability allows it to swing through.

Four mana is too much and I will be dead before that.
@Wilkin
Thanks, Wilkin. I had Teeg in sideborad but I have replace him with Cannoist. I am not so sure if I want him back in again.
Shriekmaw is nice, but I ran 4 Bobs in the deck. :)

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Made day 2 of grand Prix Columbus. 6-3. Still gonna play although making prize will be hard.
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
I went 5-4 in Prag. I didn't get any good hands on the last game.
1-2 show and tell
2-0 show and tell
1-2 green 12 posts
2-0 Bug countertop
1-2 sharless bug
2-0 eldrazi
2-1 Goblin Belcher (Won the last game with a mull to 3 :))
2-0 4 color delver
0-2 shardless bug
I met 5 bad matchup, 3 good and eldrazi(First time met that deck)
I was bit unlucky to met so many bad match even that I won two of them. But it was a nice event and hopefully I will join the next Legacy GP i Europe.

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
9-6 record at gp Columbus. Meh. Report later as I got home at 1 am. Highlights include beating a cloudpost ramp deck with monoliths and dynamos......in game 3 he had just a voltaic key in play. Also explosives for zero vs lands to kill 3 Mox diamonds and leaving opponent on just a port. And beating Eric rill, even though I had no idea what he was playing until I read the article on wizards later that day

Here's the link to my report on how I did at Columbus. I went 9-6 at Columbus. Meh. Hoping to do better but oh well. One minor correction, I won round 15 in 2 games.

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
I'm brewing a deadguy list with the new Thalia. Anyone else thought about it? I'm taking a page out of Wilkins book and trying out 2x Chrome Mox as there are some pretty busted early plays to be had. Turn 2 daze-proof Thalia is the main reason for this. I'll post a list in the next day or two if there is interest...

New brews are always welcome.
I can't fit her in my list but she can be good.

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Guys, this question might sound daft but, it's well meant... what is the reason to play this over Nic-Fit? (I will be asking this same question on the 'other side' thread, just trying to understand if I'm missing something in my own comparison of these two decks)
Thanks!

This question is weird. But you said so yourself.
It all depends on what you want. If you just wanna win, just pick a Tier 1 deck with the hoghest win rate. Also, adapt to your local meta - perhaps dga/nix fit is what allows you to win at your local store.
When it comes down to preference there is no finite number of answers one could give you.
I personally started playing dga for the dumbest reason ever: I found the concept of black and white synergizing cool. Light-shadow-good-evil shenanigans edgyness.
Later, I find myself to enjoy controlly mid-to-long range decks the most fun. belcher style throwing your first seven on the table ans ask "did I win?" wasn´t fun for me. And I still believe that people playing mainly blue decks revolving around counters to push their 3 card combo were not breastfed as newborns. That is my reason. I tried similar decks as well.
What DGA offers you imo:
-Creatures only consisting of <3cmc hatebears
-Effective and versatile disruption, especially hitting those combo players
-Acess to a broad variety of sideboard cards
-The ability to do slight splashs and alter your playstyle entirely
-If able to establish, the mid game board is nigh to unbeatable
-mana acceleration and card draw engines

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

A bit of a strange question. I'm curious are those the only decks you can really build? And you are wondering which is better? I've played a bit of Nic Fit and I feel the Planeswalker super friends version to be the best right now because you should give Miracles a rough time. FYI, I played the BUG Birthing Pod version. The one close to the one that finished 10th in a GP in Europe.
Nic Fit has a much better long game than most decks, including Dead Guy. But the hands Nic Fit has can get clunky, which is why I played the BUG Version because of Brainstorm.
But Dead Guy is what I'm used to. A disruption deck that can attack from many angles and has lots of incremental card advantage. Nic Fit to me is a control deck that can go over the top of most decks. When people are top decking Delver of Secrets, you are top decking Grave Titan or Karn Liberated. It's preference and play style really. But if you play Nic Fit, at least you will have more fun looking at spoilers for new cards as casting cost isn't a big restriction in Nic Fit decks as it is in the vast majority of Legacy decks.
I feel that if you play the crap out of a deck you can find success even if the deck you are playing isn't Tier 1.
Secretly.A.Bee. For sure, brews and such are welcome. I like the new Thalia. Not sure where it can find a fit in Legacy but since it's a one sided Root Maze I'm sure it will find a home. The new Liliana, speaking of which, could find a home in Nic Fit. +1 kill your weenie guy or my own Explorer. -2. Get my Thragtusk back.

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
I can't contribute much to other discussions, but I can confirm that I'm getting tired of losing to Tidehollow Sculler + Wasteland Strangler synergy. I don't know how good it actually is but you guys should surely check that out if you didn't already.
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
That seems pretty narrow. What do you play? Perhaps it's good against what you are playing.

Such tricks, bring beautiful upper-limit performance(once assembled), but also worse lower-limit.
I've heard that DnT players had cut Mangara-Karakas trick from their deck, for years.

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Here's where I am starting:
4 DRS
1 Revoker
4 Bob
3 SFM
4 Thalia 2.0
3 L. Souls
1 PtE
4 StP
1 Maelstrom Pulse
2 Vindicate
2 Liliana
2 Therapy
3 TSeize
2 Hymn
1 Jitte
1 SoFI
1 SoLS
2 C. Mox
4 Wasteland
2 Swamp
1 Plains
1 Karakas
1 Savannah
1 Bayou
3 Scrubland
1 Verdant
2 Heath
4 Flats
Yes, 61. It's how I roll. No board yet. I'm switching from junk to this just because I'm tired of getting blown out by RIP. I have 2 green sources because of some sideboard choices I'm partial to, and will probably be more green heavy than it should be. Any suggestions or disagreements?
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Interesting list.
-what does pte stand for? Doesn't ring a bell.
-no batterskull? Always wanted to try light and shadow but feel it not as impactful.
- no abrupt decay? Quite a few 3 drops. I feel you could switch the pulse for a decay, especially with miracles around.
-definitely want to see how new Thalia does. I'd almost suggest taking out revoker for a spellskite to increase chances of Thalia living 😀
- I'd recommend another fetchland because I feel 8 fetch is minimum u need in order to use shaman reliably
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
PtE=Path to Exile. It seems it may have some synergy with Thalia. Just a test. Could become an Abrupt Decay.
Batterskull will be in the board. 2x Abrupt Decay will be in the board, as will a Sylvan Library. I love that card, and play it recklessly.
I needed a way to deal with multiple permanents, and maybe the Pulse should be something else, a Deluge perhaps. There are a lot of 3 drops, though.
I did stare at a Spellskite in one hand and a Revoker in the other for like 5 minutes. In the end, I chose Revoker because it's won me games and is less often a dead draw, and can swing with a jitte. If I want another Fetch, I have to drop Savannah, and I don't think I want to do that right now.
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Hmm.....ok. I did play 7 fetches for a while and it was mostly alright. I also realized you play 4 BB spells, which makes me think perhaps that Savannah should be another Bayou.
Path to Exile. I see. I certainly can't argue about that much removal. It would depend on meta I suppose. Of course, I play Shriekmaws no matter what the meta is so...... :)
My board wipe cards are in sideboard. I sometimes wish they were main but not sure what to cut. Yeah Library is awesome. Since you are going to be playing 2 lands that produce green, it's totally good to play a Library somewhere in the 75.

Be still my beating heart. What a beautiful deck. As a long-time Shardless player who has been wanting a change...this might just do it for me.

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Holy crap, 1996 called, said to give back their tier 1 strategy.
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
So awesome. One of my favorite turn 1 plays from 1995 :)
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Oh Nostalgia. I miss the days of turn 1 Hypnotic Specter. Heavy Land Destruction package too. 4 sinkhole, 4 vindicate and 4 wasteland. Love it.
I was half expecting Nantuko Shade in there somewhere. :) This list looks very similar to Chris Pikula's original list.
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Wonder if the inclusion of the shocklands was a budget thing. Love me a turn 1 Hippy, though.
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
This seems great. Real question is whats it beat/lose to
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
I tried a similarly identical list during the TCruise era. Went 0-3 unfortunately. I love to see it doing well. I could see it crushing miracles dick. Piles of duress and hippy probably not bad against combo either.

Prelate looks pretty insane. On 2 it's vs lands it shuts down Life from the Loam and Punishing Fire. Vs storm it's great, again I'd go saying 2.
Vs Miracles it's board state dependent although since they have removal at different numbers IMO it's not as devastating vs them.
I'm definitely picking up a bunch for Dead guy and maybe even a UW deck I'm thinking of building. Prelate + Meddling Mage and Gitaxian Probe is going to be awfully annoying.
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Then again, it hits ourselves slightly as well. Hymn, Jitte if it needs to be hardcast, abrupt decay and stuff in our sb as well, zealous, ethersworn, rest in peace..
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Only stops non creatures. Whatever you're naming it's probably hosing your opponent more. Could even make a more creature centric version. Shriekmaw gets around it. Also it's the hard lock against storm in game 1 so it's pretty sick
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Oh for sure I'll probably name a number that affects me too. But it's probably worth it.
eg. Vs Loam naming 2. Shuts down their Abrupt Decay, Life from the Loam and Punishing Fire. Sure it hits our Abrupt Decay but I play with enough removal that I can live without being able to cast it.
eg. Vs Storm. Also naming 2. Shuts down Infernal Tutor, Burning Wish and Pyroclasm. Sure Hymn To Tourach is now dead in my hand but now Storm is probably going to have to deal with Sanctum Prelate before it can kill me.
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
I could see Prelate in main if there is a lot of combodecks in the meta. Strom, Reanimator, High Tide and maybe even show and tell.
Issue is that it's a three drop and maybe to slow, but DearthRite can make it out turn 3.
I will have it in the sideboard. Cannoist is good anti combo card but maybe to narrow
-
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
So I tested out a singleton Prelate in the board at FNM. 2-2 but testing was good. Played vs infect, Jund, UR Delver and Jund Fit (sneak attack for Emrakul and Griselbrand). Beat Jund and Jund fit.
I boarded the Sanctum Prelate vs Jund, Jund Fit and Delver. Saw it and played it vs Jund fit but he had a Pernicious Deed in play already so it was bait so he could pop it because I had Hero of Bladehold in hand.
VS UR Delver is was game winning. So I cast Thoughtseize on my turn 1 and see double Ponder and double Stormchaser Mage. I take a Mage and pass. He ponders and passes on his turn. I play Bob and pass. I imprint Vindicate on a Chrome Mox to leave white open for a STP. On his turn he plays the other Mage and I Plow it. On my turn I play my Prelate. It resolves. I name 1 because I know at least I strand a Ponder and hopefully more. I got more. He scoops and reveals a hand of Ponder, Lightning Bolt, Gitaxian Probe and a Pithing Needle. lol. I end up losing the match but gain some game action with Sanctum Prelate.
I could have played Prelate a turn earlier but didn't since I knew he had a Stormchaser Mage and I didn't want to nerf my STP.
Yeah, definitely going with at least one in the board. My issue with it is stuff in play isn't affected and I already have 2 Gaddock Teeg in the board, more cards that don't affect the board state. I thought about 2 Prelates in the board but atm, still leaving in one Phyrexian Revoker in the side.

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Less than 4 wasteland makes me cry. For every game double waste screws you on colors it probably simply wins other games. I think this new BW fast land is sweet in this deck. I played two isolated chapels. I don't know if anyone else has though
