Went 5-1-1 at a local GPT to take home 2 byes for the GP! I beat Junk, Dredge, UW Painter, UWR Painter, Sneak and Show and lost to Dredge.
This deck is in a really interesting place. I think that in general, the game ones aren't great, but post board you either have a ton of removal or a ton of counterspells that most match-ups are favorable post board.
Alright I have now tried Eriks deck with 2 more Grim Lavamancers in my SB. It worked ok against Death and Taxes, but not as well as I wanted. Then I tried taking one of the Lavamancers out of my SB for a Sulfur Elemental, and that worked much better. Betweem Swords to Plowshares and Phyrexian Revoker DnT can shut down my Grim Lavamancer, and the Split Second on Sulfur Elemental is very relevant. Only downside is that Sulfur Elemental does not work against many other decks, but I have such a hard time beating it otherwise, so I will keep it at 1 Grim Lavamancer and 1 Sulfur Elemental in my sideboard.
Another card you could consider is Electrickery. More versatile, but it doesn't kill Serra Avenger or Crusader.
Also, the more I play with this deck the more I'm convinced it's the best Delver deck in the format. It has game (meaning at least 45-50%) against RUG Delver, Shardless BUG, Storm and Show and Tell. I'm not sure any other deck in Legacy can actually say that at this point in time. It's also nice that it usually beats up on the creature heavy decks with its galore of removal spells.
At this point, I've tested RUG Delver, BUG Delver, UR Delver, UBR Delver and GRUB Delver, and none of them have a good match-up against a decent Shardless BUG player. Of course, if you're not worried about beating Shardless, then a lot of those decks have stronger games against combo.
Im gonna use my third Lavamancer from SB for the cards you mentioned. Mom is by far the worst, and I expect DnT players to side out Mirran Crusaders, as they cost 3 and eat all of my removal.Quote:

There are better cards vs. the control decks. Having 4 SFM and 3 equipments to fetch goes a long way. I'm actually thinking of adding another Sword or Manriki
I think cards like Elspeth are just trying to go too big with this deck. I like sticking with the tempo plan, which is what this deck is good at imo. That's why I prefer Young Pyromancer over Stoneforge.
I split the finals of a 25-man tournament to win a Mishra's Workshop. I felt pretty good about the list and only lost 2 games all day. Here is my list:

The Therapies single-handedly won me two games, and I was very happy they were in my deck.
Looks like UWR is in the finals again! I'm happy about that, but this player made 3 critical misplays yet still won vs. Goblins. He didn't play SFM turn 2 and played it turn 3 instead (no protection either turn and he had TONS of removal), chose to FOW Thalia when he could have Swords it, instead he lost his Jitte to Tin Street AND he forgot to flip his delver. I mean fatigue is definitely a thing, but I thought it was pretty stupid he won that game due to having an insane draw.
Still, he's up against Reanimator, which should be close.
Do you guys generally run any Karakas?
I did for a while, but not tapping for U was more important than bouncing the occasional Thalia/Griselbrand/Emrakul. I also cut Clique and it's pretty rare to need to bounce Geist
This guy really needs to put a dice or something on his deck so he remembers his Delver triggers. He's in the fucking finals and missing Delver triggers, jesus. In addition to misplays all over the place
Yeah seriously, he left Geists in against Goblins (too many blockers) and Reanimator (a turn 2 combo deck).
Biggest lucksack SCG win ever.

Yeah I mean it's definitely tiring to play 12 rounds of Magic. I'm probably being unfair by judging him from what I saw. Still, SB errors are more an issue of preparation/thinking through match-ups and not really a factor of how tired he was.

How do you guys use fethces in patriot? I played a couple games with it and found myself being restricted by opposing Wastelands when I wanted to play a turn 2 SFM or a delver + lavamancer. You often need both red and white and the deck can get bottlenecked for colored mana easily.
Grim Lavamancer is obviously sick tech against your Reanimator opponent trying to steal your creatures, right? :smile:Quote:

I am able to hinder him from developping his mana and he is screwed from fetching a basic Swamp, while i beat down with an Insectile Aberration.

Game 1
I land a Grim Lavamancer and don't have a lot of action, but have to Swords to Plowshares 3 Tarmogoyfs, so he is on a astronomical life total. We Wasteland eachother and the game goes very long, when i land a Stoneforge Mystic and am shocked it survives a turn. He Ponders, Brainstorms, Ponders and just has 1 Mana left open on my turn, so i can drop Batterskull and later a Geist of Saint Traft to which he has a Tarmogoyf, but is unable to hinder me from equipping.

I Mulligan and get Stifled and Wasted into Oblivion, while he has 2 Nimble Mongeese. On the last Turn i can block with a flipped Delver of Secrets, but he has a Bolt to my face.

We have little time left, but the game is over quite fast, as it never gets this far, as he beats me down with 2 Tamogoyfs to which i only have 1 Swords to Plowshares.

I am able to flip 2 Delvers, Daze a Pernicious Deed and once he can resolve a Deed, he is already at 3 and i have a Lightning bolt on top of my Deck from a Brainstorm.

I open on a perfect Volcanic Island, 2 Delver of Secrets, 2 Brainstorm, Stoneforge Mystic and Rest in Peace. Later i draw a Tundra, am Able to play a third Delver after he has a Maze of Ith and am then able to Daze his Choke and land Rest in Peace to his Deathrite Shaman, that later gets joined by Veteran Explorer and Academy Rector!
This was one of the biggest blowouts i have ever experienced, as i drew very well and he did not.
